sameee I really like this song and i'd been listening to this for a long time and decided to search the title of the song on youtube, and I'm really glad I found this
Saw them twice. Braunsweig and Sydney. Just amazing. At the Braunsweig '80 concert the crowd would not leave after the hall lights came on. Everyone stamping their feet until they had to come back on again.
Hi Ian, you mean Braunschweig near Hannover in Germany? If so, can you remember the date? I can vaguely remember the concert and at that moment Paco inspired me to love flamenco music.
Saw this at the Hammersmith Odeon, sold out crowd sat in silence throughout until each individual part was finished the a standing ovation at the end, never to be repeated at the same venue.
I was at this magical show , a few years later they played again at Davies Symphony Hall in the City, Steve Morse opened for them (acoustic only) and then joined them for the finale' . In all my 60 years as a musician, those performances are the pinnacle of excellence and mastery .
Listening to this in '91 got me to start learning guitar. I saw Meola and John but never had the chance to see Paco. I always wake up realizing i was dreaming while listening to this. Unbelievable masters of the guitar😍
Exceptional! I wore out this cassette as a youth just getting into jazz, and was lucky enough to see Di Meola play in a small music store about 6 feet in front of me a few years after this came out.
I remember when I first heard this on LP and thinking it was speeded up, no-one could play that fast. Then I realised I had never heard anyone really play acoustic guitar before.
I was at that concert. It was the night after they recorded their legendary "Friday Night in San Francisco" album. It is my favorite concert of all the great concerts I've attended over the past fifty years. And I understand that material from that Saturday night concert is supposed to be released on a "Saturday Night in San Francisco" album one of these days.
I’m pretty sure they “collage” the tracks. If you pay attention, first minutes are the album’s ones, you even got the scream of someone in the audience, something in the middle. The “leftover” is from the night before.
Saludos.
Saw these guys at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, CT in 1983. Steve Morse of Dixie Dregs fame opened up - and he was the best part of the show. Sorry, but it's true.
Somewhere along the line, a couple versions of this piece got confused. This video is clearly just two of them - Paco and Al, without John. Here's a different performance with all three of them, with great camera work and mixing that really help us follow who's playing what: ruclips.net/video/kjpwtLdy8lw/видео.html
This video ends all discussions about Larry Coryell beeing better component than DiMeola in “the trio”. Paco is god, but Al was also sublime in this 11 min masterpiece
+Sofia Noiti During the concert, some songs were played by the three of them, some just by Di Meola and De Lucia, or McLaughlin and De Lucia, or McLaughlin and Di Meola
No it's the same. You can hear the exact same scream from the audience at 1:56 in the Friday Night CD Recording. *Edit: I must be wrong, but nice similarity with the cheering of the audience
Then maybe you should listen to Mexican music. In this case, we have an USA American guitarist, a Spanish one and an Italian one. Basically, a mix of varied Neo Roman Empire culture (Latin, not Latino, a bit like the difference between Catholic and protestant, English and American), with an ex British colony. There is no Mexico, Aztec, mestizo or South American culture here. The closest we get to that is the American dude.
45 yrs I remember LP I had got as a student...
Holy mother of God , this is probably on of the greatest guitar duet’s I ever listening to…….
This specific performance in particular might the greatest ever recorded. It’s mind blowing the way they interact with each other.
Remember thinking I wish I could see this on video
sameee
I really like this song and i'd been listening to this for a long time and decided to search the title of the song on youtube, and I'm really glad I found this
40 years later still unbelievable
This is the greatest live guitar duet ever recorded.
RIP Paco..!! Your music is Timeless
AMEN!!!
Indeed.
Saw them twice. Braunsweig and Sydney. Just amazing. At the Braunsweig '80 concert the crowd would not leave after the hall lights came on. Everyone stamping their feet until they had to come back on again.

Paco's solo is so joyful, in a way music is better in describing emotions then words
I feel privileged to have seen that first tour live in Paris shortly after the SF album came out. LEGENDARY!!!
And me front row in Nice, france
Extreme Zenith of the Music! RIP, Paco The Marstro!! 🙏

I had an eargasm.
Holy shit.
Exactly. 🔥
Mediterranean Sundance (Al Di Meola): 0:00 - 0:55 and Río Ancho (Paco De Lucía): 0:56 - 10:15
I love Al in 05:37 shaking the head like "Jesus,he really did this"??

I love when a guitarist plays the guitar and feels it doesn't have to look at chords

the only time Paco missed a note...and he even gave a little smile for that 03:55
does anyone know the tour dates of this brilliant trio in the 80th in Europe?
This video ends all discussions about Larry Coryell beeing better component than DiMeola in “the trio”. Paco is god, but Al was also sublime in this 11 min masterpiece
Coryell is a whole different kind of beast 👌🏼
To all the millennials, yep we grew up listening to
Réal music!
Where's John
👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️.
where is John McLaughlin??? This is a duo!!
Sofia Noiti He is there in spirit maybe? :P¨
+Sofia Noiti During the concert, some songs were played by the three of them, some just by Di Meola and De Lucia, or McLaughlin and De Lucia, or McLaughlin and Di Meola
This is not the version you can find in "Friday Night in San Francisco", different concert. This is from another concert in San Francisco
No it's the same. You can hear the exact same scream from the audience at 1:56 in the Friday Night CD Recording.
*Edit: I must be wrong, but nice similarity with the cheering of the audience
Its not the same. Very near, but...
Is it possible for mortals to play like this?
I love Mexican music! ❤
Then maybe you should listen to Mexican music. In this case, we have an USA American guitarist, a Spanish one and an Italian one. Mildly successful bait, 6/10
McLaughlin is not in this performance. Why is his name on the title of the video???
What planet....?!
WAOOOOOO
8:08 WTF!!!
If you just start playing the video there it sounds like a shreds video for about 3 seconds LOL
Are my eyes deceiving me? Since when was this video available? This is the original live recording of live in san fran??.?!
Is not sadly
Yes it is. Te version of the cd is mixed with the second day
John Mc Laughlin is missing on the video.
Holy FUCKINGshit.
The quality of the image in the whole of this video can only be described as tragical. Another historical opportunity lost forever.
John must’ve been in the bathroom
who is coming here after watching them in that other video?
🍀😃👍
¿ Mc Laughlin? ¿Where is Mc Laughlin?
Where was John McLaughlin hiding?
John's probably late again like so many of his other concerts.
who needs him, anyway. hell, even Al is pretty much optional, much as I love the guy.
too dangerous
John is not there... Al has a weak sound...bad visual captation...
Uñeta(pua) v/s dedos libre
This Is dissing between two guitars 😂😂
eddie van halen cant touch these guys
a Ferrari is faster than a VW bug. Horses have bigger cocks than us. Than you, at least. What Are we doing here, again?
Who's that?
Paco De Lucia is not from this World ...
