Can’t forget Tom Brady being drafted by the Expos in 1995. Just imagine, a 2006 Nationals Opening Day lineup with Ryan Zimmerman at third and Brady catching
If you’re gonna talk about Macho Man, you have to mention that he started out as a catcher, injured his throwing hand and just started throwing left handed from then on and still played another professional season or two throwing with his non dominant arm. Absolutely wild
Another thing about John Elway is that he was in a high school state championship game. The opposing team had Strawberry and another future MLBer ( Kal Daniels? ).
I’m really surprised, on the track of Mahomes and Wilson, you didn’t bring up the big one (besides MC Hammer): Tom Brady. Brady also played both baseball and football in college, and was trained as a catcher, but was always leaning football due to him being a fan of the 49ers dynasty. Momentum of him making great plays in football started getting circulated, but Brady himself did not know this, and he was drafted in the 18th round of the 1995 draft by the Expos. Their GM at the time, Kevin Malone, projected Brady (due to some raw slugging power) to be an All-Star at worst and “one of the greatest catchers ever” at best. By that point, though, Brady found out about the high interest in him playing football, and the rest is history. There’s at least a video of Brady, early in his football career, teeing off balls at Fenway Park for a promotional event, showing what might have been (strangely enough, he’s actually a left-handed batter). And Fun Fact: by the time he retired, he was the last remaining active professional athlete to have ever been drafted by the Expos.
As a Broncos fan, I'm surprised that you missed John Elway, who leveraged his status as a Yankees minor leaguer to get the Colts to trade him to Denver, because baseball was a viable option for him if they didn't.
I know. If you look up his stats, he absolutely raked in the Yankees minor league system. Steinbrenner desperately wanted him as his center fielder of the future.
Charlie Sheen actually played baseball through high school and had a baseball scholarship lined up at Kansas before it was revoked due to to some criminal shenanigans by the teenage Charlie.
There's a lot of overlap between fighters and baseball players. My theory is because throwing a punch and throwing a baseball are somewhat similar mechanically.

They just announced they are trading for Todd Helton from the Rockies. I'm jk. Imagine that.
I imagine this alot.
Battered bastards of baseball is a great doc for those interested in Kurt Russell’s family connection to the game

This guy's not that well known in the mainstream, but Blackie Lawless, the lead singer of W.A.S.P. was almost a pro baseball player too
I played Little League so I was almost a pro baseball player
I play wiffle ball I am almost pro
I scratch my balls a lot, does that count for something?

I've chewed Big League Chew and hit a double in baseball camp.

Jameis Winston & Danny Ainge
Randy MARIO Poffo

I would have loved to see Russell Wilson play for the O's.
50 cent threw out that first pitch
Like a Lil bish. Not MLB material.
you can definitely do a part 2 to this
Too bad Hammer went broke a long time ago. He'd be a great option to sweep in and buy the As. He still loves baseball.
There should absolutely be a pt.2
Kyler Murray could still end up playing baseball lol
You left out morgan wallen, brett young (2 guys who played highschool or college baseball) and a bunch of others
I live in Cincinnati, and the one Reds jersey I wear to games…..Poffo, number 46. And a surprising amount of people get the joke/reference.
He does look like HAMMERIN HANK
I thought hank was HAMMER

He really was a Wild Thing.
Jon Bernthal played semi-pro ball, and baseball film advisor Bill Rowe said the best actor athlete he's worked with is Christian Kane.
Stipe Miocic isn't bad either, there's a video online of him taking BP at Progressive Field.
Russell Wilson would be a Yankee fan
Waldo Cortez Acosta was in the reds farm system as a pitcher. Now a heavyweight ufc fighter.
There's a lot of overlap between fighters and baseball players. My theory is because throwing a punch and throwing a baseball are somewhat similar mechanically.
Country singer Brett Young was in the Dodgers organization
