I just want to say, as said in the video that if you have any of these symptoms it doesn’t necessarily mean you have HIV. The only way to be sure is to get tested and put your mind to rest. The fear comes from not knowing.

Videos like this needed. It is not hiv but the stigma that people are afraid of. Today we have good understanding of hiv. A good management of hiv is like diabetes. A good self care is needed.

Thanks for your comment and support.🙏👍❤️
But it can predispose you to cancer, accelerates aging, and should be not taken lightly. It is a good idea to avoid getting it and spreading it. If it there was an actual cure, and it was not constantly necessary to treat it with antivirals that lose effectiveness after a while, and you have to constantly change them out, it would not be such a big deal.

@Peter.c106 hey Peter 👋 I'm experiencing similar symptoms just a day after having an intercourse. But my body temperature is kinda hot and constant with a wave like headaches 😩
Hey man. I just saw your video and i was struck by how my story is the opposite of your experience. I am a 45 years old male from Greece and was diagnosed back in summer 2014. I never had any symptoms whatsoever(cd4 were above i think 1200) and i found out i was positive after my break up with my then partner, who was a married father of 2, whom i trusted and was the very first man i had unprotected sex. So after the break up, while picking up my pieces and trying to make a new start, i thought i should do a routine check up as i often did. And that was it. My diagnosis felt like the whole world had collapsed on me. I never did drugs, i never had unprotected sex, i never smoked, i was 5 times a week at the gym, would travel all the time and was successful in almost all aspects of my life. That day everything stopped. I knew i has some kind of mild depression before that too (being a homosexual man in Greece has a toll on you) but after my diagnosis i went into the darkest place there can be. And im still there unfortunately. Of course i stopped traveling, stopped having sex, quit the gym, quit life i guess. Of course, i thought of ending it all numerous times but the only thing holding me is my love for my mother. I would never want to hurt her and me "leaving" would devastate her. So i fight every day to just float. Even writing this feels futile but i have to do it in order to feel a bit alive. So yeah, our lives were totally opposite before our diagnosis and are again totally opposite and we just had a meeting point. Funny ha?
Thanks for reaching out my friend and sharing some of your life with me. I’m glad you’re here. Are story’s maybe opposite but we’re connected by this virus. I am also an HIV + man. I had a similar diagnosis (2019) with fewer side effects and less suffering but my CD4 T cells were low (48mm3) and my viral load (75000) at the time. @@Thatsong-fr9nq good question… that’s down to the amazing medicine that’s available now. One pill a day… that’s it. Life span for someone who is living with HIV is the same as someone who is negative.
@@Thatsong-fr9nq Anti-Retro viral drugs called RV's and some strains are more aggressive than others. Also it makes a huge difference when you have other medical problems. Some people have already weakened immune systems and in Africa it is common that people have HIV but also tuberculosis ( that can be drug resistant) that reduce their life expectancy or they often get an malaria infection. ( plasmodoum falciparum) Many factors contribute to your life expectancy with HIV.
@@Thatsong-fr9nq Hiv are subdivided into HIV1 and HIV 2 the former is more virulent. Anti Retro viral drugs (ART's) helps to keep you healthy. Usually if you are HIV positive they measure your viral load, that is how fast HIV is reproducing, the lower the better and your cd4 count which measure your immune system function. A compromised immune system can be detrimental for people living with HIV. - Untreated HIV can progress to AIDS ( Acquired immune deficiency syndrome ) that is the advance stage of HIV.

Hi Peter. Scrolling through RUclips and came across your video. It sounded like you went through hell before being diagnosed.
I am a 64 year old gay guy in Newcastle upon Tyne and was diagnosed in January 2008 when I was 48. I was very sensible and always practiced safe sex but one night I went out, got pissed, brought a guy back and wasn't safe!!
Can't remember the timeline now but about a week later I noticed this slight blotchy rash on my chest. Nothing else. Then after about 2-3 weeks I was becoming so weak. So much so I remember having to go home from work one day. I was a mental health nurse. Honestly I felt so weak it was unbelievable. The chest rash hadn't got worse but it was still there. At the back of my mind I thought I had an STD although didn't think HIV though.
Went to my local STD clinic and was tested for everything. Turned out I was HIV but also had syphilis too. And it was syphilis which was the cause of the chest rash. I think if it hadn't been for the chest rash I wouldn't have gone for testing and HIV would have increasingly got worse. Thankfully it didn't. Can't remember my viral load and CD4 count at the time but my consultant thought I'd possibly been positive for about 6 months. I'm now undetectable and have been for a number of years.
I really do admire your honesty. My brother and sister know and 3 close friends but it's not something I've ever felt comfortable telling people which makes me angry with myself. I remember a doctor telling me once that if he had to choose between being HIV or diabetes he'd choose HIV every time because once controlled you can live a "normal" life whereas diabetes is so much more limiting and damaging to your body. I'll never forget that.
I take 2 tablets at night and all's good. We're just lucky that we live in a country where treatment is not only readily available but also free.
Once again great video and I wish you well. 😊
Thanks so much for sharing your story my friend… lovely to hear from another poz person. Leaving this message is a brave move also my friend… glad to have you here.🙏👍❤️

Amazing story man, thanks for being courageous and tell us what you when through, I have been many many risk situations of hiv contagious… I’m happy not having any STD or risk behavior anymore. Now I’m passing through a serious drug problem. In the pass I was mixing drugs and promiscuity and that is the exactly road to death looks like…
Thanks for sharing my friend 🙏❤️
Thank you for standing up and sharing your story ❤
It’s my pleasure.🙏❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your story, and educating people. Ignorance can always make.people behave like animals and judge. Hiv has always been associated with gay men but that's not the case, anyone can get it. Hope you continue with a bright future ahead of you!
Thank so much for your support and understanding. Yes… there are many myths around HIV that need breaking down. It’s a pleasure getting a comment from someone who understands this. Bless you my friend and thanks again for your kind words and support.🙏👍❤️
Hello Peter, I thank you so much for your courage and openness to share your story with us🙏You are amazing 👍
You descriped the symptoms very in details ( I know from what you speak) and it is good that the younger generation, who has not grown up in a time of Hiv and Aids, where I lost many friends, hear iit. Hiv is still dangerous and damages the body (until the time you make a hiv test and then you get the therapie which is very effective). Its really great that you made this informative video. Thank you very much🙏👍

He should have mentioned IF he gave his AIDS to his Wife...That's what I'm wondering.
I don’t have AIDS… if you had a brain you’d realise this. And we both slept with other people. Please think before commenting again.👍
@@Peter.c106 how long was it after the sex did these symptoms start.
@@everydaynine_2282 I’m not sure, I don’t exactly know when I contracted HIV
I admire your honesty...Its what's needed to bring more awareness, maybe more will get tested ,I never knew Acid Reflux was a possible symptom ......
Yes, I had it quite bad as well. Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it.🙏❤️
It’s really important to clarify. People with HIV live just as long as non HIV people. Take and adhere to your medication. Really important you give accurate, up to date information.
I already have in many of my videos.👍 Thanks for your comment. Watch my video on life expectancy living with HIV.
@@Peter.c106 I am a an epidemiologist. But it’s important you mention this every time you make a video. HIV stigma is prevalent and people should be reassured. Thanks

Hello my friend… just trying to help where I can.🙏
Wow, treatment for HIV has really improved, down to one pill a day. In the early days of treatment, you had to take so many pills that made you sick too. Do you have any side effects from the pill you take and would you say you feel normal again?
Thanks for your comment and support. Yes only one pill a day… and I feel better than ever. Zero side effects.👍❤️
Stay strong 💪 my friend. Maintain your treatment 🙏.Get out of the house and go to attractions and try to enjoy your life.
I’m loving life thanks.👍❤️❤️❤️
Five weeks with a swollen lymph and rashes, why did he not just go to the GP? This is why sex-education must be taught in schools and sexually active people encouraged to get tested regularly. Kudos for sharing your story.
Thanks for your comment… as I said in the video I did go to my GP and they sent me home saying I probably had an infection of some sort. Nothing to worry about they said 🤷♂️
