Hi Roger, I heard this song before it was released when I played in a support band (Frosted Glass) for LRB in Canberra at the Harmonie German Club. This song stood out for me for its funky feel and I still love it. André in Sydney

Hey Roger, Thank you so much for this video!
Very informative...love hearing musos talk about how tracks are written, recorded and engineered.
Played Curiosity Killed the Cat a few times on Yt after watching your video - then got that funky track little stuck in my head. In the end, I bought it on iTunes! Must play it three or four time a week at the mo...
Ric's lead guitar through the song is just awesome. Your bass is....... Noice! Love that R o l l
    And thanks Beeb...for writing it!!!
    Cheers

Roger, that was beautiful. Few things sounds as good as a jazz bass played with a pick. The classic jazz growl, especially on the open strings, is always a treat to listen to. I love it, and I loved your playing on all that early LRB stuff.

I consider it an absolute privilege that an original member of a supergroup, almost half a century on, would perform along with one of their iconic hits for our enjoyment, thanks to the magic of RUclips. It is, at the same time, instructive, entertaining but most of all, inclusive. I feel no different to how I'd imagine a close muso friend of Roger's would feel if he were to be invited into his home/studio for a jam! I think it's also a reflection of a genuine love for making and sharing music.

I remember reading somewhere that when this song was first released as a single, Glenn Wheatley drove around to all the Melbourne radio stations and personally delivered them a copy of the single. It might never have been a hit if that didn’t happen and a credit for the determination of Glenn Wheatley who managed the band.
    When are they doing a new updated version of this song? The new lyrics are below ;
“Coronavirus Killed The Cat (Beeb Birtles)
Sometimes I think I'm just a crazy cat
Running around, don't know where it's at
Getting confused with my way of life
That's when you say, now you cut that jive
    Right now, right now
You keep this flame I have alight in me
And with this cat, it's coronavirus
That keeps me hanging on night and day
Surprisingly, again I hear you say
Guess what, guess what, coronavirus killed the cat
I'm telling you I know where it's at
Covid is everywhere to be found
Open your eyes and look around
You, you, you, yeah, yeah, yeah
Some things you say take me by surprise
I like your style so give me your advice
Send me the truth and I'll always be
Singing your song with you in harmony
That's right, that's right, coronavirus killed the cat
I'm telling you I know where it's at
Love is everywhere to be found
Open your eyes and look around
    Coronavirus killed the cat
I'm telling you I know where it's at
Covid is everywhere to be found
Open your eyes and look around
You, you, you, yeah, yeah, yeah
Ah, ah, ah, ooh, ooh, ooh.’
