- Located in one of the busy residential localities of ECR in Chennai, this home is surrounded by a lush green landscape contributing to the tranquil ambience of the house.
One is greeted by a lily pond flanked by a terracotta jali which allows evaporative cooling, bringing down the temperature inside the house.
Inspired by traditional homes, this abode also boasts of a sloping roof which is punctured by windows thus helping in keeping the house cool.
The interiors were designed subtly while the garden in the front portion added freshness to the house. The sunken seating, use of natural stone, timber, and clay tiles, added to the traditional beauty of the house.

Wooden furniture, hardwood shutters, wide open spaces and abundant natural light inside the house are some key highlights of the project. That's a Malayali right there. Beautifully implemented traditional architecture in this modern house. I'm from Chennai and I know how impossible it is to stay even for 1 minute without a fan. The fact that they were chilling in peak summer without any fan or AC speaks volumes about how well thought and insulated the house is. Loved the tour, thank you. 🙏🏼

I genuinely have one question how they are controlling mosquitos, pests , especially in rainy conditions !! I am not mocking on anything it's my genuine question.

Proper landscape maintenance from a professional or experienced person would solve the pests problem to some extent but mosquitoes I am not sure too..

I live in a place similar to this! Wt you have to do is close the doors and windows from 5-8pm everyday to avoid insects to enter home

my grandfather build his house about 150 years ago it still stands in mangalore he lived 103 years..and we have own eater well and a tree of many different fruits and vegetable plus rice fields .. including one coffee tree and one cotton tree also my grand uncle passed away about 7 years back he was 107..and he used to carry a axe to see his plants needed anything near his house
Whenever I passed by this house, I always wanted to have a look of the interior and how the landscaping is being done? Never ever thought, I'll get to see the full tour of the house!! This house is indeed so beautiful inside out.

I am from Chennai. This is a lovely home. I love the meditation room especially. I can feel the "shanti" and "ananda" radiating from the home.

Pests mosquitoes question raised by someone down here, mosquitoe repellent plants can be used, natural repellent methods like burning cow dung cakes can b used..

This is a modern house design with all hallmarks of traditional architecture as @imranvp mentioned. It is a struggle to see anything similar. In short a house built for the Tropical (hot and humid) climate!
I have a question that perhaps the locals can answer. The vegetation near and around the building, to see the various species of trees/plants thriving despite the sweltering heat 40C during the hot months. I take it they have some sort of irrigation from the bore hole?
