Utterly fascinating to see engineering explained in detail. The age of the machine and how it still functions is incredible. Hope you get it cleaned and hooked up to a motor, would love to see it sew again 🪡🧵✂️😍
And thank you so much for imparting you're knowledge, I can't find any English sewing machine technician to pass on their experience to me.. Mostly because I'm a woman that sews.

Flat plastic containers with snap on lids work well for the Evaporust and allow big flat parts to soak. You can then store the Evaporust in them and the crud and dirt settles to the bottom and is an easy clean out.

***Good screwdrivers*** absolutely can make all the difference for working on these old machines

Thanks for the video. I love these old industrial Singers, some are quite different than their domestic models of the time. I would love to see a part 2 if you ever get around to it. I am assuming this machine is similar to the 107W which seems more common at least on RUclips.

That top plate has a beautiful bluing. Won't Evaporust damage that bluing? I probably would have just scuffed off the superficial rust from the top side of that plate, especially seeing as it doesn't fit in your jar.

Evaporust had no affect on the bluing. I put the top plate end on in the jar so I could easily compare the affected area with the non affected area. I intend on putting the plate in a larger container with evaporust.

@@InStitchesinteresting. I thought bluing was effectively a form of iron oxide. There may be a thin layer of varnish on top? What do you think, as you look at it with your own eyes and other senses?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next episode!

There's no varnish and the plate is in a fairly bad state. I'll get some close up shots of it for you in the next episode. Thanks. @@GianmarioScotti

I have this machine. It runs pretty well but I keep breaking thread. Any ideas on what may be the problem? Timing looks good, needle height looks good, I am missing one little thread hold back near the tension knob but I think it's happening near the bobbin

Hello, have you found a solution for the left-right play in the needle bar? Same thing happened to my singer 31-32 and domestic zig-zag so i'm looking for solutions.

This was a rare Singer model. Thanks. Bobbin case looks like Featherweight type?

I was thinking the same thing about the bobbin case and the hook also looks similar to a Featherweight one except the shaft area is different. Thanks.
