What a Great Man! Sir Matt Busby was, what he did after his recovery from the Munich aircrash is something that will never be surpassed! He truly is the father of Manchester United! RIP Sir Matt Busby
Lot of respect for Sir Matt. He was an ex-LFC player, and it's great to have that little link in the rivalry. Funny, for quite some time, LFC and United were occassional opponents and not really bitter rivals as such. Wasn't really until the 70's and 80's things got really hot.
A wonderful posting that fits my life as a United supporter like a glove. I was born in Manchester in April 1948, and at the age of about 3 weeks was held aloft to see Johnny Carey's FA Cup winning team return home. Aged four I migrated with my parents to New Zealand, and as a 9 year-old mourned the victims of Munich, the first major world event I remember. In 1967 I saw the great Law-Charlton-Best team play in Auckland, and the European Cup triumph followed the next year. Then (eventually) came the great Fergie era, by which time I had moved to Australia. And of course the post-Fergie decade has been utterly depressing as the Glezers have presided over an era of mediocrity unbefitting the great club United is. Right now Eric Ten Hag has begun his reign, and there is hope quality football and on-field success might again become the priorities. Hopefully I shall live to see that.
Be great if someone like you could speak to the players! If they understand or care even care about who they play for they would give more. Football can't all be about tactics and systems there still needs to be heart and character
Don't fit you like a glove mate your just a armchair fan you ain't never played for Manchester United, only when you have can call it a glove dyer know what I mean
Sir Matt Busby when he retired, he had to wait another 26 years to see Manchester United win the EPL, Sir Matt Busby was one of the supporters of SAF to be retained as Manchester United coach...And SAF pays for that trust ... a year after Manchester United won the EPL, Sir Mat Busby died ..
Tragic losing that special team, Real Madrid definitely wouldn’t have won all those early European Cups had Munich not happened. As for Duncan Edwards, he would’ve won at least one Balon d’or and been captain at England 66’ RIP GGMU
Indeed. Always like your comments on here David. It’s a thrill for me that older reds like yourself get great enjoyment and memories through my channel.
That was very enjoyable, thanks. I watched that '68 Euro Final at a friend's house as we didn't have a telly. Although not a United supporter, I used to watch them occasionally as a kid when they were playing in London (I live in Sussex), because I enjoyed their playing style (I supported, and still support, a local team who played in the 6th or 7th tier in those days). I remember one game in particular when they drew 2-2 at Fulham and Best scored their first while lying on the ground and wrongfooting Macedo. The second was a rarity - a late equaliser from Nobby Stiles. Unfortunately, I have never found any footage from that game, as relatively few were televised in those days. Clark and Barrett scored Fulham's - this was before Clark went to Leeds and played for England at the 1970 World Cup.
Amazing footage, simple fascinating to watch and listen to how much the game and its commentary has changed, nostalgia is an emotion seconded only by love and its clear to see this documentary has an abundance of both!! Such a well made peice of work 💪 may the Munich disaster and the heroes lost in it never be forgotten ❤️
Munich hangs heavy on my heart as a United fan although born in 72 the loss of the lads as well as the other tragic victims(i actually found a newspaper under my friends floorboards in early 90s dated 7th Feb 1958 showing photo of the team(my greatest memorabilia)such a loss the whole country mourned I'm told+never doubted, big respect to Bayern also they always send their respects on the anniversary-well done Bayern-true class
1968 WAS for the Babes. It was for Matt, Bobby, and Foulkes, but it was also for the boys of 58, those who didn't make it home. May their legacy last forever.
After Munich, both Puskas and Gento of Real Madrid offered their services free to Manchester United. Two of the greatest players who ever lived were prepared to play for nothing. Could that happen now?

Matt Busby made Manchester United. Under him he managed three great teams over his 24 years as manager. The Post War Team which he largely inherited, The immortal Babes and the Holy Trinity of the swinging sixties.
One day I was at Old Trafford, crowd were buzzing for the game. Outside it was noisy and of course being young I was excited. Suddenly I saw the crowd separate and I was about two feet away from Sir Matt. Making eye contact, I just could not believe it. What did I do, nothing. Just kind of froze. I regret it, but understand also. Also to end any arguments of who was the greatest player for us. If Sir Bobby says Duncan Edwards, with all the players he has seen or played with. Then it is Duncan Edwards.

This should have millions of views! It’s a shame most United fans now only support them for the Glory that Sir Alex brought.
Not sure that is true. I think Manchester United would get the same support whatever. Attendances have not dropped since Fergie left.
