The rivalry between Williams and Sharapova was like the ancient rivalry between lions and Christians.
I don't do fashion but it was always exciting to see what these 2 were going to wear onto the court. Everyone at and wta all wear the same thing.
What I notice about is that their fanbase are extremely respectful to each other, I mean, always acknowledge about other's idol achievement

We all admit Serena is incredibly talented and is one of the all time greats along with Steffi, Martina and Chris, but Sharapova gets a lot of disrespect from tennis fans before and after she was banned in 2016. Some also use her lopsided head to head deficit against Serena as an excuse to disrespect her. I find it so unfortunate. Serena was a horrible match up for her, but outside Serena she has impressive records against most of the great players she faced. She might have a losing record against some, but its very close. Also the drugs she was banned for only became illegal after 2015, therefore it's possible most players were using it as well, therefore it doesn't diminish anything she achieved before 2016. In my opinion, she's the 4th greatest player of the 2000s behind Serena, Venus and Justine. I will also rank her higher than almost every top player of the 90s apart from Steffi Graf and Monica Seles. She was not the most talented, but she had a lot of talent and mental toughness. Contrary to what most people say, she wasn't a brainless ball basher. You can't beat Serena and Justine Henin in slam finals by just hitting hard. Her level in the 2008 Australia open tournament is one of the highest level any woman has ever played. Let's learn to appreciate some of these players. They made tennis very interesting and drew a lot of interest to the sport.
I think a lot of that disrespect is a response to Maria’s attitude. I’ve read her autobiography, and the way she speaks about Serena and other players (like Henin) is straight up disrespectful. She really plays the part of the villain well.
@sherrynv6671 I haven't read the book, but I read some few excerpts, but the truth is people showed her disrespect even before the book was published. They claim she's a brainless ball basher and doesn't have talent.
Serena got disrespected since the beginning of her career. She became the best to ever play the game
@black_nebula Am not disputing that fact, but it doesn't make Sharapova's disrespect right. And also Sharapova doesn't have Serena's talent therefore she doesn't have the luxury of becoming one of the all time greats.

Kill me everybody , I’m Simona Halep and Ana Ivanovic fan but Fock me , I miss Maria and Serena on tour especially against each other I’m definitely proud that i was born in 90 and was very lucky to see players like Williams , Graff , Davenport, Seles ,Capriati , Hingis , Henin , Cljisters, Mauresmo , Pierce , Dokic , etc , and ofcourse the beginning 00 with Sharapova , Ivanovic , Hantuchova when she’s on , wow beautiful memories 😍😍😍😍

I never understood what Maria was upset about in the Brisbane match. Had they not called her shot out, Serena would have had a lob winner anyway.
Maria stopped. Its hard to determine how high it was on tv so maybe she could have reached it. If not it was definitely a winner because of the depth. She also didn’t watch the ball land and could have easily thought Serena had hit it long and the point got taken from her because of the call.
