Dutch National Anthem: Wilhelmus
The Wilhelmus was officially adopted as the national anthem of the Netherlands in 1932, but it was written between 1569 and 1572. This makes it the oldest national anthem in the world [source: netherlandsandyou.nl].

I wonder why the anthem mentioned the king of Spain.

Spain used to rule the Netherlands and William of Orange used to serve the King of Spain, and now chooses to serve his people.
this was written before the 80 years of war/ revolt with Spain. pretty much a distrack
the Netherlands hated Spain so much it went as far as to create the "Spanish Black Legend" which is pretty much anti-spanish anti-catholic propaganda

This was written around the beginning of the revolt against Spain, William of Orange used to serve the King of Spain but now its revolting hence why the king is mention on this anthem, to go against the king is to go against someone appointed by god, but he is being loyal to his people which is why he is saying he served with honor the king of spain, this is why the entire anthem god and the lord is mention on every verse
overall is a 6/10 anthem, its basically a disstrack with not a single chorus and mentions god or the lord on every verse.

Van duitsen bloed = from german blood= von deutschen Blut

It is a correct translation if you look at old Dutch. The original text is "Ben ick, van Duytschen bloet", where Duytschen can mean Dutch (guess where that came from), Germanic or native. The problem is that Duytschen disappeared/changed meaning in our language and they could not replace it with Nederlands due to syllables so Duitsen was chosen

Heb ick altijt gheeert". The German Translation from 1582 "Wilhelmus von Nassawe

hab ich allzeit geehrt." 500-600 Years Ago in the netherlands they were speaking "nederduytsch" = "niederdeutsch" = "nederduits" = "dutch", a german dialect. Later they changed it from Duytsch (=Deutsch) to "dutch". Ofc modern dutch has changed alot and has drifted more and more away from german. They want their "own identity, culture, language and so on". We germans always saw them as our brothers, even when Germany invaded the netherlands, the germans did that because of Britian, not because to fight against their dutch brothers.
