Thank you for the video. I've never run a 10 speed before, and my next job I will be. I was just looking to find the shifting pattern and rpms to see what's different, and I found this video. Maybe add a second shot of the rpm as you drive? To see it all at once would help as well. I'm a visual learner, so the more I see happening at once, the quicker and easier I learn. And many others as well I should add. I'm not thinking of just me, just explaining my situation.
I was just like you in trucking school 10 years ago nervous as hell . I have never shift a manual car prior going to trucking school. 10 years later, I still don't know how to shift a manual car and a 10 speed transmission is what I mastered 😂
Drove a 10 speed without the pattern anywhere. Was told it was an 8 speed. So, I thought what was 2nd gear really was 1st. This is a problem when I though I was going from 4th to 5th, but was actually trying to go from 5th to 7th. Was having a hard time until someone else told me it was a 10 speed😅 It was a world of difference, butter smooth after that!
I use Clutch just in first gear. Soon I will publish a video how to shift a 13 speed transmission. That video is going to be more detailed. I’ll show how to shift with Clutch and without with it. How to shift uphill and downhill what to do if you lost a gear, so hit that notification bell so you don’t miss it is going to be a good one.

I wanted to drive high and low gear trucks but didnt know the gear operating system. Thought of just driving and get to know. But your tutorial has made me realize the importance of the rpm in gear changing from high to low.. Another thing like to know is what if im on 10th gear and suddenly arrive around a mishap on the road secons away, then which gear i need to engage to be fully in control, that is if i dont come down gear after gear. Or can i jump gears from high 10 to which gear would be best that i can go back to low. Just like normal 5 gear drive, you can go from 5th to 3rd . What should be done? Oh i forgot to THANK YOU. Hi! If you are in high range gears 7-10 and you flip the range selector down while you are in the gear nothing is going to happen. You will be able to place it just in neutral position and then you will hear some noise from your transmission. To get rid off noise and shift into the next gear(up or down) you will need to select high range.
Downshift is fairly easily. Let the needle drop down to 1000 rpm. Rev up the and quickly shift the next gear back . Drop the needle down to 700 rpm and you can for shift down skip a gear . For example let's say you are in 8th gear. You can skip a gear and shift to 6th gear

This is hard af, why would they even make these vehicles, automatic is so much easier. I need to learn to drive a 10 speed to get my job I been dreaming of, they surprised that they only have manual trucks
Hi!
Automatic is great but manual almost never breaks that’s the reason many companies choose manual.
@@iTruckiTrailer when I was in trucking school they said most companies are going automatic, so I listened and now the job I been wanting to do, hazmat tanker driver 90% of fleets are manual so I have to learn to drive one and than have to go retake the entire test, meaning will need to get a permit again and start from scratch, it’s really frustrating because every time I tried to drive a manual I just can’t seem to get the car rolling without the car shaking like it’s having a seizure
Manuals cause nerve and upper joint issues on OTR drivers. It's one reason fleets are going all automatic. I like manuals, but not OTR. Also gas mileage goes up.
All depends what do you need for the job.
Automatic is the easiest and most convenient.
@@iTruckiTrailer Gas mileage goes up for the fleet. And what if your arm or shoulder gets a cramp or injured ? That happens a lot in the fleet.
What happens if we shift the range switch to the low range while gear is in high range gear.. imagine like it is in 7th gear.
Hi! If you are in high range gears 7-10 and you flip the range selector down while you are in the gear nothing is going to happen. You will be able to place it just in neutral position and then you will hear some noise from your transmission. To get rid off noise and shift into the next gear(up or down) you will need to select high range.

Clutch or no clutch ?

Can you please make a video on explaining downshifting more and how to roll?😭
I can but it will take time
Downshift is fairly easily. Let the needle drop down to 1000 rpm. Rev up the and quickly shift the next gear back . Drop the needle down to 700 rpm and you can for shift down skip a gear . For example let's say you are in 8th gear. You can skip a gear and shift to 6th gear
@@chucknorris2266 So in this case we rev up to 700+400= 11 rom to downshift to 6th??
