- A journey underground at one of South Africa's oldest gold mines in the Barberton area, Mpumalanga Province.
Filmed using a GoPro, the video shows the numerous and typical stages involved in the journey to the rock face on the underground mining level, final depth from surface approx 2 Km ! Наука
I appreciate the safety standards of this South African mine operation

Incredible engineering
Great way to get miners in and out without driving a vertical shaft and putting in an elevator great thinking indeed
Never seen a tram system like this at any mine I worked at. Only on the skii. Hill
innovative, but I don't see this one working out for an evac situation.....they have to see who purchased a lift ticket before you get to leave 👀
In SA we call it the bycycle. Casue in some way its like riding a bike
Bellissimo video 👍
I worked on a gold mine as a miner for 9 years
What mine is this at ?
super.........
That’s cool
Ok
what is the red line at the wall
Grade ....line
Its the grade line. This line is accompanied by survey pegs which help with direction and elevation. This is to help with drainage so water flows naturally to the lowest point.
Kwela bicyle
Chairlift I was very scared of them

I have so many questions!!!!
Go for it..😀
Fire away. Ive worked on South African mines for 24 years underground
Background music totally spoils it
Nobody is dirty ! That ain’t a mine, more like a movie set.
Wait until you get to the lower levels, that’s where it all happens.. definitely no movie set!
Definitely not wait till you get to the stopes where they are drilling with machines
everything they're installing is just to make them feel safer..... anyone who works underground knows when the rock fails it's game over,if you were lucky some dribble off the hanging wall might give you a second or two head start
