I have a huge love for the 35i range of bmws, I even own one. And the smallish 135 has always tickled my fancy, and now there is a new one. And This potent performer marks the transition of the M division's iconic hot hatch into a new era, alongside the revamped standard 1 Series. Now before I do continue, I will say the pre 4 cylinder 1 series 35i models are just better in my opinion but that’s me. The idea of a staright 6 turbo fed hatch is just awesome. And No 4 cylinder can compete in my opinion. But this little hatch is still fast and note worthy so lets get into it.
The fourth-generation 1 Series retains its instantly recognizable silhouette while sporting a sharper aesthetic. The headlights have a more aggressive look, while the taillights borrow their design from the latest X2. The M135i, however, boasts a quad exhaust system inherited from the X1 M35i and X2 M35i, making a bold statement about its performance capabilities.
In a notable shift, BMW is phasing out the "i" designation (previously signifying "injection") from gas-powered model names. This is evident on the M135's tailgate, which proudly displays only the M badge. The M Performance treatment also includes M-specific side mirror caps, a signature element previously exclusive to full-fledged M cars. Similarly, the M badge adorns the kidney grille, and even the plastic engine cover gets the M treatment with a hint of faux carbon fiber.
