Jessie Kleemann Performance artist and poet from Greenland. Interview with Daniel Chartier

On Monday November 11th, 2024, Greenlandic poet and performer Jessie Kleemann was the guest of Professor Daniel Chartier at the International Laboratory for Research on Images of the North, Winter and the Arctic at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Together, they conducted this interview about contemporary art from Greenland, the blending of traditional Inuit elements and current political values in her work, her multilingual poetry collection Arkhticós Dolorôs, the myth of Sedna, climate change, the creation of cultural institutions in Greenland, and Jessie Kleemann's decisive encounter with activist Saami artists.

Le lundi 11 novembre 2024, la poète et performeuse groenlandaise Jessie Kleemann était l’invitée du professeur Daniel Chartier au Laboratoire international de recherche sur l’imaginaire du Nord, de l’hiver et de l’Arctique à l’Université du Québec à Montréal. Ensemble, ils ont réalisé un entretien dans lequel il est question d’art contemporain du Groenland, du métissage de ses œuvres entre des éléments traditionnels inuits et des valeurs politiques actuelles, de son recueil de poésie plurilingue Arkhticós Dolorôs, du mythe de Sedna, de changements climatiques, de la creation d’institutions culturelles au Groenland, ainsi que de la rencontre déterminante de Jessie Kleemann avec des artistes militants sâmes.
