people actually get this wrong all the time, but the vampire that turned a spawn dying doesn't make them a true vampire it ONLY frees them from servitude, the only way a spawn can become a vampire lord is consuming the blood of their maker
Yea i didnt know what he was talking abt with giving spawns massive buffs just cuz their maker died

I believe you're incorrect. The monster manual states that if you kill a vampire, its subordinate vampire spawn gain free-will. it doesn't state that they become true vampires, just spawn with free will.
People don't often know this, but if you have a succubus drain the life from you, that is actually in love with you (which is a rare occurrence), instead of outright dying it can turn you into a true vampire lord. I use that for my character. He's a librarian who discovers he has Vishtani roots, inherits a noble title and a long lost relatives manor and "servant". Who turns out to be a succubus with her own agenda. He becomes a warlock, locked in a power struggle with her, they both succumb to the other in ways, and it eventually turns him into a full vampire. Putting them on more or less wqual ground by the end.
As someone who plays a dhampir like 90% of time (I blame you Castlevania), I can confirm how fun it is to play as one. 😂

Ideas: dhampir fighter dip 1 unarmed combat style. 2 and up go ranger swarm sub class with bats for the swarm. Take blind fighting fighting style for ranger style. A true vampiric knight. I had one...he was amazing. 😮
Second idea: dhampir monk to 4 lvl going kensi and use a rapier. Take 2 lvs moon druid. Change in dire wolf.....if you continue druid you even go bat and mist form ( air elemental) i played him as a noble background and quite the snob. The hand to hand attacks were like the vampire crushing blow. He was bad ass...oh and he hated when his clothing got destroyed by attack...."do you any idea how much this shirt costs!!!!!"

Well, are the day/night cycles still somewhat similar?
grappling with suns is a str (athletics) test vs str (athletics) or dex (acrobatics), once grappled the suns speed is zero, however the vampires take 20 radiant damage per round.
@@samuelbroad11 not to mention that the suns on Archavios, like the archaics are multi-armed so they could realistically grapple six vampires at a time

When I was the DnD master for my friends back in late high school and early college, I took a lot of notes from World of Darkness Kindreds and WarHammer Fantasy Vampire Counts, during the final boss battle so to speak the cleric forgot to roll, a strong enough faith points and the Vampire Duke, pulled a Vlad von Carstein x Sabbat Diablerie move, so when they rescued the villagers he would later possess one of the people they fed on resurrect himself with a thrall sacrifice,

Example is a human variant vampire battle master fighter 11 and 9 master mind rouge. Have fun with with this vampire design to manipulate the party and out maneuver them

Wait are you sure every vampire spawn becomes true vampire if lead vampire dies, that sounds like a huge oversight and it maked no sense, maybe they just get free will
I am very sure now that what I said about the spawn is incorrect. I misinterpreted what the lore behind them was. If a true vampire dies their spawn just become free willed, not true vampires. That was a big misconception on my part
@@smilesschemes Thanks for responding and clarification, and also do you know why vampires arent resistant to poison and immune to necrotic? Usually undead are immune to necrotic becouse it heals them while holy damages them
An important thing to remember is that the lore says that vampire spawn has to draw blood from a true vampire to become one. It never says that they have to get it from the vampire that created them. If their creator dies and they become free-willed, all they have to do is get blood from a different true vampire to become one themselves.
I honestly hate the D&D Vampires and tend to use a Whitewolf style system for them.

From my understanding, if ya cremate them or do LITERALLY ANYTHING OTHER THAN BURYING you don't get vampires.

So, in my playthrough I presuaded Astarion (vampire spawn) to not ascend and he killed his master Cazador. So now Astarion is now free. However from playing the game I was under the impression he is still a spawn. But your video states that if you kill a True Vampire, all their Spawn would then be True Vampires. That wasnt the case in Baldurs Gate 3. Am I missing something here? Please explain.
Looking over their lore, it's said that the spawn becomes a true vampire if they drink the blood of their creator, and that they become "free" if the true vampire that created them dies. I originally thought this meant that they become their own true vampire afterwards, but your question does raise additional points. Upon closer inspection, it does look like a vampire spawn only becomes freed and not a true vampire if their creator is slain
