Nice a new feature .. THE MARIAH AND SALLY SHOW .. monthtly advice!!! Was fun to see this ... you should do a segment both talking Slovene ( with English subtitles )
Oooh, good idea!
Mariah, tvoj smeh je nalezljiv.😊
I did notice when I was in Europe that men wore pants that fit and it looked so awesome! :-)
"Slovenian men are more tailored. THEIR PANTS FIT THEM!" OMG I FREAKIN' LOVE IT SO MUCH! YOU GO GIRL!
Slovenian, Italian and Irish accents are my favorite.
I hate organized, huge dates. So stressful it seems like. I've been on three dates. I jokingly say I went to little Italy with my ex fiance but we actually went to a pizza parlor that was called Little Italy. The other was to the park and then one was to a sit down restaurant about 45 minutes from my house. I hardly consider that one a date cause we double dated with my parents and it was basically a date to try and salvage our crumbling relationship.
And as you can see by my long post I really don't like small talk. I would rather have long talks about life, music, hobbies etc.
The thing with the whole generations of slovenes living in the same house or near and being more connected to the place they were born or their ancestors were living in, as opposed to americans moving somewhere else quickly is that america and americans as people are very 'young'. Imagine an average american who may have ancestors living there for maybe 5 generations and then a slovene who may live in a house that is 2 times older than that, not to mention that a lot of people have ancestors living in pretty much the same place for hundreds of years (especially outside of cities). That's what i think at least.
You two are so much fun to watch :) It's surprising how your dialect is different from each other.
ooo I love you two together ... more more more
Naria Panthar hello
How come Sally doesn't have date experience, she is pretty attractive, interesting.
Yay for the Irish, getting a mention on your vlog!! My Slovenian husband now has an Irish accent from living here for 10 years. When he goes home people think he is Irish too!!
The best!!!
And we are close to our mum's and family.
Sarah Šeremet hello
Sally marry me :)
Yes the Mariah and Sally show! I would watch this every time I go to your channel and that's actually every second of my day... :)
you should start a fansite :D
Partyy Zavadiell Well I kind of did, I wrote a Wikipedia for Mariah.
But Wikipedia isn't like a fansite sooo...
Why do you assume Slovenian men are not stylish? Maybe not on the Italian level but compared to here in Germany Slovenians look like they put in a lot more effort.
I haven't been on many dates but when going on the first date, I'd usually ask the girl out for coffee or ice cream if its summer. Then food, bowling, pool, etc. for the next few. These things let you get to know the person better. I think way too many people are together just for the sake of being together or other factors like financial stability.
Couldn't agree more. People are just plain beeing scared to be alone. To first and foremost known and respect yourself. Especially here. The balkan syndrom. Good car, lots of money, nice suit and you already got a 5 woman attached to yourself.
I agree with that last statement, unfortunately. I personally know a girl who is with a guy just because she doesn't want to be alone. He's terrible to her (and she also caught him cheating), but when her friends told her to break up with him, her response was "I don't want to go through the hassle of finding someone new, but I don't want to be alone." That's such a terrible mentality to have! I'd rather be single my entire life than settle for someone I don't even like or is a terrible person.
Anja D. They are both lost cases then...that' not healthy at all..neither for them..neither for the people around them with whom they are in relationship...just horrible
Tadej Šticl Točno tako, ja. Mislim, da ni presenetljivo, da s to osebo že dolgo nisem več v stiku.
Plenty of people also base their relationship on the fact that they jumped in the sheets super quickly. And it's not a good basis for a lasting relationship.
Why am I enjoying this debate so much?
I agree with Mariah, even as students we don't like to be in debt, that's why most people live at home till they are financially stable debt free.
I thought it would be interesting to give my 2 cents about American guys (as Slovenian). I lived in Vancouver, BC for a year and pretty much every guy that i went on a date with was super polite, nice, but it was interesting only when having small talk. I find them very superficial, but also a bit braggy..when you'd pass that small talk stage, they would start talking about what kind of car or flat they have. super boring. you said we Europeans are more cultured, and I can definitely confirm that (of course there are exceptions). Love your videos btw!
The first thing about Luka that I found amazing was his ability to have long, meaningful, mature conversations.
If your hanging at with Americans who own flats and real expansive cars then your hanging out with the top 3% richest who will of course be stuck up rich people meet someone with a minimum job before you label us all superficial.
Ok, I have to brag. My boyfriend is Irish. 💚 And about us being surprised that we're nice is because we're very nice to strangers but nasty to each other.
The worldview comment is definitely something I noticed during my 4 months in the States. If you take into consideration that majority of Americans don't even own passports (source: State Dept.) it kind of makes sense. The USA is such a huge country, it definitely imprints on you and affects your mentality.
I'm portuguese, currently living in Slovenia during my gap year, and I just wanted to comment on the dating subject :)
Growing up and seeing in movies and series the whole american dating scenario it always seemed very odd to me. It just seems to me, at least in Portugal, that the concept is actually a bit different in the early stages. From what I've realized you'll go on a date and if you keep going on dates, you're dating?
To me this is very weird... I'd say that usually the whole getting to know each other is very casual (I think even the concept of a date is imported from the american movies) and then people just end up liking each other and then they start dating. Does this make sense? :p
I don't know, that's just how I feel like things are, kind of, but I might be wrong :)
In America dating is like some sort of a scheduled ritual. They even have rules like s€x on the third date etc.
Sally is a very attractive woman. ❤️
Hehe, Sally, nice to see you here :) Best regards from an old friend! :) Hello to all the guys from Campus Crusade for Christ Slovenia :)
To analyze people from other cultures we need to ask the following questions : 1- Is the person doing this because is part of the national culture? 2- Is the person doing this because is part of the local (regional) culture? 3- Is the person doing this because of his income and educational level in this country? 4- Is the person doing this because of their personality and has nothing to do with the country they are from? 5- Is the person doing this because of the kind of encounter we had (when I go to Europe for work I am treated differently) ? 6- Is the person doing this because of my looks or ethnicity? Let me give you an example. I've talked to hundreds of students that went to Europe on a study abroad program. I've seen girls to the same country and the same university. The nice looking girls reported that the guys were nice and the not so good looking reported that many guys were not so nice. So... What American women think about European men depends on what kind of experience they had.
Hehe, this was funny. I've been in Ljuibljana 3 times, the last time for 5 mos. My daughter lives there, for 12 years, and married a Slovene in 2000..she met him in the States. In fact he is A LOT like Luka. Spent a lot of time in US, in So Cal...haha. Same accent, mannerisms and even voice and looks !! ItS UNCANNY. Luka is different to me, than most men in Slovenia. He's a good mix of cultures. :)
I really noticed that Slavic men can be more masculine and be interested in more feminine women. More elegant. More cultured....intelligent.
American men are like little boys compared to the masculine Eastern or Central European man. American men are way too feminine as the women in US are very tough and masculine. US, to me, is a disaster for any feminine woman wanting a committed relationship. Americans embarrass me when I am abroad, I never say I am from US. Although I noticed that Slovenes love Americans, especially the younger ones. I def fell in love with Slovenia and its beautiful people!
I'm guessing this will sound weird, since it's a touchy topic, but from a European perspective I can't help but find the ongoing practice of circumcision in the US really odd. Great videos, a new subscriber here!
Yeah, it's totally cultural. Because otherwise, it just makes no sense.
Glad I'm not the only one thinking that. I do find it weird that Americans circumcise their baby boys 'just in case' they have problems. I've heard it all started as a way of doctors getting more money, don't know if that's true.
I’m American and I wouldn’t do that to my son.
Often Italian men, Irish men, Russian men in general are quite attractive.
As far as open-mindedness is concerned, I would say that most Spaniards are not so, especially in Southern Spain. Those men seem open and friendly but they are often extremely provincial. And i'm talking about men in big cities. In reality, I have found that sometimes, men in small towns are actually more open to learning about others....Interesting.......
You'll find men here who will take you out to dinner in a more formal setting.
when you started talking about touchy subject the first thing I thought of was the circumcision :D
Vpraša mali osel velika osla. Očka, zakaj si poročen, jaz pa ne? Sineee.. Poročijo se lahko le veliki osli..
I had it copied so i might just as well share it for laughs :D
Hey! You should watch some videos by Michael Manske: Kako postat slovenec/how to become a slovene ..it's really funny and also true :D
I'm sorry, but you can't generalize Europeans at all. Every country is different.
NZ ZN Don't tell me to calm down as if you know me, it's condescending. And pointing something out doesn't make me pissed.
NZ ZN And that's the whole point. You're not gonna find a common denominator for every European country. Not even for most.
i agree. americans are americans bt europe is so fuckign diverseits weird
I'm from Slovenie. I love your videos. Translate Slovenian- obožujem tvoje videoposnetke .
How come Sally lives in Slovenia?
Love you 😂❤️ even tho there is no big differences
Honestly I'm still "young" I guess but all these things are REALLY accurate :o
An average american: finishes a college with debt, finds a job and apartment, pays rent every month (that's money down the drain), starts to payof the college debt, gets a car with another debt, gets merried, buys a hous with another 30+ year debt and so on.. basically, whatever they do, they end up in debt.
11:37 If somebody wants to be creative I would suggest going to zoo if there is one close to you. There is very small number of people who regularly go to zoo, date in zoo will be something to be remembered. Also there is very small number of people who really dislike animals. Majority of people must have at least few of them they like or adore. You can walk, you can sit on some bench, watch and comment animals, other people... Conversation will never get boring. You can buy some snacks, ice cream... Perfect relaxed setting where people came to have some good time and nothing else.
Coffee can be good 1st date too especially here in Europe where we have lots of coffee shops with tables outside. Nice garden with nice view, people passing by... Restaurants are not my style. Too restraining and too much expectations for 1st date.
Hello Sally, very nice smile!
Hola, que tal?,
como van?, Los mejores y más cordiales Saludos desde puente piedra, lima, Perú, ojalá que puedas venir en algún momento a mi país y que disfrutes mucho de todo por aquí, con la familia y los amigos;
felicidades por tus vídeos..
Sally merry me!...brb learning irish accent :)
Haha!
Actually, we are a very variable nation such as mentality, food, dialects, nature, sociality even if we are a small country with the same ethnicity. Some are conservative others are extremely sociable. I've been in San Antonio and Austin Texas and I can say that is not such a variety dispute of a huge road nonetheless peoples are very kind and polite there. The food is similar in here rather then there was the more Spanish influence of it. Conclusion - We are all living on the same planet, which makes us different from one of each other is co-ordinates, religion, the system of government, language and ethnicity. No matter what it's inside you what matters. Be good and thumbs up.
As a Slovenian living in USA for 56 years have to say seen life on both side of Atlantic your desription of men you got so right even my American wife when in our travels through Europe
Couldn’t believe how beautiful friendly and English knowledgeable were the Dutch people
As far as a Slovenian man I have been buying all men’s clothing in Slovenia
So the difference between Us and European man is European are dressed better while Us are sloppier but generally much cleaner
New Jersey
Sally is so cute, omg omg, I will stop watching videos with her because I will get a heart attack. All that beauty at one place is just too much for me, she is soooo beautiful it hurts.
You felt in love I think 💭
Don`t get me started with tall, dark, handsome man with an irish accent....oooooh boy :) It`s winter and i am getting hot :) I spend in Ireland only about a week and i just fell in love with it. I miss Irish (men) so much :)
Hahaha :)
Lol I'm an American woman but my european lover is a very handsome belgian ginger who is 90s grunge/metal fashion and even he is well dressed when he works. Yum! Lol he's gorgeous! I think dutch is gorgeous and I'd melt lmmfao! And the thing i love about him is he likes me no matter how i look. I've dated some American guys and they just used me and creeped me out. I was raised european. If my lover is close to his mother. I'm very excepting of that.
Awww such a cute story! Happy for you two ☺️
This hair style + hair color makes you a lot older. Take it as a good advice :-)
Attaching to the mother have mostly italian man.
haha, i think we the Slovenian Men are the best...:-)
Nice vlog.
Girls, you can compare how EU/USA young people hang out with friends, or party. Have you ever been to a true Slovenian "veselica"? I would love to see your comment on that subject
That's a great idea! I have been to a few of them and I love it!
"Scandinavian countries, like the Netherlands for example" uhhm, ok :)
I agree with everything. And just one more thing. I watched House hunters a lot! In 95% there were Americans moving into Europe or middle America, or somewhere tropic, east. Anyway. And I was surprised, how easy parents or children leave their home and move into another country. Not like you, that you have boyfriend and go there. No, they have nothing in that new country, and they leave everything behind, familiy and old friends. I don't understand that. And of course their meaning of "big". There were always nice kitchens, and all Americans said: "Oh, it is too small." (well, maybe because they cook together, we usually don't). And all they wanted was a granit there (why? I mean,...). And also for bedrooms. They would put their children into some small rooms (and for God sake, they can't be together in one room!), but they would want to have a big bedrooms for themselves. Why? I mean, you just sleep in there, but Kids need a space to play. And of course, two bathrooms. More rooms, more cleaning and less contact between people I say.
Thanks beauties ❤️
Please come over in large number you ll be welcomed with open arms 😊
hi Mariah I would like to ask by which status is Sally allowed in Slovenia that long (6 years). Because I read that foreign people that what to stay in slovenia, let say temporary, have to have a reason that country can allow them to stay. I would really appreciate for your answer because I have boyfriend that is from Canada and I would like him to stay in slovenia.
The Dutch are the tallest nation in the world, no wonder women find Dutch men attractive. To most women, taller men are automatically more attractive. To be attractive, a woman must be beautiful and a man must be tall.
yet most desired men in europe, are spanish and italians. those guys arent tall, even dutch girls go to these countries to get with these guys
Mariah you are soo sweet..I love your videos..I would write in Slovene but I think Its better for you. I am sorry If I write something wrong. I have a question.. How old are you? You just look like a sweet woman in her twenties(I probably wrote this wrong I dont know how)I live in Maribor..Obožujem te hodim v šesti razred..
Thank you!
LIANA FEKONJA hello
I see your friend as a typical american..( the way she express herself and talk) i hope that does not sound weird. I would take a woman to a movie, then i can maybe chat about the move.. specially if it was an interesting one.. for example i really enjoyed Interstellar. Then i could talk with her about science for example... or whatever... but yea, i prefer a walk , or a drink.. for a first time... I enjoy watching your videos.. you are cute and look very modest, thats the quality i like in women. Thank you.
I think that if you saw a movie that was one that left you with a lot of things for thought that would be great.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Post Updates on Sally i want to see the weddings Photos
Has Sally tried the local 'delicacies' or has she been single for 6 years😀? #SallyNeedsaHusband
What I’ve noticed and what I know is that Europeans try a bit more harder and personality is alright and Americans are more real and don’t give a fuck and personality is much bett r
interesting topics! p.s. still single
Can u do a video where u are listenig to slovine songs?
...and video where you are watching grass grow? ... maybe? No?
"Like", "like", "like", "you know".
Ok. As a date I would first invite a woman out for coffee, just to talk to her and see if we match at all, if there was a second date It would progress to dinner, then maybe a concert, to find out what our common ground is. But to be honest I haven't dated a lot, just had a few good friends, that happened to be girls, and we happened to sometimes share a pleasureful night, day or morning together aka were friends with benefits.
Now I know, I'm a very midwest dresser:)
Lol.
We should meet up haha
Tho about the style... I guess that's true in Ljubljana but if you look at guys where there's like a lot of farms..nope...they dress like they live in their bed lmao
if you work at home yes beacuse you dont care how you look youre working but if you plan to go somewhere you always dress casual or nicely Slovenia is all about appearance you always have to appear rich even thoe everyone is poor.
Maggie gyllynhal on the right haha
Hey, nice videos :-) How many times do you have to whiten teeth to have that bright? As you know whitening is not that popular in Slovenia as in USA (not yet). I appreciate your answer.
I've never whitened my teeth. I think the camera makes it look like that because they are not so white in real life.
Interesting. Thank you for replying and I hope it is not too hard to live in this country :-) Have you visited Maribor? I like it more than Ljubljana.
I'm afro American born and raised in London and to be honest no offence but in general Europeans are a lot more attractive!! I don't know why or how but they just have better faces
At 4:59 there is the right answer :)
Is there a good online site where American women can meet European men?
I can say, a lot of european contries are different.
The thing I found hilarious when spending a few months in USA was that men, when they were dressed nicely, wore those oversized pants and shirts with some ugly patterned ties. Lol! And young guys with their socks pulled all the way up, haha. On the other hand-at least at the university where i've been at-I found people to be attractive in general.
I've never understood the socks. Never.
And also some ppl in slovenia have browner skin
Sally merry me 😁😜😜
marry*
Nah he just wants to be merry :D
People in Croatia find Slovenian language very funny.
A lot of them slovenian confuse with italian although slovene is as croatian slavic language and italians not
