The moment I heard this I knew it was a pastiche referencing some specific UK synthpop tracks. Then I spent the next hour and a half trying to hunt down references for everything. Bass synth patch: Depeche Mode - People Are People Arpeggiation at 3:12: Tears for Fears - Mother's Talk Brass polysynth swells: The pitch rise tag suggests "US breakdance" to me, but I can't figure out what track it might be. There are many R&B artists that do similar things without the rise - Midnight Star, New Edition, Michael Jackson tracks all have that element.
