  • A journey deep underground at one of South Africa's oldest gold mines in the Barberton area, Mpumalanga Province.
Filmed using a GoPro, the video shows the numerous and typical stages involved in the journey to the working area rock face, final depth from surface approx 2 Km !
Using a series of chairlifts, a special elevator fondly nicknamed "The Giraffe" and low profile underground vehicles, this is the journey travelled by numerous mine workers everyday.

Wait until you get to the lower levels, that’s where it all happens.. definitely no movie set!

everything they're installing is just to make them feel safer..... anyone who works underground knows when the rock fails it's game over,if you were lucky some dribble off the hanging wall might give you a second or two head start
