    When you explained there is no randomness on Joe Rogan I had never thought of it that way. It’s not a hard concept but I just never looked at it from that point of view. That opened a door. I see reading and intellectual exercises as ways/tools to open more doors in the mind. Truth is deep inside like meaning is deep inside. Like a gold in a mountain you have to keep digging and knocking down obstacles. I see religion as a guide. A guide through the dark like a old wise man with lantern walking in front of you through the darkness.

    To understand Tao Te Ching, (since the book itself is very kurt and small) I would advise reading 'the parables of Chuang Tzu'. It is very funny, possibly 2nd century BC it was written, the writer is much more scholarly and linguistic than Tao Te Ching, yet it follows the master Lao Tzu profoundly. Chuang Tzu makes fun of Confucius every chance he gets. It's a very beautiful text about what it means to truly live with the Tao, the way. There is no good, no bad. At one point, Chuang Tzu asks a king to to learn what it means to live with the Tao by visiting a Butcher! It's contrarian to many of us because we think this religion is very non-violent, which is true, but Chuang Tzu praises how spiritual and the Butcher's competence in cutting animals have risen to Tao. For your information, Chuang Tzu was the one who created that parable of the butterfly and the man. Who is dreaming? The sleeping butterfly or the sleeping man? You asked what are good references for Tao Te Ching. There are two, Chuang Tzu and Lieh Tzu, but for me, Chuang Tzu is even better than the Tao Te Ching to me.

    Really enjoyed the segment on the meaning of life, I didn’t think it’d go that deep. What’s interesting is that each philosophy no matter where it comes from is subject to an endless degree of scrutiny and interpretation. Nihilism on one end is true in that we’re incredibly small in the grand scheme of the universe, however the typical Nihilist takes this notion to dark and apathetic place when they start feeling the sense that nothing we do is important. They become overwhelmed by the vastness of the universe and essentially shut down. They give up on trying to understand or be a part of that vastness. This defeatist attitude often spills over into other aspects of their lives, and can become an enabler for personal failure. It’s a dangerous trap to fall into, the same as any extreme can be. Totally keep this kind of content up, I love it just as much as the fitness and fight information. Great discussion! Thank you, as always, for the learning experience!

      To believe that truth can be absolute you assume that you can flawlessly observe or reason this truth. In my opinion the quest for truth is folly since you are not perfect. If there is a perfect being, only that can know absolute truth.

      Great discussion. Hope we get to talk about it some more. Men are flawed, hence only God can reveal absolute truth. No one else can produce perfect proof. The only things we do know is without doubt is “consciousness”. “Consciousness” cannot be doubted. Hence it is a perfect proof. Hence it comes from God. This is the start of knowledge. This is no longer belief but rather knowledge. It escapes the above mentioned paradox.

    2+2 =- 4 is NOT an absolute truth; just a strong tendancy. Kurt Godel proved this mathmatically with his 'Incommensurability theorem'. I believe in different species of truth, but as far as human perceptual ability faculty goes: I only believe in perspectives, angles, and ways of understanding. The True face of reality lies beyond the human being's ability to adequately perceive.

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  6 лет назад +5

      I agree with much of that you say but when you say "The True face of reality lies beyond the human being's ability to adequately perceive." you are taking a position and holding it to be true. You're saying that the reality of it all is that we can never now reality. Kant held this position but was famously criticized for claiming to know something about what he claimed to be unknowable.

    • @doctorbenway4724
      @doctorbenway4724 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the reply. It's an honour to talk philosophy with a wise one such as yourself. I guess I could have worded my comment a little more carefully; for the sake of semantic weightiness!
      I was simply making a claim, more so based on my own understanding of reality, and the limits of human perception; than intending to claim indiusputable truths.
      This actually ties back into Godel's incompleteness theorem (not incommensurability theorem(this was my own misremembering of the name)), funnily enough. Incompleteness theorem essentially states that: in mathematics (or logical systems more generally) more truth exists within a logical system than is reachable through the means used to explain the system. This works like logical paradoxes in spoken/written language, with paradoxes such as Epimenides' liar paradox; 'I am lying' / 'Everything I say is a lie'.
      Language fails to grasp, or explain, all the truths that there are to be known, and sometimes efface itself. Just like - as I claim! - human perceptual faculty is limited, and thus removes us imperfect primates from knowing 'absolute truth'.
      Statements can actually be both true and false at the same time. Human perception is limited. We tune out a lot of information that is there to be tuned in, as it is not essential to our everyday comings and goings. Our faculties are tuned to navigate a particular habittat, and so: some data is discarded. (Huxley refered to the brain as 'the reducing valve of every day awareness.' Our brain works just as hard to filter out 'unhelpful' information (as pertains to normal functioning) than to process usable information. This is something that is not generally disputed. Therefore, I feel comfortable enough claiming that: we, as simple humans, cannot know the True face of reality; or 'the thing in itself'. Especially if we are using language to get to that truth (Nietzsche's work argues this brilliantly, especially the essay 'On Truth & Lies in a Nonmoral Sense').

    • @doctorbenway4724
      @doctorbenway4724 6 лет назад

      There are ways of understanding. Old school, Aristotelian logic is binary. I do not live in a world of binary logical systems. I have superseded that; or at least *try to* remember that I have! We live in the age of quantum physics, perspectivism, and phenomenology. Gone is the simple 'A is A, or A is not A' logic. Now, when we understand the laws of physics are built on the very effacing of the laws of physics (quantum mechanics), and we make judgements as creatures whose very being refutes the second law of thermodynamics (systems dissipate over time(life gains complexity, and evolves, over time; doing the very opposite ('non-equilibrium thermodynamics'))), we should be aware that language is a tool. Every concept an argument, and every word a metaphor; or series thereof. Here we come to find ourself in a very strange place where we find 'truth' is an argument, a tool, and potentially a very insidious one. We must then resign ourselves to the fate that language can be taken as an artform, to be used as poets would, to reach the most beautiful, meaningful metaphors imaginable. Or, to take the left-hand path: to claim 'truth', a consensus that everyone agrees upon, that is enforced by the mechanisms of culture-creation, and used to silence further discourse, and thus: higher thought, and expression of new ways of thinking.
      Pardon my waffling ramblings. It is early morning here in Ireland, and I have just had a pre-workout matcha tea. Poetic philosophical prose-stylings of a madman, perhaps...

  • @19moey86

    Love your AMAs! With respect, the argument atheism is problematic because all cultures had religion is a fallacy. Atheism does not equal nihilism. All religions discuss ethics yes, but humans are innately philosophers and ethicists. Religion is just the narrative that goes with that.

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  5 лет назад +7

      I suggest you read Euthyphro by Plato and then move to Nietzsche. If morality exist then there must be a God. If no God exist then there is no such thing a morality (Nietzsche). If you believe in morality, especially if you believe you have an innate sense of morality then you believe in God (whether you know it or not). This maybe seem like a strange connection but many highly respected philosophers agree to this such as Kant and C.S Lewis. C.S Lewis was a famous atheist who converted to Christianity and he also laid claim to this argument. This argument is a classic one that find its roots in Muslim Philosophy known as Kalaam.
      "the argument atheism is problematic because all cultures had religion is a fallacy" this is not a fallacy but either a true or false premise. Anthropologist claim that all civilization have religion. This is not a claim Im making but a claim made by Anthropology www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/12151083/God-was-vital-for-the-development-of-civilisation-as-we-know-it.html
      The above claim was not intended to prove God's existence but simply to illustrate that religion separated us from the animal kingdom. Religion breads civilization.
      "Atheism does not equal nihilism" I don't equate Atheism to nihilism at all, what Im saying is that atheism ultimately leads to nihilism. (I highly suggest you reflect one this)
      "humans are innately philosophers and ethicists" I agree with you here as many philosophers would. Where do you think we got this innate ability to be moral?? This is the point. Morality can only come from God. (Kant) Why don't animals have morality?? this is a serious question that philosophers ask. Humans seem to be born with this innate gift.
      I really appreciate your post and very much appreciate you listening to the podcast. Wish I had more time to explore this ideas in detail here but Im sure we will discuss it lots in future podcasts.

      Dividing by (x-y), obtain
      x + y = y.
      Since x = y, we see that

On the other hand you have the most PERFECT measurement system ever made, precise and easy to learn, I'm no math teacher and I can teach it to the dumbest person you know in 15 minutes max. I believe morals are intrinsic. And if you need an authority to tell you that you need to treat people a certain way other wise there will be negative consequences (hell) is that your actual character ? Sry if that came off attacky. I am in no way trying to insult your intelligence or anything I would just like your opinion on the matter

    Firas you're clearly very informed in your arena, sports science and physiology etc, but please do not comment on psychedelics as you clearly have not taken the time to educate yourself on the subject. There is not even a claim that they are bad for you body in the literature. That claim does not exist. Its unanimously agreed upon that they are incredible non-toxic substances and your body is very adept at processing them. The risks are psychological alone in nature. Thanks for your insights nevertheless.

      Leffe Ksson Lol, sure do pally. Here are some citations for you to pressure test against your basic ass 1990 opinion. “Hallucinogens generally possess relatively low physiological toxicity, and have not been shown to result in organ damage or neuropsychological deficits (Strassman, 1984; Gable, 1993, 2004; Halpern and Pope, 1999; Hasler, et al., 2004; Nichols, 2004; Halpern, et al., 2005).”
      LSD has been taken by about 25 million Americans at least once, and 1.5 million Americans in the past year, based on 2015 numbers.1 This 2008 paper noted that “there have been no documented human deaths from an LSD overdose.”
      “Since the early 1990s, approximately 2000 doses of psilocybin (ranging from low to high doses) have been safely administered to humans in the United States and Europe, in carefully controlled scientific settings, with no reports of any medical or psychiatric serious AEs, including no reported cases of prolonged psychosis or HPPD (Studerus et al., 2011).”7 Psilocybin is not the same as LSD, though we should expect an extremely similar dosage dependent safety profile.
      “This finding is consistent with a US population (2001-2004 data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health) based study that found no associations between lifetime use of any of the serotoninergic psychedelics (including psilocybin) and increased rates of mental illness (Krebs and Johansen, 2013).”
      “The incidence of risky behavior or enduring psychological distress is extremely low when psilocybin is given in laboratory studies to screened, prepared, and supported participants.”
      “There is no evidence of such potential neurotoxic effects with the prototypical classical hallucinogens (i.e. LSD, mescaline and psilocybin).”
      “Cohen (1960) reported that only a single case of a psychotic reaction lasting more than 48 hours occurred in 1200 experimental (non-patient) research participants (a rate of 0.8 per 1000). Notably, the individual was an identical twin of a schizophrenic patient and thus would have been excluded under the proposed guidelines.” The key methods to minimize this risk are the medical condition guidlines below.

    I would expect you to know psychedelics absolutely do not rot the body or brain nor do they cause addiction - certain ones like mushrooms have major benefits and many martial artists microdose with them daily for physical+mental performance and other effects. Do your research on this topic please, everything else I agree with.

    The problem with the meaning of life is that religious people answer with a very religious-centric understanding of life.
    And atheist answer with a verified version of opposition against Religious people. Serious people are doomed.
    But at the end of the day rational and religious people have limit to their progress.
    Few more questions.
    What prove do we have, we are real?
    What prove do we have, we aren’t a comic characters that exist in eternal book?
    This one is logic
    If a creator is the one who created creation.
    Creation is what created by a creator.
    Then creator wasn’t a creator before he created creation.

  • @davidaivasyan5912
    @davidaivasyan5912 5 лет назад

    The difference between philosophy’s and real „ rebirth“ Christians is that the philosophy’s are still searching the truth and not founding it, but the rebirth christian found it already and it is JESUS CHRIST.
    I don’t expect that someone will understand what I am writing, because you need first the Holy Spirit to understand the holy word of God, because the mortal human is not able to recognize the truth by himself.
    It is just possible with the help of God.
    Just keep searching and you will find the truth.
    Don’t stop asking and wondering about life.
