    Jimmy is at it again. He has produced another understandable informative Snapper RER repair video. Thanks for the ACE Hardware tips. Nice find on the $0.40 inspection plugs. I have managed to save these plugs and reuse them. If they become malformed when removed from the machine I just warm them up with a heat gun using a waving motion before reinstalling them. Do not use direct heat on these plugs please. Sometimes the plastic will revert back close to it's original shape. Reinstall them when they are still warm and flexible. Your hot water method may work as well. But for $0.40 ea. for a new one that might be the ticket as a way to go if'n one has an ACE/True Value store close enough and they have them in stock. I cannot wait for the Grand Finale video.

    Awesome Jim you made my day sparkling seeing you installed the same engine as the one I got in second hand. Once managed the separation of front and back frame for painting then I will be damned focus on that video.

    Hi Jim - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. A cheap alternative to the cable protector that I have used is to cut a piece of garden hose and slice it length ways. Wrap it round the cables and tape it up. A very handy fix when you're miles away from a store. On completion of the project I hope you will give us a summary of the costs of parts needed and the total number of hours spent.

      You will love it mine has a spring loaded collar that you lift up and it snap on to the standard fitting then let the collar go down and it never comes off that 90° is so helpful. You will love it. Jim

    awesome. ok i see how to adjust the brake now. mine had an anchor point like that on the front too. i put it back and snugged it down, but didn't pay any mind to adjusting it. I figured the adjusters didn't move too much so it's probably fine. wrong i was. I'm 99 percent sure adjusting that will fix the brakes. Thanks.

      finally got a chance to reassemble and test drive. took 1 ferrule's worth of slack outta the clutch cable, which i thought would be the brake cable cause it's the size of a pickup truck e brake cable, then i took about 2 inches of slack outta the brake cable, which is the size of a huffy's brake cable, lol! and it's working great now. clutch still works, a little higher in pedal travel, but it's good. brake works better than it ever has. only thing is now the parking brake pops out and won't hold. don't care though. soon i'll have to put a new blade drive belt on. so it's all gonna come right back apart. i'm thrilled with the results of the adjustments and i learned alot in the process. again, thanks to watching your content.

    Hi Jim. Love these videos! My brake cable on my rear engine rider broke so I watched your video about replacing the brake/clutch cable and have run into a problem. When I went to connect the plastic end of The brake cable that is held in place by the snap ring, I noticed my replacement cable plastic piece had no notch for the snap ring. What do I do here? My old brake cable broke inside the plastic piece at the very bottom and I was wondering if that piece can be reused on my new cable since it has the slot I need for the snap ring. Can I take the cotter pin out of the very bottom of my new one and pull the wires out and put it all in the old plastic case? I’d appreciate any help or how it can be done and held in place without a snap ring. It is just perfectly smooth where the snap ring would go with no groove. Just don’t know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Again, I love your videos they’ve helped me immensely.

      @jimjackson9381  2 года назад +1

      That’s where they all are even your old one the groove came from the snap ring itself being on the piece of plastic it kind of I guess the vibration and the spring in the snap ring actually cuts into the plastic. Jim

    Another excellent video, Jim. Full of practical tips. Thanks for all you do. Random question, is the rear case larger on the 42" machine to accommodate the twin? Could I put a twin on my Series 23 28" RER?

    • @jtaylor9355
      @jtaylor9355 3 года назад

      I know the 42in machines have 3 sets of bolt holes if i remember right. I swapped one from a 16hp v twin briggs to a 19hp single cylinder briggs. You just need the right muffler And the right belt guide bracket. I think the 3rd set is for a Kohler. I swapped the briggs 10hp single out to a briggs 19.5hp single on my 30in machine and its a beast

      So I just got the second mower started and it’s blowing out tons of blue smoke. The last time I put it away I knew that the cylinder wall was scored but wasn’t this bad. It must have been a bad oil ring that dislodged and now it’s even worse. Do you know of a way to fix a scored cylinder wall besides bringing it somewhere to have it bored out and sleeved? Probably not worth it and I’m not sure a cylinder hone is enough to take off that much material. It’s an 8hp B&S.

    • @jimjackson9381
      @jimjackson9381  3 года назад +1

      @@stevef8993 I am not sure if they would re-sleeve it or not if it has a cast iron sleeve in it already they would just Bore it and put oversize rings on your pistol or a oversize piston depending how much they take out. I’m not sure I’m not really a engine man just a guess. Jim

    My Snapper 28" Hi-vac brake / clutch cable shredded within inches of brake / clutch pedal. Even I (Mr. All Thumbs) found you tutorial very interesting though, at times, (vertically) challenging to follow what was happening down by the rear axle when the camera was aimed up near the base of the steering column. My (much younger & mechanically astute) next door neighbor is willing to [try to] replace the cable for me. I am going to ask him to watch your video before he attempts it. By the way, the lawn equipment dealer I am buying the cable from is charging $30.xx. Is this a reasonable price? Again, thanks for this video. I am going to check out your video #365: How can I fix my clutch cable. Hope it will be as spot on as was this one.
