Hi. I had a small music shop in Turkey . I used to sell music cassettes, albums. I'm 57 now. I have been listening Led Zeppelin over 40 years with the same exact joy. I even had a chance to small chit chat with them that showed me how amazingly humble they were. They were the most important famous people I met in my life. They were so normal, sincere and gentlemen. No complimants or anything. We talked for about 20-25 minutes and drank tea with Robert. After the concert was finished I tried to learn where do they would stay in.Next day I''ve found and waited by the hotel. When Robert went out I kissed him and hugged him. He Asked me about the previous day's concert performance.I said time passed so fast like a dream. I said I came about 1000 km from my town Adana to İstanbul for the concert he said please drive carrefully. I took LZ 3 LP (which I've bought and brought back to that concert) in İtaly when I was 21 y.o. in 1983 and they signed the album LZ 3 Long Play. I even had a chance to small chit chat with them that showed me how amazingly humble they were. I was waiting for Jimmy, he was crouching and shopping at a peddler who sold cheap imitation watches near the hotel street. I talked to him for 5-6 minutes. He was also gentleman, sincere like a normal person. I loved them more because they are the most important band of history (according to me) and so normal people like a teacher or friends. I am hoping that I don't die before them and they keep playing their amazing music. Lucky me. I've also met Michael Lee. RİP Michael.Lee and Bonzo. You're the greatest drummers of all. At the concert it was forbidden taking photos.Security took the film from my camera. But I've hidden another film in my socks. So I've taken many photos:) There were somebody who recorded the all the sound of the concert his hands in the air all night long. After 30 years I've found him in internet. He'll give me the recordings of the concert and I'll give him the night's photos. Life is beautiful with Led Zeppelin. İsn't it? eminelektronikadana
I don't comment like this but after listening to your last video I had to make one. You have to be one of the top, by far the best, guitar teacher on YT. I always searched for lessons by you first when you were PT & I see you continue to maintain your high standards on this channel. Thanks for your efforts which is highly appreciated by not only myself but I am sure by many tens of thousands on YT. Ignore the morons as they are dime a dozen who lack talent & hv even less intellect. Tks again & I really do envy how fluidly you play.
the reason the called it Boogie with Stu is because Ian Stewart from the Stones showed up and played the piano with them and jammed with them and that's why it got the name. great name. They did it live one take is the one we all know.
Great lesson, great song, great playing, great guitar and great channel. I was legitamately bummed when i watched your farewell to privettricker vid. Really glad you've decided to keep us entertained as well as teach. Thanks!!
The Stones did Ian Stewart dirty. He didn't have the look Andrew Loog Oldman, the Stones manager wanted for the Stones. And the Stones didn't want him either. They kept him on as some type of off hands management until his fatal heart attack.
Very similar to the chord progression of Midnight Rambler without the capo. Thanks for the lessons, they really are a tremendous help to us less gifted players. o/
Philip Heying It all began with those 12 bar blues rock n roll songs in the 50s like Johnny be goode, long tall sally etc, and those 50s songs took their progression from the real old blues and country tunes, that progression was even used in blues songs from the 1920's haha
In one of his interview Page said that he actually played guitar on the record. He tuned his guitar to the old piano (played by Stu) what was standing in the Headly Grange hall. And Jonsey with Robert start clapping their hands while Bonzo played tambourine. P.S. Sorry for my English grammar)
Awesome man!!! Zep is my second fave to Rush & Steely Dan follows there after . . Love the Guitar . . . I have a really nice Gibson large body too but it is not a Hummingbird. I guess I must be some kind of folk fan because a lot of rock that involved folk really turns me on like Zep & Tull . . . I learned my fave Mother Goose by Tull a few years ago . . It was a bitch to learn and play! I can't even remember how to play it now . . that is why I wish I would have just recorded ever thing I learned in the past so I have a record of it. lol Anyhow thx a lot for sharing all your musical adventures. You have a great style, great presence & great attitude too.
Thanks ! As always a very straight up lesson :-) Any thought on what might have been used for the percussion track. Short of the kick it sounds like rims to me. Thx
I know cat videos are more up everybody's alley but If you have a few minutes, I'd love to get your thoughts on my songs/videos. I'm always trying to improve. I know how busy we all are and truly appreciate you taking a moment to watch. Thanks! Tiff
I taught myself to play this by accident just screwing around. Have you heard Plant play the guitar. I saw him once at music store playing a guitar of Elvis he sounded OK . Roger Daltery seems to play quite well . Thanks
Could you do a video, that doesn't necessarily have to be a lesson, on The Battle of Evermore? That song has always blown me away but I can't find a good tab for it. I would love to see you try it!
Thanks for posting your guitar tutorial for this classic by Led Zeppelin. The sheet music for the great piano part (which was played by Ian 'Stu' Stewart) can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
Thanks for reply. You have a massive collection of beautiful guitars. I've seen the LP,the paisley Tele, there's Gretsch. I used to have the pink Tele, it got stolen on the road. Replaced it with the blue paisley, but that one always reminded me of the floor in a bathtub, when people stick those rubber things so they don't slip.BTW - I agree with you on 'Let it Bleed" (the song) probably having the guitar for Slide tuned down to Open C. Just thought I'd mention it here...I'm going to go to the actual post.
You don't need to know how far down. Just tune your A string to the first chord of the song. Then tune all the other strings according to that A string. Trust your ears.
@@jreagle58 I don't think it's Jimmy. In the interviews for the re-release of PG a few years ago, Jimmy told the story of how he had to tune his guitar to the piano because the piano was so out-of-tune. It's possible he also overdubbed the mando part, but not likely. Jimmy is not a master of the mandolin, as evidenced by the live versions of Battle of Evermore from the '77 tour. He couldn't even play the intro onstage the same way he did it in the studio.
I wish they'd played this one during the acoustic set in '77 instead of Battle of Evermore. Jonesy could have taken the piano part and really had fun with it.
I don’t know why people think that. Jimmy has said many times that Battle of Evermore was the first and only time he played mandolin on a Zeppelin track.
larceny93 Jimmy played mandolin on Battle of Evermore, not on this. They were recorded around the same time, but Evermore was the first time Jimmy ever picked up a mandolin, and the chords he used were the simplest possible. He didn't master mandolin immediately and play this. Jonesy was and is an outstanding mando player. It's definitely Jonesy on this.

Lollipop hilarity
A whole new way to play the 12 Bar Blues..Loves your lessons..Thanks in advance to the next song you do.
Physical Graffiti Album is one of my Favorite Disk 2 in the light.. Nice work.
Thank you. Always liked that song. Really cool groove.
another simple explanation without flourishes and fanfare. you are simply a master.

Love the song! You break it down very well. I can tell your a really good teacher and guitar player. I think Jimmy would be proud. Rock on brother! Ty
Thank you , will try to play it. Love those repeating riffs, as you say good exercices.
I always appreciate your time for your lessons.
Excelente desde Buenos Aires Argentina Mil Gracias!!!
Stu was the man, thx for posting!!!
If Robert Plant can play it anyone can. haha
lol
JTSKATE12 .....Right but he also had the worlds best Guitarist as his teacher.
Actually I heard plant was ok 🎸 player.
I thought I figured out to this in the car. James is the perfect person you can watch to check your work.
Very similar to the chord progression of Midnight Rambler without the capo. Thanks for the lessons, they really are a tremendous help to us less gifted players. o/
sparkymoo The chord progression is similar to 90% of all rock songs!
I would say it sounds more like "Rock and Roll" that "Midnight Rambler"
It actually sounds more like Ooh My Head by Richie Valens. :)
James James
The endlessly amusing chord progression... lol

This is exactly the lesson I’ve been looking for!! Great explanation, great video! Thanks!
You have been one of my guitarist to learn from. Thanks for all the help...
Another great lesson PT. Thanks for sharing.
That's a great looking guitar. Tasty lines and a great pickguard. Being a Martin snob has its disadvantages... :)

Thankyou very much for this awesome guitar lesson 👍👍👍
After all the years of learning from James James, I consider ya family-thanks!
Great stuff, as usual James.
Great lesson and a great song. Definitely agree with you last comment that you have to first be a good rhythm player to be good at lead.
Excellent! Ive always enjoyed that song.
Great lesson, teacher!! Thank's so much! I love this song, now I am able to execute it!
Great Lesson,I will play till my fingers Bleed..Thanks again
what a great beginner practice exercise. many thanks.
Badass lesson, spot on
Thanks ! As always a very straight up lesson :-) Any thought on what might have been used for the percussion track. Short of the kick it sounds like rims to me. Thx
that's a great song. simple is best!

Love your Bron-Yr-Aur cover
Apparently Page was the one playing mandolin. And the guitar is slightly out of tune because the piano was slightly out of tune.
Can I flag the guy who just requested Bon Jovi?
Brucie
🤣 Lol....
✌️🤪👍
Great lesson. Thank you. There’s an old black-and-white video of Ritchie Valens playing this song i’ve seen here on RUclips. Cheers!
Awesome James James !
I always wondered if it was in open tuning because of ‘jangle’ sound. Great video.
You're one of the best guitar player on RUclips. keep rocking but try to do some bon jovi song like let it rock or keep the faith
Brilliant demos J
Original song is by Ritchie Valens it's called "ooh my head"
Thanks - sounds great!
I taught myself to play this by accident just screwing around. Have you heard Plant play the guitar. I saw him once at music store playing a guitar of Elvis he sounded OK . Roger Daltery seems to play quite well . Thanks

Thanks so much, James!

Awesome.... Thank you!
Thanks! -A perfect lesson for my level. And great fun too.
I just noticed how many similarities this has with the Beatles "Revolution" because my fingers kept wanting to play that...
can you do a lesson on the acoustic solo?
Fun song!
Where did you get that shirt?
Cool lesson
What kind of guitar are you using? Love the tutorial thanks!
Gibson J200
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!
Cmon just rock rock rock! Hey baby!
thanks for this.
pretty Good, Thanks
Good tune
A BIG thank you, this helped me a lot.
I was unaware that Robert Plant plays the lead guitar on this. That’s crazy if it’s true!
Not really lead, he played the rhythm guitar that is taught here.
Nice - not seen yiu for awhile buddy🤔🤔☹️✌️💜
Thanks for posting your guitar tutorial for this classic by Led Zeppelin. The sheet music for the great piano part (which was played by Ian 'Stu' Stewart) can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
Awesome
Could you re do Whole Lotta Love?
Thank you
What happened to your cover of "Angel" from the PT channel?
S. Fitzpatrick Experience Hendrix sent me a cease and desist, so that one was removed.
That's a bummer man. I was listening to the Rod Stewart cover, and thinking about Ronnie Wood and how he is very underrated as a guitar player.
S. Fitzpatrick When Ronnie was in the Faces, he was underrated. With the Stones, he is overrated.
Yean, that's true, It's hard to listen to any Stones albums beyond Tattoo You.
is that a Gibson you're playing?
Yes, a J200.
Thanks for reply. You have a massive collection of beautiful guitars. I've seen the LP,the paisley Tele, there's Gretsch. I used to have the pink Tele, it got stolen on the road. Do you know the exact tuning? 1/2 Step? I cant seem to get it right.
Why does the beginning of the song sound like the mandolin solo in the middle of the song ?
+Bluponi This is the bonus track version from the PG reissue.
Which guitar do you play and which exact model?
That’s a Gibson J200.
This is the best!!!! Where is my guitar???? Lemmie get it! :)
I am a beginner and I like this tank you
Perfect ❤😂🎉😢
Do someone knows what is the other musics that Robert Plant played in the rythm guitar?
Battle of Evermore and Down By the Seaside, according to some.
My room sounds like the Mississippi river
Hello sir
Do you have a sheet or chords progression? Tabs?
Thanks in advance
Boogie with James!
Спасибо 🎉
Quick question. James states everything is tuned down on this song? 1/2 step, full step? Anyone know the tuning ? thanks...
You don't need to know how far down. Just tune your A string to the first chord of the song. Then tune all the other strings according to that A string. Trust your ears.

Thank You !
What it leaves Page to do, is rip some nasty, tasty and killer blues licks and runs in the A pentatonic scale.
I believe it's Jimmy on the mandolin
Yes, he did. While I'm sure the multi-talented JP Jones was capable, it was Jimmy. Zep didn't use session musicians.

I wish they'd played this one during the acoustic set in '77 instead of Battle of Evermore. Jonesy could have taken the piano part and really had fun with it.
Bacana! 🤙🎶🛸
Hmm it appears as if I've neglected the one finger A chord... I can't play the single notes without muting the D string
Fun! I'm ready to boogie now..where the f is stu??
