Thanks for posting this video. I'm currently working on M62b46 rebuild and the odd thing is all my intake valve seats show pitting, but the exhaust valves looked great! The engine has 180k on it and is currently town down for a refresh. I can't figure out what would cause this and was expecting to find the opposite situation. What are your thoughts?
Common to find pitting on seats or valves on any application. If the pitting is light you can lap it out or gently cut either side to correct. Corrosion is common in the harsh environment inside an engine.
I totally understand that, but I had expected the exhaust seats to look worse than the intake seats. Turned out to be the opposite in my case. I'm trying to figure out the cause

@@YourBuddyKeithif I had to guess I’d say a high ethanol fuel blend in the area it was run, possibly a high humidity environment as well
Interesting... California does allow for 10% ethanol in fuel. Thanks for your thoughts!
Any info on polishing the camshafts? Any scoring or damage to camshaft journals in cylinder head or camshafts?
