    Three sisters from Monterrey, MX. The band started in 2012. They became The Warning in 2013. Today they are Dany, guitarrist 23, Pau, drummer 21, and Ale, bassist 19.
    In 2022 they did over 100 gigs in North and South America opening for Foo fighters, Halestorm, the Pretty Reckless, Three Days Grace, and Guns ‘n Roses. In 2023 they did 75 shows in thirteen countries, opening for Muse nine times, opening for Guns and Roses, and playing at the MTV VMAs. In 2024 they will play Shiprock, Tecate P’al Norte Festival in Monterrey, Vive Latino festival in Mexico City, tour Europe, Mad Cool festival in Madrid, and the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany.
    They are classically trained pianists; Dany & Ale have played sax in the past. All three sing lead and background vocals; Dany is the principal singer. They were inspired by the video game Rock Band and two of their songs are available on Rock Band IV. They were on the Ellen Show in 2015.
    They are fully bilingual as they attended a bilingual Catholic school in Monterrey, Liceo de Monterrey. Later, all graduated high school through home schooling. They attended Berklee College of Music Summer Program in Boston in 2015.
    They started as a cover band; the Enter Sandman cover launched their career. They now have 49 original songs in an EP, three albums, two singles, and two unreleased performed songs. No bad songs. Their newest released single, More, came out May 12th. Two new unreleased songs debuted at their Guadalajara concert. They have a rich collection of live videos, music videos and lyric videos on their channel. There are also vlogs and individual performances.
    Their most legendary concerts with professionaly shot video are:
    - Liceo de Monterrey 2015
    - TEDx at University of Nevada Reno 2017
    - Dakota Bar 2018
    - Lunario 2018
    - Foro Didi 2019
    - Whisky a Go Go 2019 & 2020
    - Quarantine Concert 2020
    - Teatro Metropolitan CDMX (4K and HD audio) 2022
    - UK private show (acoustic and electric, now public) 2023
    When not performing they are humble down to earth individuals. Dany is a goofball and sweetheart, Pau talks with passion like a machine gun, and Ale is an introvert and a perfectionist.
    When you fall down The Warning rabbit hole, you can’t go back!!

    Hey all, It's great to see you back so soon. I guarantee you will not be disappointed by these amazing sisters. After a lifetime of following the rock world I've never encountered anyone as consistently awesome, most reactors that check out The Warning run out of adjectives very quickly. You're discovering them at the right time because 2024 will be big year for them. New album, 2 singles, several festivals, European tour and the summer isn't even half booked yet. Enjoy!

      Anytime a reactor falls into the rabbit hole of The Warning, there are usually two videos I will recommend first. I always feel it is important for them to understand where things started and their commitment, dedication and passion for what they do. So the first video is usually their 2014 cover of Enter Sandman , and the second one is the 2017 TEDx presentation from start to end including the commentary between songs, which to me is almost as important as the songs themselves.

    If you liked Paulina (drummer) you guys need to check out "Dust to Dust" from this same concert at Teatro Metropolitan. She sings lead and plays drums!
    Dani (guitarist) is the main singer of the band but Paulina sings lead in a few of their songs and sometimes they share singing duties like in "Disciple" or "Survive". Ale (bassist) doesn't like to sing lead (she's more than capable of doing it, btw) so she only does backing vocals.
    Like others have said, any song you pick from this concert is a banger. These girls are super talented and amazing live performers.

    Actually, no, they did not learn to play from Rock Band - they’re all classically trained in piano, then Rock Band inspired them to their next instruments- and they’ve all had training on those instruments as well, including a summer class at Berklee. 🔥🤘#NumberlyGarfs

    • @DadDaughtersandDrinks
      @DadDaughtersandDrinks  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, I realize I spoke a bit inaccurately there (I did know about the piano training). I also would never actually say anyone could learn to play from Rock Band (and mean it). I often times used to get bad scores on Rock Band for songs I could play completely well on an actual guitar! I also saw the band Rush playing Tom Sawyer on Rock Band and doing miserably :-) (And looking at a further comment, it looks like the same thing happened to the Warning!)

    I’m 65, these three Gen Z ladies moved me to buy my first concert tickets in this millennium, to see them open for Three Days Grace. Your comment about being “…too late” is interesting, as their audience actually seems to be getting younger in N. America, and is already closer to their own age in Latin America. The average age of the crowd at the TDG concert was 30-40 years old, and most had never heard of The Warning. After The Warning’s set the “Holy Crap” response from the crowd was awesome to witness. People all around me had their phones out researching the band and downloading their music while still at the concert. Some spotted my TW hat and came up to me asking questions about the band. I walked right up to their merch table on arrival, but the lineup at the break and post concert was huge.

    Great to see reactors interested in what a band is saying. And in case of The Warning it is not only what they are saying but also how they are saying it. I like Lily's enquiry about captions because not many listeners today are into lyrics. The video editing at Teatro doesn't always focus on the singer in Disciple. If it had then you would have realized that Pau is a lead singing drummer.
    Every song from The Warning needs to be reviewed with the lyrics, innate message & back story, if available because they are the most intellectual band to emerge in decades. Their profound metaphorical songwriting on contemporary society sets them apart from the crowd.
    So you can always read what the band says about their songs during your reviews. Their ages at the time of composing a song & playing it in public should be noted too in reviews.
    This song is about how social media controls us with fabricated info. Pau, the drummer, got inspired about the main riff in a Canadian supermarket in 2019. She came home, composed the 1st draft on her piano including the bass intro and called her sisters. They were 19, 17 & 14 then.
    That is why Dany, guitarist, starts the song as an antagonist with "The sun is YOUR enemy today" while Pau picks it up as a disciple in the 2nd verse with "The sun is MY enemy today". The sisters trade off lead vocals as demanded by the script. You can identify the difference in their vocal textures. Ale, the bassist, mainly harmonizes in the lower frequencies with infrequent falsettos as required by the song.
    The Warning are masters in composing in minor scales. Quite often they introduce a full sequence of major chords for the same verse to break the monotony. And that downward bend in vocals here is typically The Warning with this likely progression G Bb E A G#m . I mean G & G#m in the same sequence - incredible.
    Among their 3 full albums & 2 EPs the girls have published a concept album in 2018 called Queen of the Murder Scene where they have mused over unrequited love, death, self harm, suicide & lunacy. Pau was in middle school going through her emo phase when she tabled the 1st draft in front of her sisters. Just to keep it in context, five decades back Roger Waters dealt with death, lunacy & depression in The Dark Side of the Moon.
    Dive into their rabbit hole that stretches back more than a decade to when they were playing classical piano as 6-8 year olds. Its all on YT. They have practically grown up on social media. After watching your reaction I am confident that you won't be disappointed. Happy diving to you from India.

    • @DadDaughtersandDrinks
      @DadDaughtersandDrinks  6 месяцев назад +1

      That chord progression is pretty gnarly for sure. I just had to play it to see what you meant, and I'll need to listen closer to that. I also appreciate your comment on Roger Waters writing DSOtM, one of my all time favorites. As has been said about it many times - possibly the greatest album of all time, and still not Pink Floyd's best album. hahaha.

    • @MrSudeepdas
      @MrSudeepdas 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@DadDaughtersandDrinks DSOtM is the greatest album IMHO. Followed by Another Brick In The Wall. The former succeeded because of its lyrical darkness.
      Pink Floyd, Dire Straits & the blues - that's my usual music domain. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath & Led Zep - that's the hardest I could go on an intermittent basis.
      But these girls changed all that. I have never listened to hard rock for such a long stretch before. They even made me watch MTV after 3 decades. Never thought I would ever cry to a rock band.
      They published QOTMS as a 2nd full album in 2018. Don't think in rock history a band has published a concept album as their 2nd LP before. Had it been the 70s, 80s it would have won Grammies. Sadly not now, as nobody listens to what a band is saying; how it is saying. In that album Pau delivered some Dylan-esque metaphors & dark poetry close to Waters. Check their concert at Lunario Auditorium in Mexico City where they debuted QOTMS on 25.11.18. Even better if you review it song by song.

    Everybody loves Pau (POW!) - she's an instant star behind that kit. It took me quite a while to see past her to the other two, but Dani (guitar) and Ale (bass) are both extremely talented as well. Pau is also the primary songwriter, beginning her songs on piano before bringing them to her sisters to turn them into fully-fleshed out rock songs. She's also an amzing singer - check out Dust To Dust, or 23 for some of that.
    Dust To Dust is the opening track for their 2018 concept album Queen Of The Murder Scene, released when they were 13, 16, and 18. These girls are very ambitious, and just celebrated their 10 year anniversary as a band.

    The band also more reminds me of Triumph then Rush. They are all trios, but Triumph and The Warning both have singing a singing drummer and a singing guitarist, and drummers. In both band the guitarists sing the lead mostly, but a fair share go to the drummers and have almost equally impressive voices. Both Triumph and the Warning have mostly positive, socially conscious lyrics.

      Ha, I was almost going to mention Triumph when I first started watching the Warning, but didn't think many people would know who they are. One of my bummers in life is that I never got to see Triumph live, although I did get to see Rik Emmett live in the late 80s. Learning his classical style instrumentals by ear in high school (Midsummer Daydream, Fantasy Serenade, Petit Etude, etc.) are some of my fondest memories of learning to play guitar. I like your comparison here.

    *Disciple* is one of their songs about social media and how it affects people in ways they don't even know...
    Dany sings the part of the "leader"... Pau sings the part of a "follower" or "disciple"... basically they're speaking about how people take what they see on social media and believe it, whatever it is... in this way, certain groups out there control the narrative and what is happening... this is a cynical song telling people to think for themselves and not believe everything they see or hear...
    *XXI Century Blood* , *Z* , and *Kool-Aid Kids* are three others that also speak about social media... the 1st one, XXICB, has an OMV that tells a story... it and the director were nominated for (and won?) several awards when it was released in 2017 when Dany was 17, Pau was 15, and Ale was 12 😹

      The idea of classic-rock style songs being about social media is such a mind-melter to me, as up until now, those things existed about 30+ years apart from each other. I'll need to check those others out.

      @@DadDaughtersandDrinks come on in! the rabbit hole has plenty of room available for everyone to enjoy DPA/TW's original songs and the covers they made in their early years... another suggestion is their cover of the Foo Fighter's *The Pretender* they did outside on a hill near their home town... audio is from the first take and they did two or three more takes for more action shots since they had only one camera... yes, they did play live in all four takes... we're holding the door for ya's! 😹
