I love that irregular minor scale breakdown you did at 12:00. I remember Mariah’s interview discussing how she wasn’t technically trained as a singer and how she said that some of her songs might not have been written the way that they had been, had she known all the “rules” and technicalities of it all, she just wrote and sang whatever sounded nice to her ears.. ❤
I'm so happy you enjoyed it!!! I've performed some of her songs before and things like the chord progressions or transitions are often a little "weird" meaning they don't abide by traditional rules that we're taught. Goes to show that a willingness to look beyond those practices, or the fact that she wasn't aware of them and therefor didn't even worry about doing it in a way that "makes sense," - can sometimes make for the best creations!
Oh Santa was released by MC on her 2nd Xmas album so like 2010 2011 ish. Then remixed and added AG and JH during her 2019 or 2020 xmas special and now finally they performed it live dec, 2023.
