Yeah but makes sense. Seasons 1-4 she was unmarried and young. By season 12, she’s a widowed mother of 3 who has lost way too many people. It’d be completely unrealistic for her to be the same person.

mer went through a bomb threat, a drowning, cutting christina out of her wedding dress, a shooting + almost losing derek the first time during said shooting, a plane crash + lexie dying, mark dying, george dying, doc dying, ellis dying, all the shit with thatcher and christina leaving. all of that was was in under 4 seasons aka "years" in the GA universe; So yes her character dynamic has changed but her trauma is overwhelming bearing to not be.

My mom was the biggest sucker for Grey's Anatomy that you would ever see on this planet. She absolutely adored the show. I guess you could call her a diehard fan for it too. I vividly remember as a kid, I'd wake up in the middle of the night to hear noise outside, and when I'd groggily leave my room, I would be met with my mother putting chips in a bowl while binge watching her favourite episode of Grey's Anatomy. I would leisurely walk up to her, and plop myself onto the cushions of our couch, with my head resting on her lap. And while she brushed through my hair with her fingers, she would recite the lines that Meredith said on the TV. This was the kind of stuff that would put me to sleep when I was younger. My mom was strongly inspired by Meredith, too. Whenever I would have problems, she would quote her and use her words to teach me something. The same went with my older sister. Meanwhile, my dad, always reminded me of McDreamy. Funny thing is, my mom actually made my dad grow out his hair, saying 'You'd look like Derek!'. And true to her words, he did look like Derek Shepherd. Many years later, I'm here, tearing up at the thought of my now deceased mother. Looking back on these videos and seeing all these iconic Meredith quotes really remind me of my mom so much. My mom practically tried to be the woman that Meredith was, and it's almost heartbreaking to know when I watch these clips. And you know, if I'm being honest, my mom *did* become the woman that Meredith was, or hell, even better. As a mother, as a woman, and as a doctor.

My mom was the biggest sucker for Grey's Anatomy that you would ever see on this planet. She absolutely adored the show. I guess you could call her a diehard fan for it too.
I vividly remember as a kid, I'd wake up in the middle of the night to hear noise outside, and when I'd groggily leave my room, I would be met with my mother putting chips in a bowl while binge watching her favourite episode of Grey's Anatomy. I would leisurely walk up to her, and plop myself onto the cushions of our couch, with my head resting on her lap. And while she brushed through my hair with her fingers, she would recite the lines that Meredith said on the TV. This was the kind of stuff that would put me to sleep when I was younger.
My mom was strongly inspired by Meredith, too. Whenever I would have problems, she would quote her and use her words to teach me something. The same went with my older sister. Meanwhile, my dad, always reminded me of McDreamy. Funny thing is, my mom actually made my dad grow out his hair, saying 'You'd look like Derek!'. And true to her words, he did look like Derek Shepherd.
Many years later, I'm here, tearing up at the thought of my now deceased mother. Looking back on these videos and seeing all these iconic Meredith quotes really remind me of my mom so much. My mom practically tried to be the woman that Meredith was, and it's almost heartbreaking to know when I watch these clips.
And you know, if I'm being honest, my mom *did* become the woman that Meredith was, or hell, even better. As a mother, as a woman, and as a doctor.
