What I noticed on Kim Jung Gi's drawings was that he drew his first chosen figure in perspective and from that moment on he related everything else off of that set up, basically boxing in while he boxed in, having all his box ins relating to each other ad hoc. You're suggestion that he's creating differing groups holds up, yet all of these differing groups inter-relate with the initial starting point boxed in image, this is the mixing of pre perspective approaches before the Renaissance and the ones that followed thanks to Alberti and others. Quite effective.
This is an incredible breakdown of some of the processes Kim goes through but from memory. Getting that kind of grasp of perspective is such a huge task, but videos like yours help make it a tangible thing. Great job ^^ !
I've never seen the concept of bending the horizon line before. Ive seen it tilted before but not bending. It's very interesting to me thanks for showing it.
Yeah eventually you can do anything with that horizon, the only thing is that you have to keep following that rule throughout the whole drawing (and that is the hard part). Happy to read your reaction :)
Thank u where have i been .. this is what I'm looking for !!! Really love your Content about analyzing kim jung gi , i have understand the basic perspective but i can't push it more than a book and theory , i wanna go wild and beyond not become a slave of theory and always end up with boring static perspective .. till i realize learning perspective is not enough .. i have to learn and understand spatial proportion in space , type of lense and a bit of cinematography , composition , staging to compose scene that tell story and contexts ... Appreciate a lot your hard work for analyze Kim Jung Gi work , thanks a lot !! Always looking forward for your content !!
I’ve rewatched this a few times and only then do I finally understand the breakdown lol, now it’s making much more sense🤣 wished I should’ve studied perspective first when I first started drawing more seriously. Thanks soo much for this!!
Wow this video was extremely helpful and easy to understand, even for a perspective amateur like me! Thanks a lot, your channel is super underrated considering the quality of this video! Edit: Just looked through your videos, loving the content you make. Just gained a new subscriber! Good luck with your channel! :)
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. Any recommendations on visualizing the spherical vanishing point (in a similar fashion to engineers)? Also, would you consider doing a video on perspective in Islamic architecture (or something similarly complex? Thanks for creating!
Respekt für die hohe Geschwindigkeit in der Darstellung. Aber 7:23 bis 8:32 sollte der Rasterabstand zum Rand im enger werden ! Sonst ist der Effekt von der Tiefe weg.
@@thedrDraw haha, it’s not you, it’s very common that people mispronounce his name due to how he spelled his name. Young-Ji is also a legit Korean name but a common female name. Haha Great contents, really appreciate your insight!
Exactly, the video is awesome , just to imagine to build the visual library in the same time following these perspective guidance, it will take years to master. But would start from practicing boxes for sure

Man... your explanation is out of the league..
Haha thank you! love it
Complicated :D , but from what i saw/heard he was creating with his first stroke the eyelevel/line and then build around.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Merci beaucoup
Holy mind fuck! You simplified the area I was having such a hard time understanding....thanks
Good to hea
Just a small correction. His first name is pronounced as J, not Y in Jung, and K, not G in Gi. So it should be /ˈdʒuhŋ ki/.
Thanks! Yeah I can sound a bit Dinglish from time to time lol
