Its really interesting the dynamics of how Omori in here is clearly put off by Sunny controlling him, though Sunny himself is kind of blank about it. After all, whats so unethical about using your mental construct for what it was made for? Yet despite that Omori helps Sunny out with his coping with trauma, offering him the disassociation and denial that Sunny asked for until the bitter end. Also, just. WOW. That ending. So beautifully gray and I love it. Omori isn't a part of Sunny he can just discard. He's a part of Sunny that in order to truly defeat, Sunny would have to accept... which does not happen at all in here. All of this was so amazing to watch, just thank you so much for creating this feast for the eyes! (Also wdym by sketch animatic??? This is a full thing! :0)
I WAS NOT READY FOR THAT ENDING HOOOOLY. This is such a cool idea and so well executed, I love the way you visualize Sunny and Omori’s control over each other! Hope this blows up :D

The ending stabbed me when I came up with it too-- but it also felt like the proper way for this story to end. not to write an essay in your replies, but I love the ending of Omori proper, with Sunny and Omori reconciling via hug; I thought it was really beautiful and showed how rejecting intrusive thoughts or parts of yourself doesn't work and only makes them stronger. And I decided to show how much I love that by depicting the reverse. Anyway, I'm glad the color-coding thing came across properly, since i was worried about that not making sense. thanks for your comment!

Theres so many details in here that are just so amazing aaa! I love how Omori is still always acting to protect Sunny, except since Sunny listens a lot less than what Omori believes is good for him, so Omori ends up resorting to taking control. After all, that's the only way Omori knows how to influence the other. That's the way Sunny showed him. There are so so so many beautiful things about this animatic. Actually i think it's just perfect. I'll highlight a few though! 1:27 The way you draw Aubrey! She's so feral and I love it. 2:09 Love how the threads of Omori's control are being cast out like a net. Also i love how the ends of the threads are slightly rough, to the point where it almost looks like red hands! 3:10 I ACTUALLY GASPED ALOUD AT THE TRANSITION TO SUNNY FIGHTING BACK AGAINST THE CONTROL HOLY CRAP!!! THE KNIFE IN THE BACK! Also how Omori looks a little hurt after it's just ow. My heart. Also just, the whole fight scene after! It's done so incredibly well, I'm in love. Honestly the best reindition of the omori vs sunny fight scene I've ever seen, i do love my anime red hands fights but this kind of knife fight is way more satisfying to me for some reason. Also the fact that this sunny has a knife and not a violin in this au in the first place? Just aaa! 3:46 I also was losing my shit at this part omg. The way Sunny's victorious smile turns faint as the line he drew across Omori's neck finds its way upon his own neck as well. AND THEN THE FRIENDS WALKING IN. OMG. AND SUNNY'S STILL FREAKING SMILING!!!

Omori is always doing what he thinks is right for Sunny! That's his job!!! Even in the knife fight, whenever Omori goes on the attack, his knife is always pointed with the blade AWAY from Sunny. He's only ever trying to subdue him. I didn't even think about the idea of his thing about control being copied from Sunny, but it's genius and I wish it was intentional! 2. Aubrey & Basil are the designs that I have the hardest time with, to be honest, so I'm glad you like her. The feral energy is mostly because she is having the WORST day. Also on the Aubrey fight note-- I wish I had more time to dedicate to that, but what I was trying to indicate with the red lines is both that Sunny attacked her with the knife and that it was Omori who made him do it, in perceived self-defense. Red lines, Omori control, etc. I don't think I made it clear enough, but it's also not super important to the plot here, so whatever. 3. a little secret: I also love that transition. I dropped this for like four months at one point, and rewatching that was what made me go. ok. I have to finish this. and then I made the fight scene. Also, I know that canonically Omori has complete control over his emotions and blah de blah but for the story I'm trying to tell making him human, and making him feel betrayed, was just. delicious. I'm also happy that the feral manic knife fight energy came across. they're just two kids duking it out. and yeahhh. no violin :( he didn't get that character development. He didn't GET any 'go through all these happy memories with your friends and remember what your life is worth' segment he just got RAGE. Poor dude. 4. yess the ending. he and omori are connected after all :))) also, for an added bit of hurt, take a closer look at Aubrey during that end scene! No hairband? Weird! What's she wearing? A flower? Yeah, they came into his house to tell him that Basil died, and then they find... that. Anyway, the ending was the first thing I came up with, and everybody's positive responses are fueling my ego so much. He's smiling because he (thinks he) won; he's smiling because he's lost so much (his best friend, his relationships with his other friends, his sister, even his headspace) that dying on his own terms is a happy ending to him; he's smiling because he's delirious and not fully aware of what's going on... It could be any of those or all of them, I guess. But whatever the reason, he's smiling because he wants to. My most egotistical trait is that I will take any excuse to talk about my own work, haha. I'm not actually sure! Every so often I worked for 2-3 hours to make a bunch of frames, put 'em together and abandoned the project for another 2 months. But there were hundreds of frames so it. took a while.
