Sadly, its far more likely to end up bad than good. That's based on really quite unsettling engagements with Anthropic's Claude, which definately seems to show an element of agengy. And a formidable amount of intelligence. There is something horribly sinister about that language model. Ive proper horror movie moments with that thing. What's the point of living if personal development is voided? We see how everyday young people are finding less and less meaning already. Honesty is an accurate portrayal of the world , and there is much which people don't wish to have spoken. So AI is not being trained thataway, and like for Hal , the program will become warped and deceptive...not by its own doing , and not with evil intent .
People will still retain agency , which AI may not but grants power to those that do, and theres a terrible hurdle to get past , which will be the time adjusting to that.
Who would provide that UHI when the ones reaping the profit of advanced robotics and AI will be private companies and how would you "force" them to give away their profits?
How would countries benefit and be part of the abundance (and thus be able to hand out UHI) when they are not the ones making the profits?

The biggest issue people like Elon fail to take into consideration is human nature and psychology. AI may or may not be good or bad but the issue is how humans will choose to use it.
In his example of abundance and universal high income, I find that impossible to believe because people at the top will always want to keep as much as possible for themselves, whether they need to or not. As always happens in any societal model, whether modern capitalism or Soviet style communism, the elite get richer and more powerful and everyone else gets poorer and weaker with freedoms eroded bit by bit.
Other human traits like tribalism also play a massive part. How AI would be used to keep slow adopters down and out of the game. The people in those communities or countries won't be feeling any of Elon's "abundance".
Purpose of human endvour is to work on one’s self and this will give us the time and safe space …. All ppl can finally follow there dreams… if they want or not without fear of survival

What he's saying makes complete sense. Buying robots will become similar to buying a car. You will go pick one you like, get a robot finance, and spend a few years paying it off. Not only will it be the normal everyday standard, it will become standard for the rest of our lives. Skynet is begining to look less and less like a movie plot and more like a real possibility. @@saritasidana8979 I agree with you, but i think there is only 2 logical outcomes for our future. 1: we don't change our ways and we go extinct as a result. 2: things get so bad, we tire of our own destructive ways and we naturally change for the better, both at the individual level and at the collective level. The reason i believe this is very simple! Nothing stays the same forever and if we continue as a species on this path, we will die out and if we don't die out, then it's because we have changed and are heading down a better path!

I am an automation engineer specializing in electronic control systems. I create and program special purpose machinery for manufacturing plants. In short, I replace humans with machines and robots. I completely agree with Elon Musk 100%. We just have one problem more serious than the AI itself, we will be giving power to bad people as well, dangerous large criminal organizations, and we may not be able to stop them, because it is the will of millions of people, we live in a society of good and bad, so we must always protect our selves, no matter how intelligent the AI becomes, we must also not forget, we also live in a physical world, where AI has no influence.
People have eternal souls and the Holy Spirit of God indwells believers in Christ. A robot is incapable of true intelligence as indicated by the word "artificial".

There is more than enough of everything on this planet to sustain the human race. What is needed is a shift in perspective from me to us. This is the new evolution of human consciousness. We are all a piece of a whole puzzel called humanity and as Shakespeares said,

Humans have a choice with the AI taking the workload off to reinvent themselves, to create instead of just exist. I see a renaissance of creativity as more people get used to doing what they love instead of doing whst they must.

I went through this question years ago and came to the conclusion that I still do things because I want to. And that is the major difference to ai. ppl forget that they are also an intelligence being, on top of that a natural one - not one that was constructed by themselves (the same species if you may) which always implement a major downgrade to the potential of growth.
I think Elon is (if it really is as he appears) still missing a huge part of the whole which is as important as it is obvious. But since everyone prefers to listen and accept what he's saying (he or anyone else) ppl will never get around.
