Vanity redeemed herself when she connected with the higher power God. She saw demons and Satan and it scared her and she wanted out. The drugs use is because her mum and dad were addicts and she inherited it. She was able to quit drugs and became an Evangelist and helped many people on her journey.
I always liked Vanity, I think Prince loved her in his own selfish way and was definitely obsessed with her. I'm glad she gave her life to Christ.
I think he had a superficial view of love because it wasn’t really shown in his home growing up especially with his own mother who he felt abandoned by early on in his childhood she didn’t really teach him much of anything love only sex with pornography and playboy at like ten years old and it really altered his view of what women were supposed to be like and they should be respected eventually he felt god’s love was able to feel whole and complete 🙏
I totally agree. He was unable to truly trust women and saw them as objects to play with and manipulate like a doll. Both of his marriages failed because he was kind of bipolar with them. Prince wanted his women to look a very specific way instead of who they were which is strange.He felt they were only after his money and not him. I also think he was trans or maybe bisexual and did not come to terms with that.
@@aavalestormiconicperformer I don’t believe he was bi or trans but I think he picked up a lot of characteristics from his father his father try to control everything about his relationship with his mother How she dressed and how she acted and his mom didn’t really like that because she was a free spirited woman just like vanity but I feel like if he was bi or trans He wouldn’t be the person to hide it he didn’t care what anybody thought this was a guy who wore heels and make up He was just a straight man who was androgynous Very in tune with a Masculine and feminine Sides of himself And expressed it through fashion but I think he looked at woman in a superficial way because his mother was more so hyper sexual and he didn’t feel loved by her growing up But I think it would’ve been much different if she actually sat down with him and told him about Love and sex that sex comes from people who truly love each other as opposed to learning through playboy and pornographic literature but his own parents relationship he’s described as a competition between them But he was also exposed to sex in an early age so that can also play a part I feel like Nona Gaye, Vanity, Jill Jones all truly loved him for him and not his money but he couldn’t trust women because his mother broke his trust in a very big way that affected him for many years

@@briannaburch6737 The reason why I think he was Bi was when he was on Oprah and confessed that he has a woman inside of him and he named her Camille. It makes sense why he sang in a falsetto and wore women's clothes he had that other personality inside of him that was a woman. That's why I thought he might be trans or bi.
Denise is the kind of woman with a special, lovable vulnerable aura , and she looks like an angel. This woman was mythical, deep thinking person and u can see that in her pictures, in her life, her choices that she made. I felt like hypnotized by the look of vanity since the first time I saw her.
I was mesmerized by her when I was a teenager. I still think she was just the most beautiful creature ever put on earth. A blessing and a curse. I'm not sure what year she was far gone to drugs but there were moments in her interviews where I thought she just had the purest, sweetest spirit. And the most lovely speaking voice. I don;t think she inherited drug use though. I think her childhood scarred her and the circles in which she traveled as a celebrity, the times of the 80's, made it easily available and she became addicted for no different reason than anyone else does. Drug use was there to fill a void, just has her religion did in her later years. I'm glad she is home and with the GOd she loved so much.
She did say she inherited it from her parents (the drugs) she still reached the top despite her history.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I honestly believe Prince realized only after Vanity died that he truly did love her. Her death hurt him a lot. And being that Vanity died on an anniversary of Prince's beloved mother's death, it made Vanity's death even harder on him. Especially when he knew how much Vanity loved him even up until the day she died. He knew he treated her wrong by wanting to control every aspect of her life, while not being able to give her a full committed relationship that she was longing to have with him.
Side note: I believe a lot of people prior to Vanity meeting Prince took advantage of her because of her beauty. From Rick James to Prince to Hollywood to even the Christian sect that she belonged to. I included the Christian sect because they would advertise her as "Prince's ex-girlfriend Vanity" to try and bring as much people to their sermons. But when she needed help with paying off medical and legal bills, the sect did not help, but profited from her when she did her sermons and a lot from her personal belongings after she died. Prince never came to help her, either. I've always believed because she was so flawlessly beautiful, it came with a hefty price of pain.

I thought Prince did help her out some medical expenses at one time or two? I also thought I heard he paid for her funeral expenses too but that may have been a rumor.
I was surprised when he offered her only $5000 for the staring role in Purple Rain...WTH?! That’s him trying to control her with not paying her for what she’s truly worth.

The movie was low budget to begin with. There wasn't enough money to pay her what she wanted. Plus, it wasn't like she was a sought after actress either.
I believe her illness was a result of many years of drug abuse. She literally almost died which is what prompted her to give her life to God. At that point she only lived for him. The demons that was in her life in the beginning never left but God cleansed her and God cleansed Prince. But due to their choices early in life, they still had a price to pay. But knowing God has forgiven your soul is all that matters.

The Vanity 6 album cover was my ideal way to look as a kid in the 80s. She played a key role in what defined "glamour". Slightly dirty, slightly dangerous. I never thought she was actually into the occult as deep as she was. That's a shocker.
Prince NEVER got over her.Check out his frustration in the songs "i hate u" and "i hate you(the extended version).He spoke of her subliminally in pop life referring to her coke addiction.And i could swear he
reffered to her as his "fix " in Adore.(a drug term used to describe being addicted to something or someone).But check this out....the powers that be warned Prince when Vanity died on the same day as his mom...that they were after him and that his time was closing in.I believe they both signed the contract and when you are young...it feels like you will be that way forever.But iam 45 and iam old enough to tell you....that 25 years goes by in the blink of an eye.

Like others I loved her especially in "the last dragon". I remember her on soul train, but I was a child and ignorant to spiritual things.
I'm soooo glad she gave her life to Christ she touched me even once again as her true self Denise in Christ and I have no doubts she's at peace.
In her book she spoke about her childhood and her deep religious beliefs , I find it hard to believe that she would get involved in devil-worshipping , I do believe in evil spirits entering your life by opening yourself up to drug addiction and getting involved in spiritual practices that you don't understand.
When you watch the movie Memories of murder, Vanity looks the spitting image of Prince when she was walking with the little girl wearing glasses with a short bob!

I watched them several times & have shared them with my friends. I would LOVE to hear more about Denise Mathew’s & the former Vanity. 🥰🥰🥰🥰So please continue on & let me know anything else about her & Prince. Glad you pointed out the Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis production. What a lot of people don’t know is that the Control album was supposed be Vanity’s album. We’ll never know which songs went to Janet and which songs never got used but most went on the control album.
I heard that too! I heard Vanity's next album was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. She was even working with Paula Abdul who did the choreography on her undress song in Action Jackson.

She was doing the curly hair and the dance moves were so Paula Abdulish. Even the song Undress was very different than what she had done before. There is a heavy bass in the song and more drum beats than she ever did prior to that song. Her album was going to be more mainstream.
I like Denise actually. But, I don't like when people assume, because Prince & her both died in the same year, 2 months apart, they were eternal lovers. I mean, it doesn't really click for me at all. Considering, Denise had health issues that affected her in the long run, because she o'd in the 90s, and suddenly P passed along with her. And in all reasoning, P’s death is really sketchy.
And, I understand how Prince did treat her. But what some fans of him need to realize that, P didn't have his mother around so much. And him having much women around to basically ‘comfort’ him. But Denise & Prince had their own problems anyway. I leave it in the past, because we can't do anything about it now.
And I wouldn't say, Prince was obsessed with her. He still had mutual love for her, that's for sure. But in all, in 84, Denise didn't even ACTUALLY leave him. They were f*cking on & off until 1989. She even had a lovesexy jacket, when she visited him. And, the song he did for her like, The Beautiful Ones, and the tribute following was all out of respect. Even though, Denise always let people know she was very grateful that P was in her life. People get WAY TOO involved in their relationship and blame P for almost everything IMO. Prince married Mayte on Valentine's day. That marriage didn't work out. Prince and Mayte's son died. This is an awesome interpretation of what really happened. Thank you for this. Prince and Vanity were definitely connected on a spiritual level.

Prince’s Estate owes her estate some millions. Vanity was never paid or compensated for co-writing the movie, Purple Rain, which was originally titled, ‘Dreams.’ She deserved more. She deserved better. I miss them, both. 💔
I mean after what happened, Purple Rain was re-written but not by Prince. And he said it in his 1985 MTV interview. She did deserve more, but, all the others cast members were paid low as well. Not just Denise.

The third album was going to be with Geffen records she did not resign with Motown … supposedly it was nowhere near finished and only nature boy was recorded but I don’t believe that. But supposedly her sister has told someone this.
Vanity is usually ppl who think they are beautiful and sometimes it means they are beautiful so they become vain. SO I think he was just saying she was so beautiful she might get Vain. OR be Vanity. Incarnate. Prince was always in love with beauty. I think he was very insecure. HE wanted beautiful women but could not handle rejection from them so he got rid of them first. Sad. Too bad he did not have some help with that. Sometimes insecurity looks like arrogance. IT is really a con job. From lack of trust.IT seems his folks did not give him a lot of reason to trust. I wish someone would make another PRINCE movie. A good one. HE was so entertaining to watch I am not sure anyone else will not look boring trying to play him.
Vanity was a spirit that Denise let into her to become that image of vain. She fought against it later in her career because she said she was being attacked by demons. I believe her. She was part of a satanic cult and she even said she did witch craft. The drugs was only a distraction but the witch craft was what really got Denise almost killed.
Prince had demons too and overcame them but eventually the devil came to collect.
I would think the years of cocaine use would effect her , causing besides her renal failure also delusional/hallucinatory thoughts. This most likely is the reason for occult/telepathic/ tendencies. I'm curious if she ever went to a Concurrent Disorders program to treat her drug use/mental illness then just religion. During interviews you can see her fixation on God almost like an addict to drugs . I believe if she had of received the proper help she could taken her rehabilitation in a more healthy manner. Thanks for your comment(s) She did admit to going to rehab and tried to kick the habit and returned to the drugs again then got really ill and promised to God if she was given the chance to live she would turn her life around and become an Evangelist. She seemed extreme and replaced the drugs with religion. I think that is the only entity that kept her from going back to drugs.
@@aavalestormiconicperformer - I agree , it's quite possible manic/depression ? If she was prescribed medication may not of been compliant . Just a thought. You see she was very loving ,kind and compassionate lady. With her illness I thought I read she would not accept help from former friends in the entertainment industry ,but rather set up a Fund trust to raise money for her medical bills. Also curious what her financial state was when she joined the church and did she hand over much of her assets to them. I almost sense she had given up the struggle and accepted her fate. Very tragic story , the more you read ,see interviews you see how really fragile she said she became independent young and just seemed to looking for someone to love her for who she was , not her image as Vanity. I think she had financial problems at the end of her life as well. That may have been why she refused surgeries. I think her talk of demons and spirits was just a sign of her mental illness. Too good for the world and the world broke her. She really seemed the sweetest person. In every interview people would try to get her to talk bad about PRince or his ladies, and she never once did. She never gossiped or spoke a bad word about a soul.
Very interesting GOOD LOOKING INTO THE STRANGE DEATH TIMES & dates … they said before he died a few weeks prior the donated HUGE somes of monies to different children organizations so I think he knew he was Very sick ..but yes possibly someone was involved idk 🤷♀️ weird
