    If you are someone you know is getting the new Taco's ? Put it thru some serious stress testing as soon as you get it. Lots of hard breaking, gun it on the hwy, and put the 4 wheel drive thru everything you can through at it. If you plan on towing? Do it as soon as you get it. Don't wait. The new Tacos are having problems with differentials, transmissions, turbos, and software. In warranty its no problem to get fixed but out of warranty and you could be looking at many 10's of thousands of dollars depending on how greedy your local dealer is. But to be honest, anyone buying any new truck from any brand should do this as soon as they get that bad boy. They are all being made kind of shoddy now a days.

    You had to climb over the front seat just to open that plastic box that took the place of the small seats in the back and the reason for that, which you forgot to mention, Toyota did away with the rear access doors. Let’s see, if you had a heavy tool box back there how easy will it be to remove it? The truck looks great on the outside but inside not so much. That dashboard instrument panel looks cheap and the price for this truck is getting too high sure like everything else today but this is suppose to be their cheaper model. Again,Toyota made a big mistake doing away with the rear access doors of course to save money and at the same time raise the price. I’ll pass on this new Tacoma and I’ll just hold on to my old 1989 Toyota extended cab pickup. Let’s hope Toyota will bring the access doors back. Nissan was smart enough to keep the access doors on their Frontier King cab.

    Now how do I get my dog into the extra cab behind the front seat? Toyota really screwed up by not having the rear of the cab open up.
    Another thing; Toyota is touting that the new Tacoma gets 20mpg on the highway traveling at 65mph.
    Our 11 Ford Ranger XLT super cab 4WD with the 4.0L V6 and the 5spd automatic transmission with 3.55 gears and limited slip differential with the tow pkg get 23mpg with the cruise set on 75mph.
    Yes I added a K&N intake and a 3” FlowMaster exhaust.
    So why would I want to spend $35K - $50K, ($55-60K for the hybrid), when our almost 13 year old Ford Ranger gets Better fuel mileage?
    That’s like wiping before you poop. It makes no sense.

    Affordable for who? there's no Access to the Access cab. what a joke. It's a good looing truck, and i like the drivetrain, but i can tell you as a Etra-cab owner, the everyday concience of the rear doors takes away 75% of the practical untility of a extra cab truck. This is to bad. Base price should be 28k, and it needs rear door. It's DOA for me.

      @@glynns1 explain what the negative aspects of having extra access to the rear portion of your extra cab would be? The doors can't open without the front doors, so it can't be security. Can't be safety because they're just as safe if not more so what could it be?

    • @glynns1
      @glynns1 8 месяцев назад

      @@chrisfrank8413 I think besides cost which is always a thing it was said side impact protection is better without a door. I’m a standard cab type of person though, give me a bench and the little rear window please.
      I suppose keeping it behind a wall and being able to cover it is slightly less likely to be broken into. Though I do agree if the space is provided seems weird to not have a way to access it even on at least one side.

    Ahh so the TFL folks are wrong in the cheapest trim for 4x4--theirs was an SR 4x4 but double cab--which was 41-45k I believe. I rather have an xtracab bc I like my access cab now and it fits me first fine. No kids no extra passenger except my dogs.

    They would have been better off updating the 3.5 v6 making it like 290 hp and the 8 speed auto. Maybe the 2.4 turbo 228hp for the base engine still.
