    Hey Helena! I really enjoy watching your videos. I’m extremely new to astro-everything, and I started imaging this past February. While watching you setup your gear in this video I noticed that you balanced your equipment without any cables connected. Was that just footage for the video, or is that how you normally do it? The reason I ask is because the cables themselves add weight, and the drag of the cables add more weight, so if you don’t balance with all of that connected it will throw the balance off and add to your guiding error. Also, if you can figure out how to get the cables hanging off of the back of the scope back to the deck plate and then down to your computer, but without snagging, you will remove the drag weight they cause. Hope this helps and clear skies!

    I love your videos. You're enthusiasm has taken me back 60 years ago to when I first got interested in astronomy. And then in the 1970's when I started astrophotography with B&W film, off axis guiding, darkroom processing. Thanks to you and Trevor I've started again, this time learning the new digital way. Thank you and keep up the outstanding work!!!!!

    Hey Helena, I need you help real quick. I see you have had the skywatcher dobsonian 10 inch telescope and I am amazed of the pictured you get with it. I bought the same telescope in 8 inch and the pictures I get are way smaller, blurry and way to undetailed. I am trying everything making the picture larger and smaller butnothing changes. I have an 6mm eyepiece of high quality but dont even see saturn's rings. Hope you can help me

    Only 30 minutes of data?!!! It looks incredible! Great job with your Astro vlogs. Glad to hear you’ll start filming more during your imaging. I’m always amazed by astrophotographers who are also good at keeping up a RUclips channel. Clear skies!

    Hey Helena, just came across your videos and found them pretty cool. I like your editing, both, video and images, and i like your friendly, confident way to communicate your message. This is for sure very inspiring for young people, especially young women to get into astronomy or astrophotography. Keep up this work! Cheers from Cologne/Germany.

    Hey Helena, Since i fell in love with it im planning on buying a astrophotography equipment. What im thinking to buy is: Skywatcher EQ5 pro for mount, a skywatcher 150/750 f5 telescope, a small guide scope, and a autoguiding cam, all of these would cost me about 1200-1300 dollars. I already have a dslr and a laptop so i don't need to buy them. Do you think these equipment would give me good and sharp images of nebulae and galaxies with 1-8 hours of exposure depending on what object? And if any suggestions on what part of the equipment i should change please let me know and please don't recommend expensive equipments because i cant afford them.

    Well done.......I had issues as well the other night, guiding went awol as well, due to the mount hitting end stop and not meridian flipping (I hadn't set that up in the software). Don't miss the cold of Scotland! I seen this morning there is more flooding in the NE again! Anyway, here is my attempt at the Superman Galaxy! ruclips.net/video/ztuGnp-0dSg/видео.html

    Nice video! New to the channel as I started on the astro scene about a month ago. I just took receipt of the William Optics redcat 51 which will be used on my Star Adventurer Pro and Canon 600D. Will give the Pleiades cluster and M31 a good bash when we eventually get some clear skies here in South Wales. Subbed to the channel :)

    Great stuff! For an absolute beginner that wants a good observation telescope AND the possibility to use it eventually in astrophotography do you reckon I should get a Achromatic Refractor/Reflector to start or just go with something else like a dobsonian Newtonian? Would love your feedback!

    @JonnyBravo0311 3 года назад

    At the very beginning of the video where the camera was taking the shot of you setting up, all I saw was a sky full of clouds and thought, "she's far more ambitious than I". That's a heck of a result with only 30 minutes of data. I'm anxiously waiting for a night with relatively clear skies so I can try out my new Star Adventurer. With a very rough polar alignment (read I just set it up pointing roughly to true north at roughly the right latitude) I was able to get 30-40 second subs with my G9 and PL 50-200 lens at 200mm (so 400mm full frame equivalent). The clouds rolled in, so all I got to do was take a few test images. Doesn't look like I'll have any shot of getting out again until at least next weekend during the full moon.

    • @HelenasAstrophotography
      @HelenasAstrophotography  3 года назад +1

      Good luck with imaging! Clouds take up most of my nights too but when a clear one comes, it is so worth it. No feeling can compare! :)

      @JonnyBravo0311 3 года назад

      @@HelenasAstrophotography thanks! I'm hoping to get out there tonight. Even though it's the night before the full moon, it's supposed to be the first clear night we've had in quite a while. It'll be a good test of my new star adventurer (hopefully properly polar aligned this time) and my NiSi "natural light" light pollution filter. Fingers crossed! :)

    Great video Helena and that's a beautiful image and learning is the key and learning your mistakes mean you will do better. Sadly the clouds and rain hasn't let up in few weeks here in Scotland and winter is coming and all those deep sky objects will be there to photograph. Just hoping it's clear soon because I want to do some serious imaging so all I want is clear skies in bonney wee Scotland where it rains alot. I should take my little setup to Spain because they have more clear skies and go further south. That could be a plan of mine next year if this Pandemic ends. Stay safe Helena and clear skies!!!

    Are you using PhotoShop CC?

  • @Wheeljack678
    @Wheeljack678 3 года назад

    Absolutely. One thing I wish I had realized learned earlier is to lower my expectations. You will run into unexpected obstacles, be it weather, equipment failure or just a personal mistake like forgetting a setting, incorrectly configuring a setting or in some cases - image a whole night with your lenscap or focusing mask on.
    This is not all negative though. Once you've messed up something, chances are you won't do the same mistake next time, but instead learn from it. It all adds up to experience. If you can take away just one thing you've learned from a "failed" imaging session - it wasn't really a failure was it?

    Great image! Glad to hear guiding is working better for you. You may want to try longer exposures on your guide camera, I’ve noticed much better results with 2 to 2.5 seconds. Shorter exposures end up chasing seeing, not actual star position-shout out Dylan. Love the videos!
