Eurovision 2024 has begun!
The Greek broadcaster ERT has just revealed their artist for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The announcement was made on the show "Studio 4" with Nancy Zampetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos.
Marina Satti (Μαρίνα Σάττι) has been internally selected to represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

They had already asked her to represent Greece in Eurovision like 3 more times but she said no because she wanted to finish her first full album. It is called YENNA and was released in 2022. It is a masterpiece in my opinion. You should check it out.

I'm Turkish and love her song called Κούπες. She has amazing voice in that one. You can hear all emotions there. It give me goose bumps also. Amaaaan, amaaaaan!
As a Greek the Turkish song which gives me goosebumps is ''Her Akşam Votka Rakı ve Şarap''. I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. She is not a talented singer by any mean, both her songs and video clips are disgraceful.

@@Hippocampus-dm8ku Maybe you have recently watched "TUCUTUM" which is indeed an awful piece of trash, but there is not just that out there. Is "tha spaso koupes" bad? She also contributed to the Zeibekiko ΙΙ with Dionisis Savopoulos. Her voice was very good. You confuse the genre of music, that you may not like, with the voice itself.
Fun fact. She's also the voice of Disney's Moana/Vaiana in the greek dub. You should react to her singing in these songs. That's when you will truly love her voice.

Just to clarify the middle east sound we all identify with the eadter countries is part greek origin. The music comes from the byzantinr scales and the hellenistic influences back when greeks ruled that part of the world. It incorporates many local eastern insteuments but adopts the byzantine (aka greek) music theory.
Greece was part of the east in terms of culture for many years, and its was considered an integral part (latins were the west, and byzantine greeks were conaidered and refered to easterners not only geographically but also culturally) Only the recent centuries with the rise of europe and the split between the christian and muslim worlds, greece ans greeks were associated with the western culture. Might be confusing but it is also unique as greece gave birth the western culture, but also was a very important part of the eastern culture.
Since first hearing Marina's music only 2 weeks ago, I'm 110% here for Greece in 2024. For me, the blend of the 808 electronics and traditional Greek instruments are simply incredible. Greece chose their artist well. I feel Eurovision has evolved over the past couple years with attracting more bold and risky performances that would never see the light of day at Melfest. I'm expecting big things from Greece (and im not talking about glitter cannons and smoke machines).

Marina Satti in a Noosh' video, i freakin love how surreal it all feels. Didn't have any doubt you were gonna love Mantissa, i recommend listen to Pali and Spirto ke Venzini, from her debut album ''Yenna'' that she released one year ago. And if you want to dig even further to her more crazy, unique or dark stuff, check out for Tucutum, Adii Dromi and Kritiko respectively.
This is actually filmed in the central market area in downtown Athens, one of the busiest places in the city. They must have been under tremendous time pressure since I'm guessing they started rolling around 05.30 after dawn and before shops opening

Hey Noosh! Thank you so much for this great reaction video and your kind words. Of what I saw 'Tucutum' is one of the most recommended songs for you to react to next time so I feel the need to give you some more info about that track as it could come across as weird out of context. First of all, it's the most controversial and divisive song of her catalogue, for some it is proof of how innovative and how much of a musical genius she is while for others it's just the worst song they've ever listened to (all of the most liked comments above the music video are highly ironic and judgemental). However, she has claimed that this song is her own take on the trap music industry that is very popular right now in Greece and the Balkans in general. It mixes elements from that scene but without the offensive, racist, sexist etc lyrics that the songs of this genre usually have and with many Balkan instrumental parts added. The music video portrays many stereotypes of the Greek and Balkan village societies. It definitely is not a song that's for everyone. If you decide to listen to it and don't like it you don't have a lot to worry about in my opinion. I don't think that she would go to Eurovision with anything similar as it's something quite different from what she usually does and she has already said that's she's gonna go with something that expresses her as an artist. If you decide to go to Malmö you should definitely try to interview her, she's so much fun, she had loads of humor and doesn't take herself too seriously. Love from Greece ❤

She uses music from Thrace region in this song. So the ethnic element is Greek/Balkan, not middle eastern. Well, music in the Eastern Mediterranean is very similar, but especially in this song the influence is from Thrace region.

In a recent interview Marina said that they didn't have permission from the municipality to shoot that video clip because it would be hard to close the roads in the center of Athens.
That day there was a protest in the center of athens so the police closed the roads and that was the opportunity she needed to make that video clip.
They did it in 1 shot because there was no time

I have a feeling Greece will send a quality girl bop like Israel in 2023 and Spain in 2022. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it replicated Israel's success this year by going from NQ to top five in the space of one year. This will be one to watch!
