Gav C gives a rundown of the superbly versatile Hughes and Kettner Switchblade 50 Combo amplifier. GUitar is a Fret-King Corona 70 and the amp mic was a Lewitt LCT940
Cheers Nick! I've been using the Switchblade for a few years now, I love it. Tempted to go for the Triamp next, when funds allow....But also want a Tubemeister 36 lol. Decisions, decisions... As for the Corona 70 - I just couldn't resist getting one.
very interested in knowing more about having pedals on all the time but only being used when the patch is engaged. How does that work please? I'm interested in getting the head version of this
Hey bud. I own one. The fx loop is programmable for each patch to be switched on or off. Therefore, if you have effects in the loop, leave them on and hit the effects loop button in the back, dial your tone and save. That patch will have whatever pedals engaged integrated in the sound. Next patch you dial, if you dont want effects, dial in the tone and turn off the fx loop button. So it only works for pedals in the loop, not the front of the amp. Gavin said overdrive, which is not the best example for this amp feature, of course when the camera is rolling its like any other performance Message me directly if youd like. I love this amp. I dont know if I uploaded a video of the amp, but check my channel, I might have some clips
Hi- no its excellent at low volumes too - you can drive the channel volume hard then turn down the master. Ive used it for both gigging and teaching and it always performs well.
Nick Thorne Although you can't turn off the chorus on an individual patch its an absolute doddle to set up one patch with chorus on, and the next patch exactly the same with the chorus off. Still only one button push to get between them.
Nick Thorne I'd go with this one if you're still torn. Reason being that on a larger gig you can simply place a mic in front of it if it's needed. And considering this amp has a lot more functionality than a TM18 does, it's kind of a no-brainer in my opinion.
great video and I love the pedal board but hell I dont like the sounds after listening to the orange tiny terror..it sounds like soild state junk on overdrives
The big problem with This AMP is when you use the switch A B C D, you have a Little sound Cut. It's impossible to goes between switchs without the sound Cut. 🤦 And the problem in This video is that the Guy stop to Play when he change the switch.
Great video, and now I want it! How many kidney's does a human need?

Seems a great amp, very useful for gigging thats for sure. Think I'd still go for a Puretone though, those things are incredible sounding.
Yep the Puretone is a monster - from angel to demon in the turn of a dial!
Great Amp.
Awesome video Gav, heavily considering a H&K for purchase next year. I spy a lovely Corona 70 in your hands as well ;-)
Thanks dude! :-)
Overdrive in the FX loop....... does that mean the FX loop is BEFORE the preamp?
What ohm is the speaker cable connected to on the back?
8ohm
thx

Bill Jaroszewski is completely correct, thank you!
Gavin Coulson
What is this like at low volume? Is there enough gain or does it suffer from the same problem old school Marshalls did?
Hi- no its excellent at low volumes too - you can drive the channel volume hard then turn down the master. Ive used it for both gigging and teaching and it always performs well.
Is it possible to have a patch with say, chorus, then turn off the chorus on the fly?
Nick Thorne Although you can't turn off the chorus on an individual patch its an absolute doddle to set up one patch with chorus on, and the next patch exactly the same with the chorus off. Still only one button push to get between them.
Gavin Coulson thanks for the reply Gav. I'm torn between this and a tube meister 18 for small gigs. I think this one is winning...

I think he's overdoing the FX which is muddin' things up a bit.

I've got H&K Matrix. Is this the valve equivalent of it?
I hear your room only.
Loll you will have i sound Cut between each swich, an AMP you can not use with footswitch! Shame on h&k...
terrible demonstraction
And best part of you ran down the inside of your mommas leg.
