The word of God mentions the request of Salome for the positions of power which is only required for earthly kingdoms,in the end she follows Jesus to the cross and both her son's were martyred for the faith.Thanks, Father for your reflection and your heartfelt prayers for all of us and for your mum and dad.God bless.
Wow! What awesome take away messages as I delved deeper into your today's teaching' Father Warner. Jesus has set the trend and exhorts us not to seek earthly glory of power and position to be first, but rather to be a servant and be last to attain eternal joy. Jesus listens to our heart's desires, but fulfills them in His time and in His own way. Let us in prayer take our heart's desires to Jesus for HIM to decide what is best for us. Thank you Fr.Warner for dedicating this Gospel passage to your Mum and to us mothers, and especially to mothers who have said YES to God and encouraged their sons and daughters to serve the Lord in His Vineyard. Prayers for you, and especially for your Mum and Dad, who said YES to God.

Thank you Fr. Warner for enlightening us. In the end, I can see that our Lord Jesus honored the faith of the mother of James and John. Indeed, all of them were given important part in the passion, death and resurrection of our savior. As well, James and John truly showed their fidelity to their promise "we can" as they served the Lord and propagated the Gospel throughout their lives.

May God grant us mother's the ability to raise Men of God on fire for his kingdom and when the enemy attacks us in this cause may we be able to hold our ground in faith. Dear Fr Warner thank you for clarifying this gospel for us & the reasons Mark's gospel differed from St Matthew. It was also interesting to learn that initially Salome was just an ambitious mother who wanted the best for her sons but later she had a transformation, following Jesus to Galilee with 2 others & taking care of his needs. Ultimately unlike her sons she understood what the real calling of Jesus meant. Your beautiful prayer touched our hearts. God bless you. 🙏 💕
Man being a social animal, is always obsessed with power and position. Just as our Lord came not to be served but to serve, so, we, too must in all humility and with true discipleship follow in the footsteps of our LORD. Jesus is seated to the right of his Father and mother Mary would be seated at Jesus ' right. That could be the reason why James & John has no position. Ref. 1 Kings 2:19.
