    It's always a pleasure to listen to your POTA activations. Indeed, your content on RUclips is an excellent way to learn Morse code (CW). I've learned a lot from you, including going off-frequency when chasing Parks on the Air (POTA) activations. It's also impressive to see how minimal a setup can be to achieve long-distance communication.
    I've been following your channel for about two years, perhaps longer. My Morse code proficiency has improved significantly; I can now copy at 20 to 21 words per minute with ease. (For POTA) Rag chew 18 WPM..
    Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos. I know it's not easy, juggling work, family, and everything else. I'm glad you manage to find a few hours each week to assist those of us learning or, in my case, relearning CW.
    Looking forward to catching you on the bands!

      Thank you for the kind words Tom! I appreciate you always following along and the chats we’ve had over comments and email. It’s a great hobby! 73

    Hi Aaron. Another fun video. Tnx. It looks like you went back to the stock Alex Loop Backpack. Me too :) I tried the same 5:11 Tactical Pack that you tried in one of your videos. At first I thought it would work but I have found the one that comes with the Alex Loop (even though it's not very robust and I am not a fan of the orange trim) is still a better fit for the system. If I ever find a replacement backpack that works better I'll let you know. 73

      You’re right, I did. I still have the 511 one and it’s a good pack, but it takes longer to load/unload than the one that comes with it. I’m gonna keep using the one that came with it until the zippers give out hah. If I find another interesting one I’ll let you know too. 73

      @ I think the right replacement pack would be one with an open center like the one that comes with it and a back laptop pocket to put the loop in. If I can find a pack like that I’ll take it to a sail maker or canvas shop and have them stitch two Velcro straps in the center just like the original. The problem so far as been trying to match the unique shape of the original. If I find anything that works I’ll be sure to let you know. 73, W7CPP

    That’s a nice compact setup and a nice looking park. I really don’t need anymore radios but I should look into the 705. I mostly use my KX3 and it does great. I notice that you are keying dots on the right side of the paddle and dashes on the left side - that’s different for a right-handed keyer. 73 and see you out there…

      The KX3 is a great rig too! I love my 705 though. Every now and then you just find a radio that you “connect” with. You’re right, I key in reverse. I gotta be weird somehow! 😂 I didn’t have anyone help me learn CW and it’s the way that felt natural. Now a few years later I know better but just stick with it hah. 73 my friend! See you on the air

      This morning propagation wasn’t the best on 30m this morning but I was trying to run away from the CWT contesters 😂 I’m trying to convince myself to run non-QRP more often. Thanks for watching & catch you down the log! 73

    Thanks for the video Aaron. Warmer weather! More CW!
    The video quality and color in this video is fantastic. What did you use?

      Thank you! It’s a GoPro Hero 10. I’ve been experimenting with the settings and think I like this one. Shot at 24 FPS & 4K. Rendered down to 1080 after editing. 73!

    Have you tried to use it on a balcony?

    • @w4arb
      @w4arb  5 дней назад

      I have, it works good as a balcony antenna. The rule of thumb is it should ideally have about 3’ of clearance on all sides, and it’s good to go. But it’s not the end of the world if you can’t get that. I’ve also seen folks clamp it horizontally to a balcony rail, I suppose that would work well too. 73!
