- Join me while I crank a 1x1 rib and tube with waste yarn. This video is narrated with simplified instructions. So it is a demonstration or a how to video.
I also show how I like to do my e-wrap cast on.
I am using an Erlbacher Speedster 64 stitch cylinder.

That’s a neat process. Thanks for sharing! 😁
Very interesting - thanks!😊
This is a great video. I've had my machine just over a year. I have a ribber and I just haven't gotten the nerve to use it yet. I still struggle with finding the right tension, especially on the heels and toes.
I'm trying this cast on for the first time and my machine won't knit the e-wrapped stitches because they're not weighted like the waste yarn is. Did you ever have that problem?
I have not had that problem. I make sure my wraps are tight but not too tight.
What weight of fishing line do you use? Rip cords sound AMAZING!
Merced braided line. 65lb
@@aquilladahun-aleftyknitter thanks so much!

Why do an e-wrap cast on for 1x1 rib? It’s not necessary; 1x1 rib is the only rib that won’t unravel. E-wrap is usually done for other rib combinations like 2x2 or 3x1. this is just wasted effort.
I did not know that. How does it not unravel? Do I have to do the in-out-in with the ribber
You can do in-out-in, or Juana’s cast on (Juana’s makes a really nice edge). To do Juana’s selvedge: Start with every other needle in, do 1 3/4 rounds and put on your ribber. Put ribber needles in the slots where there are no cylinder needles; as you put the ribber needles in, pick up the two strands of yarn from the 1 3/4 passes (they’re the bars across the empty cylinder slots). Once all the ribber needles are in and the bars picked up, continue on with your ribbing as usual. It makes a nice edge and saves you a couple of steps.
You do a lovely e-wrap, but save it for other ribbing combinations.
Thanks. I tried inserting the ribber needles afterward and I didn't care for that method. But I only tried it 1 or 2 times. I will give it another go.
Thank you. I'm still very new so any advice is truly valuable
