The city core of Stockholm you mention, Norrmalm and Stureplan, has it’s own culture and prices. Not very many people live in Norrmalm. Mostly tourism, business, shopping and partylife there. Most of the citizens live somewhere else. I live 10 kilometers from Stockholm City, in another community, and the only time I go in to Stockholm City is to meet friends, go to a restaurant, a museum or something else. Manhattan is not the same as New York. Recommend you to go testing other areas of Stockholm Region and maybe you get a wider reference frame. Stockholm City is one thing, and the other 22 communities in the Stockholm area have their own prices and social culture.
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective about Stockholm culture! I definitely do plan on checking out other parts of Stockholm. It’s nice to know there are 22 communities to explore. Thank you again. 🙏🏾🇸🇪
No one uses laundry matts in sweden. Either you have your own in your apartment or the building you live in has a laundry room that all people who are living their can book every time they need to and it is included in the rent. So ask the one you renting from where in the building the room is and how you can book it😊
black woman here born and raised in sthlm. you nailed almost everything. I was a bit confused about the laundry thing, I've never in my life paid for it.
I appreciate your comment bro! Unfortunately i didn’t have a washer machine, so I had to use the laundromat in my area in Norrmalm. I wish I had my own washer machine though. Thanks again for watching 💪🏾💯
Everything you said is true! I’m born, raised and still live in Stockholm! When I went out to the clubs here (20 years ago) the bouncers were exactly like that, guess something’s never change (and it’s NOT personal). What did you think about the cover charge? That really annoyed me back then because if one place isn’t good I like to go somewhere else but changing clubs/bars also ends up being very expensive, and this was 20 years ago.
Thank you for sharing your experience Pernilla!! I think it’s cool how you’ve seen Stockholm over 20 years. The cover charges do suck. Luckily, my favorite bars do not have cover charges (Soap Bar, Rigoletto). As always, I appreciate you for watching ☺️
Swedes are hard to crack open, but once you do...they are very loyal friends. And yes, we are very friendly. But It's just like you said..We hang out in our own circle of friends and that's it. As a visiting person i would highly suggest joining groups who are in your situation, often those people know people who know people and then you're on track to a more social enviroment 😋
Thanks 🙏 for sharing your experience in Stockholm city oh yeah stockholm city has a diverse population with individuals who have different personalities and social behaviours. Cultural norms and social interactions can vary from person to person and are influenced by factors such as upbringing, personal experiences and social values.one of the main factors is the high cost of living in Stockholm in general ,the country has a high standard of living and provides a wide range of social benefits, including excellent healthcare education and social security systems.these social benefits are funded through higher taxes, which can contribute to the overall higher costs of goods and services and l lived in that city for over 3 years and now l live in London 🇬🇧 uk.l love your videos bro keep up your insightful contents.🙏🇬🇧
Thank you for your comment bro! I appreciate you for sharing your perspective on Stockholm. I will make sure to keep the content coming as I travel! Thanks for tuning in 🙏🏾
As a swede I would clarify: Stockholm is not Sweden, and Sweden is not Stockholm. It has its own identity, and many (or most?) swedes have a love/hate-relationship with the city and the identity of its people. I think all people in the world can be friendly, but it takes different types of strategies to come close as friends. I think scandinavian and japanese people are similar when it comes to socializing (with swedes being a bit more social). Interesting to see the interactions as you have done, not only talking about it 👍
Thank you for sharing!! I love seeing the comments from my Swedes! Really appreciate your perspective here. Stockholm is its own world from what I’ve been hearing. Thanks again for watching and sharing! 🙏🏾🇸🇪
As a black American male I want to thank you for giving us an idea of what travel life is like SPECIFICALLY for us. Most black content creators who make videos abroad are usually Africans of black American women but not black American men. I went to London by myself and it would have been nice to know how we are received abroad to know what to expect. Not all black people are exactly the same due to our cultural and historical difference. Therefore it’s good to have someone rep the bros back home. We need to see more experiences from an FBA brotha’s perspective. 💯
Stockholm is super tough if you're just relying on dating apps or cold approach, even though dating apps appear to be a big thing here the girls on it are pickier than anywhere else and have insane ghosting rate.
I would discourage anyone from going out in Stureplan, there are so many other places that are better. Yea you need friends to make friends. Same with hooking up with someone, best is via work, School, or friends. You may get a one night stand by going to bars, but it's rare that those results in relationships. Stockholm can be expensive, but if you know where to go it doesn't have to be, a beer may cost $15 or it may cost $3. Same for meals, yeah you can eat for $25 or for $5, or you can cook yourself and pay $1. Laundry mats aren't a thing here, the appartment blocks always have free to use laundry in the basement. Again, it depends on where, but there are some bars that are infamous for being racist or only letting in girls, or having strange age restictions, or dress codes. And they apply it different depending on how they feel about you. Swedes loves to talk English, so if an American or Brit comes around we switch to English and get talkative
@@Syd_The_Don Right, yeah, thanks. But it's not my thoughts, I was born in 1968 and have spent most of my life in Stockholm, I'm no expert but I know a fair bit
I would say it's not just Stockholm that's anti social, it's a Swedish thing in general, but there are exxeptions of course. If you go to a small town or a village you can get a hello back. But not always. I live in a small town and people don't say hello here haha. But that doesn't mean peopleare not friendly and won't help you if you ask. It's just that it's not part of our culture in general. Personally I could never go up to a complete stranger andtalk to them. That would be so weird. We keep to ourselves. It might seem as cold but once you get to know us we're very nice. I feel that's more genuine and real. Btw, at first I thought you were just being fun and cute when you say SwedE lol, but you continued to do it so I'm just assuiming you think that's what it's called, right?? It's pronounced Sweed/Sweeds
Thank you for your comment! I agree with all of your points here! My experience matches everything you said. And I believed it to be “Swedes” 😂 that’s what I’ve been saying to the Swedish people here in Stockholm when I talk to them, and they haven’t corrected me 😂 but thanks so much for your input!! 🙏🏾🇸🇪
I never said I knew all about Stockholm 😂 these are my observations after being here for a few weeks and talking to my Swede friends who made these points as well.
That’s interesting…because all of my Swedish friends who live in Stockholm agree with everything I said in this video. I guess we all don’t know what we’re talking about 😂
they where friendly because you where american tourist but they arent that friendly too black people who live or a born in Sweden you get treated as second class citizen ,the second biggest political party is a racist one called sverigedemokraterna/ ,Swedish democrats
Sverigedemokraterna was the second largest political party amongst non- European immigrants in Sweden as well with 16% of the votes in the last national election, while 22% of native born Swedes voted for them.
Thank you for your comment!! I’ve talked to a few of the black Swedes and some of them did say they feel that they do get treated differently. I’m not surprised. Thanks for watching and sharing your knowledge!

@@Syd_The_Don Have you checked for laundry room in your apartment community building? There is in 9/10(at least) times when you live in an apartment.
@@actionalex3611 unfortunately, there isn’t a laundry room in my apartment building. I wish there was!
Stockholm is special, it’s not like that in the rest of the country. It gets cheaper and better as far as you can come from that place.

Thanks for the heads up bro. I’m from the UK(London) and will be visiting Stockholm very soon and I find this to be very useful 👊🏾

@@Syd_The_Don About the bouncers. Try Södermalm(south side) instead. Everyone, people and bouncers, is a bit(a lot) more laid back in my experience.
