My daughter, Skylar Williams is going through rush at FSU right now. Thank you for your video. I learned so much about sororities, what they are about and what you have to go through to join one. Because of your video you have enriched my knowledge which has allowed to communicate about it together at a more meaningful level.
Also dont be surprised if you dont recieve a bid at all . Happens to tons of people at most schools . If you dont get a bid anywhere highly suggest open bidding and recruitment as a sophomore as well and sorority informal rush events in the spring .
When I was at FSU for an MPH I was concerned about potentially racist students from sororities. One sorority alumna was in my class who always wore shirts with Greek letters, events, etc. I am Apache Indian from rural AZ. Out west, the media often had stories about "racist southern sororities". So, at FSU I just assumed the sororities were racist. I wouldn't even acknowledge the sorority alumna's presence - a cold indifference with zero expectations. But it was a mistake. She was not racist at all and the nicest student in the class. I got to know her over time. I was surprised but relieved to know the reality does not necessarily match the "media perception" out west of southern sororities. Best wishes from an FSU Alumnus now back in AZ.
FSU is pretty open minded in that they accept people of all races into IFC fraternities/panhellenicsororities as long as you fit what the house is looking for
Congrats!!! Everyone also rember you may not like a house during recruitment but if you get a bid form them try it out because there's a huge chance you can fall in love with them once your there!
10:00 She's a champ for taking 1 on the chin like that .. but you'd think that she would at least wipe it off before she started filming, it got crusty over night. At least she's doing whatever it takes to win.. you can just tell that she knows that she's gonna be accepted from this moment on. She's exhausted from the extra meetings but those late night meetings are what it takes to get what you want.. She even got her some jewelry out of it, that's nice.
As a British person I have literally no idea what is happening but I find this really interesting
joining a sorority was one of the best things I did in college!💗
