    OMG! You have a 427 AC Cobra in the Garage! But back to the Rover. My wife has the LR3, it has actually been a great truck and I am thinking about getting this one with the diesel. Nothing scared me, I have a Ram Cummins but I found that oil extraction port interesting. Is that the recommended method to remove the oil? Is there a drain plug under the truck? How are you liking it after about a year?

    • @cpstang24
      @cpstang24  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I do, hoping to finish it up and be on the road shortly with it. And I really like the LR3/4 but I have no complaints with the diesel as far as MPG or reliability at this point and time. The only issue I do have with it and seems to be a common complaint is the diesel fumes if you do not have the AC/Heat on Recirc. Sometimes coming to a stop at a light or certain scenarios with wind etc you just smell diesel fumes. Make sure you try to get a HSE LUX as those have rear AC vents in the ceiling and for 3rd row. Helps cool the truck down quicker. Mine does not and I wish I knew that back when I bought it. But I add DEF every 5-6500 miles, and just stay on oil changes. I tow with it and it tows great.
      As for the oil extraction. All the quick lube facilities do it that way, I am sure rhe dealer may if customer is waiting vs leaving the truck for other service I'm sure they would drop the under trays and drain it via the bolt at the pan. You can do it that way, but I had been using this on and off on vehicles for years and never really noticed any down side, plus I never get as dirty and gets done in half the time. Good luck on the search!

      @@cpstang24 Thanks so much for all the info. I think diesel fumes are just a thing and all diesels have them. I actually love the smell. I know no one else in my family does. Good luck on the Cobra, she looks awesome.

    With an extraction pump ( I have the 12volt electrical one ) it is so easy a ten year old could do it I now change my oil on my D4 every 3000 miles.

      Yes everyone pushes the Castrol brand i believe. I do not do the 10-15k mile intervals I change it every 3 to 5k.so I don't think I'll have much of an issue.

      You’ll be surprised how good rotella oil is. I’ve seen results from blackstone. I’ve used it on all of my Mercedes diesels over 100k miles with 7.5k mile increments.

      Yea, it should be Helix Ultra Professional AJ-L 5W-30 or the Castrol Edge C1 oil. These Ford diesel engines w/DEF are particular about the oil.

  • @CPsGarage

    Glad to see your not using the 5w dumbass (30) in it. 5w40 is actually better for it anyways. Ford recommends 5w40 in severe duty applications which most people fall into without even knowing it. The biggest difference we see in the f150 3.0 is fuel economy comes down just a little. Just to note the f150 3.0 is based on the same architecture as the JLR, just different block casting. Im starting to make a bunch of 3.0 content. Another not is the timing components are identical between the two and fird is 1/4 of the JLR parts.

    • @cpstang24
      @cpstang24  7 месяцев назад

      Very interesting because I just assumed ford took this from JLR and just called it a powerstroke and that was that. Because it got my mind going on a stand alone if you could use a ford ecu and harness to strip down to power this motor and trans or convert to the trans ford uses in the 3.0L f150 . Because I think it's a great engine for the size/power/tq and it gets good mileage for what it is.

    • @CPsGarage
      @CPsGarage 7 месяцев назад

      @@cpstang24 Ford actually casts and produces these engines for JLR and PSA. They been being made since the early 2000's. They started out as a 2.7 in the JLR and even Ford vehicles in Australia. Ford did do a lot of updating when they finally was like yeah we are gonna use this in our trucks.
      If you were gonna try to stand alone it the 18-20 would be the years to do it with. Big but the trans computer is a standalone computer on the f150 it's not part of the ECU and the ONLY available transmission is the biggest pile of shit 10R80
