Your idea worked great for me Buddy, I only had to adjust it one time, your way, and the rear of the hood laid down where it should be. Thanks for saving me time and frustration.
Omg thank you so much I have been looking everywhere online trying to figure out what I can do to get the back part of my hood even. Thank you so much.. U r a lifesaver! 👌
Thanks for this video. It helped me with my 74 Torino. I found it works best to loosen both bolts (loosen the front a little more then the back bolt) and lift open high on the hood. Have someone hold the hood completely open or prop it open if you are by yourself. This causes the front of the hinge to slide up on the hinge and the back of the hinge to slide down like you talked about. Then tighten accordingly. After this procedure my hood fits much better.
This is awesome. I have a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado. I've been ignoring my problem. The hood is riding high, cant wait to try your tips. your video has motivate me to pursue the repair.
so i've been at it.. nope, the front bolt hole isn't slotted ('74 Impala), the rear one is but whether I set it high or low it stays the same.. But I have a spare set which I'm gonna overhaul and make the slotted holes deeper - see what that does.
What year is your nova? Mine is 1972. May I see pictures of your front clip. I just want to see if looks the same as mine. People think that my front clip on my nova is crooked
Even all these years later. The passenger side of my hood was sitting high and this video helped a ton. Thanks for the help
Thxs champ,, that helped me out a lot,, I wish I saw this before I brought those hinges,,, there going back now

Thank you for this tip! This worked out well on my 1970 Chevelle. The hinges look identical.

no problem, hope you get it dialed in
Thanks for the help. I'll give it a shot on my Firebird. Fingers crossed.
thanks man, i've been struggling with this problem for a while, never tried to raise the front up :)
Yeah, I know it sounds kind of backwards but it does work. Were you able to get your hood to line up better?
I'll try this saturday or sunday. I've slotted the holes even further to drop them lower, might have been unnecessary. I'll let you know what happens

Thank you sir
Adjusting panels sucks. Good job man :)
so front bolt makes rear of hood go up and down?
Yes, I know that sounds weird but it does work on some cars.

Mine is a 70. I show it in several of my other videos. Maybe you can see the clip on there.
I tried what u said but my hinge has 3 bolts for hood and three to fender so a bit more complicated
interesting. it might still work in a similar way though. were you able to get it adjusted?
meridian208 yea got it close.
Couldn’t get my hood to go down on my nova. Turns out the hinge is bent
Actually that’s all the way down in the rear
