  • DIY Fitting up my new 4mm Steel Bashplates from Kaon Australia.
    Made to Fit KDSS Diesel Models!
    3 piece kit.
    Fits quite well over all but will require some trimming with the grinder to work 100% as they should.

    I fitted 3mm stainless bash plates to my Everest, but I never thought to check for clearance at full travel. I just assumed it was engineered to work & fit properly. You learn something every day. I like the test track you used - very handy for working the bugs out.

      Yeah well you are right as they should be fitting properly.
      Yeah that test track is only 2 mins from my house which is super convineient

    How are these Kaon Bash Plates going now, being that it's over 2 years later Aaron? I'm looking at getting some for my MY22 Fortuner. Cheers, Don, Perth WA (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)

    Aaron. Excellent job on the Prado. So I have a question. Do you think that I can put 20 inch wheels on the Kakadu or will it interfere with the off roading capability mechanism etc.

    How’d the old one get written off mate ? What happen ?

      Ty Fenwick he has flooded the engine with a salt water in Fraser Island.

    • @AaronOffroader
      @AaronOffroader  4 года назад +1

      Hey bro. Yeah no flooding in the engine.
      Drove out of the crossing and off the island under its own steam.
      But incurred 2-3” of water in the cab during the crossing. Which did eventually cause absolute havic with the electrics. It sat under insurances watch for 5 weeks with wet salty carpet which racked up the repair quote over 45k. So they convinced me to let it go. They said it will never perform like it did and reliability would be completely comprimised.

    Hi Aaron, awesome channel mate! Love it. Did you talk the manufacture about the plates rubbing against the suspension componentry? This is a pretty big oversight. I was actually looking at buying a set for my Prado VX 150 which is a V6 Petrol. Any help / tips on these would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

      Nahh i havent spoke to then about it. I never ended up trimming any of it. Ill have to recheck it as its had 2 wheel alignments and lift kit put in it since. I havent heard it contacting but might still be.

    With all that sand coming out is that after a wash? What rust prevention do you use? I've got a new Prado as well but worry about rust in 10 years time with all that sand getting caught in there

    That's why i went with ARB bash plates for my Lexus GX, i know it's made in Australia and i know it's quality. No trimming and no test fitting.
    Kaon/Koan is made in China 😬

      Kaon is Aussie made and owned as well, but like all aftermarket stuff, sometimes they miss things, it happens. Best to let them know.

    Silly question but what ND filter did you use?

    • @AaronOffroader
      @AaronOffroader  4 года назад +2

      Hi mate! Its just a cheap Zomei one
      72mm
      Or K&F concept ones are good too.
      I wanna buy the Polar Pro VNDs for the New Gmaster Lenses. But nearly $1000 for the 2 filters in Aus 🙄😬

    I really don't think those flimsy looking bash-plates are strong enough to safely replace the massive radiator-support bars you've removed...

    • @AaronOffroader
      @AaronOffroader  4 года назад

      Maybe you should feel some for yourself. You will find they are far from flimsy.

    • @florinbaiduc
      @florinbaiduc 4 года назад +1

      @@AaronOffroader Fair enough. But I still think they won't structurally replace those thick bars you removed. Those are there for good reasons...
