I usually end up doing a 2 reflow process. I will place them on one side then bake it. Then do the other side and bake it again. you can also use a try to hold the boards up a bit, with this way you can usually do it in one reflow with care. The key is to make sure your reflow profile is spot on and too not put too much IR energy into the oven which might discolor the boards and scorch the plastic and silkscreen.
Hey, how do we get this going with ChiliPeppr so we can all dispense solder paste right onto our circuit boards? I'm milling circuit boards now with ChiliPeppr and the next step is I'd like to get ChiliPeppr to have a clean integration to your dispenser so we can all build one and get the solder paste process to be really easy. The step after that would be laser soldering and pick and place. ChiliPeppr has come a long way and is ready to take on this next task.
Really good guide. I have a question also. I'm using Naphtha (petroleum),hydrotreated light, when cleaning the board and joints. It works good so far. I would like your thoughts on it. Are there any drawbacks using this chemical? Cheers
The easiest way is to use lead free solder paste for the first side (reflowing at 240-250ºC) and for the other side use Low Temp Bismuth paste (reflows at 165ºC). the 165 degrees dont melt the solder on the 1st side
just wanted to say thanks for this. I took your idea/project and made my own version.

Nice build! Ever think of simplifying it with a DPDT momentary switch? It would require no microcontrolers to run.
Any chance you can share your code? That looks awesome!
Is that clicking the oven relay?
Time to upgrade to an SSR on that thing.
Nice video though
What a brilliant idea! I hope I can make one for myself.
Could you tell me which camera are you using?
Thank you!
Very cool build! Do you think this could be used to dispense a CA glue?

How are you controlling the temperature of the oven?
What did you search for on eBay for the pressurized syringe?

How do you do the other side? I'm curious, do the components on the already-done-side fall off or something?

What is the smallest package you've ever mounted this way?
Nice project. Guess you could have done with simpler logic chips, using an Arduino is a bit of overkill but, anyhow an encouraging project
where do u get ur smd components from?
great hack! :thumbs up:
where would i find this type of syringe
ebay ebay ebay
Nice hack ! :)
Anyone else watching this while taking a dump? 🙋♂️
I wish I could go back in time and said "you could have shrink the board sizes to 20% of those giant ones you got...", but I can't :/
