So many notable people in one cemetery..but like you said the other evening in the chat..now they are just as everyone else before them..very cool..another interesting place to go visit
Very cool Cashew, I love old cemeteries and will need to check this one out. The whole Gypsy word being not politically correct is insane, the world is getting crazy, everyone offended by everything, except the word Hillbilly, lol. Thanks for bringing us along.
This is cool to see and the weird thing about it is my grandmother on my Dad's side was a Stanley and her grandparents were Gypsies who actually traveled in caravans like you see in old movies, they say my grandmother was very ashamed of having that blood in her,.but I have always felt like it is so COOL, now I wonder if these Stanley's were kin? Wow! Thanks Cashew 😀
I used to drink beer on and above Winters grave.. such a nice view of the city... check out the view from walnut hills park.. it's about 1-2 miles from the front gate at woodland cemetery
I just discovered this vlog and I am so glad I did! My late husband is from Dayton and I love this cemetery. Woodland is similar to Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, my hometown. Thanks for this video and the great information you shared. Keep up the good work! Cheers!!
If you’re ever in Savannah Ga. Lots of cemeteries of historical value; one often missed is the African American Cemetery where many slaves are buried as well as prominent blacks from history. Worthy of a visit; there are at least 3 other cemeteries, including a Jewish Cemetery, but it is not open to public and is kept from most public exposure. Bonaventure and Laurel Grove are places of well known people, including the composer of Jingle Bells and other historical figures; Johnny Mercer at Bonaventure.
Thanks for the suggestion. I hope one day to visit Savannah. I filmed Cave Hill cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky and showed the grave of the woman who wrote the Happy Birthday song.
Cashew . . . very nice. I was particularly pleased to see this because we have planned a trip in a few weeks to Woodland Cemetery. We have a friend that lives close to it in Dayton, is very familiar with the location of many graves, and is going to guide us. He tells me the cemetery is quite beautiful and definitely worth going to see.
Fab vlog. I love an old cemetery. So much history and intrigue. Do you know the significance of pennies on headstones? It's not something I see here in the UK. Cheers
@@CashewPaul Pennies on the grave is generally found on a soldier's grave, and shows you visited. Different coin denominations signify different meanings, in relationship to the soldier. You see this a lot in Arlington cemetery. It is also seen a lot on Jewish graves to show respect.🐾🐾🐺

Is the statue with Schantz in opening scene; the family of the Schantz organ builders who still manufacture amazing pipe organs?
Great question. I’m not sure. I’ll have to look into it. I plan to return there and film more. Thanks for watching as well as the question.
