Perhaps for items that the value is contingent on it being sealed and new in box, they could send a picture of the X-ray to the buyer, and they can either confirm the purchase to receive the item, or refuse; at which point the item remains at the StockX center until it is bought again, or the seller cancels and it gets sent back to them (seller pays shipping in this case).

The buyer and the seller payed a total of like 60 bucks. I thought ebay was nuts with their fees. It was 45 for the seller and 15 for the buyer then if look at shipping it's 20 bucks on both ends. In reality shipping would be closer to 10, so one could argue they made between 60-80 off of a 300 dollar item. So who is the scammer?
This was awesome I’m glad you showed they just take money for nothing alll the time but people hate on you for the 250 you got shit they should pay you more for showing where they need help
So if they don't contact the seller that means that you could potentially buy something brand new that is legit that has been "authenticated" in the same way and then put in a complaint saying you recieved the wrong item and send photos of anything and then send a random thing back to them and get your money back because they never checked with the seller to see if the item they sent was infact the item you are saying you recieved? That seems like bad security to me.
you can use rubbing alc to remove the seal sticker and once the rubbing alc drys off it will become sticky again you can do this to those INSANE seal stickers that are impossile to take off without ripping if its a clear stickers with no cuts it will be easy to remove like the one in the video was easy to take off if you just use alc because it cant rip its not pre cutted
Yo. let me set one thing STRAIGHT. This dude EARNED the $278 from StockX. They promised AUTHENTICITY and did not deliver. This COULD have been a real scam but it was a controlled test where no innocent person got scammed. Applause to them for refunding and compensating the buyer, but they learned a valuable thing from this too. Which is that genuine scammers could be reeling the $278 from them instead. @NerdOnABudget keep that money man and THANKYOU for the content!
Don't think people should call you out for wrongfully taking money from a company that dosent even check the goods as they say they do and charge you for... They most likely also make more than enough from those unclean procedures that those 300 bucks wouldnt even matter. Wish there was more people calling out StockX for literally scamming you
Im so happy you did this video, because I was one of those who bought a 6800xt reference card from StockX. I got it in the mail the seal was open. I was like... Wtf was this card used? Then i contacted stockx and they basically gave me bs conpany word soup about how the cards are not used. Lol
Never had an issue with them. I always receive an open box from them… and I have no issues with that. You must now check a box that says you agree to have the box opened and item inspected before delivery.
Their verification staff needs some training, I guess. How could they possibly tell the difference between a genuine and a fake CPU, when they are not even able to tell the difference between a hard drive and a graphics card.
good on them for not giving anyone a hard time, but regardless I would never deal with them. this is a fine example of their flawed authentication process. Get an x-ray machine do it the right way or something like checking baggage.
The authentication service is really for the seller's sake. It should make it harder for buyers to claim they got something fake. Without this verification, usually the seller gets shafted when a buyer lies. Despite their lack of checking, I can still see this as a useful place for both buyers and sellers. They will take the fall for items they let through, thus encouraging people to sell (and buy) without risk. I've had some high-dollar things I've wanted to sell for many years but haven't due to the high risk.
Amazing work Danny! Keep the $278 from StockX dont return it unless they ask for it. If they havent noticed they dont need it back. Plus they have already made their money back by scamming other people with processing fees.
While the end result might have been worth it, you DID take the refund from them, and filmed it in this video, which means you actually scammed them and this could blow up in your face...I know they didn't hold up their end of what they charged you both for, but that still won't legally give you the right to keep that money. Fingers crossed this ends well Danny.
@@rengokusimp4266 Not the point at all. They both knew it was fake and still requested and received a settlement payout from them, filmed it all,and didn't notify them that they did it. That's fraud. A multi million dollar company is not gonna care about a few hundred bucks. This video will do tens of thousands of dollars in reputation damage to them, I think they would be more worried about that.
This is very funny, and very sad at the same time.. StockX should consider NEW items as used, and open them up, plug them into a test bench, and at least minimum, check CPU-Z... I'd be more happy with getting a screenshot of CPU-Z showing it's the right card..
I think it depends on who inspects it. Because I bought one from there and when it got to me I opened it and it had the stock x tag on the gpu around where you’d screw it into the case. Didn’t mind it was there was just happy it was legit and ram as it should
I'm seeing a lot of snowflakes crying about "you give money back" I say don't you are proven a point that StockX lie and do not check the items case closed.
I literally used to work at stockX and their authentication process was shit but graphics cards they didn't care, no seals are ever broken. Also majority of the packages were thrown out of the truck when unloading it. Cool place to work tho lmao
I was thinking they could possibly x-ray the packages to check the insides, but this still wouldn't confirm if the right graphics card is inside. Just that it's not a stone. If they are adding their own seals anyway, I don't see a problem with them breaking the seal to check the item.

Don't blame this guy. The stated on there website 99% so there for the set the bar on there service, not the seller of buyer + the sticker as secure notice. Some people get paid to find problems in there comany to improve them, what is a good thing to begin with. rather nerd on a budget showed the right way and also making a video on his own terms and own money, to show the people us, and the company. there flaws in there statment and also there claims and actions, if you for example get the wrong product that nobody wants at the end you see that the website is still working with you at the end then instead not giving you anything, he even took out the paypal money as notice before hand, of actions after it was reviewed as a complaint about the product the have re-checked and send again. You would rather think how come that it have being true more then two people, at the time that there would be no problem what so ever to begin with, for example like fake money bills ect. Nice video good information hopefully the fix there loophole in there system to avoid it next time with others.
If they're going to stick their owne "Authentication sticker" on it, they may as well open it and male sure its the correct product. It's so easy to fake things these days (case and point, this video), if they're going to take the brunt of the cost of a fake product shipped, they may well go the whole 9 yards.
Great video man, can't believe you actually exposed them so bad. Only thing is I think the video would have way more views if you cut down length and stuff. Gotta skip to 15 min to figure out if the plan actually worked
I just bought my card on stockx before I saw this vid, they told me in a email that they open cards and when it came in there indeed was a replacement seal with the logo rather than the original.
Also btw that sticker isn’t just for electronics, I got a coupon for being a vip in their discord so I bought a hot wheels rlc car and they put a sticker on the protector
They had to break the seal, yes. But they could simply re-seal it with their own stickers that are saying "verified be StockX". If they want to go even further they couls communicate that with the original retailers so they know about this process, just in case and just to be super safe about it. I am most surprised that UPS didn't loose that Graphics card, or took 5 times as long to deliver it like they did with mine. - I paid express delivery so it arrives the next day and it didn't. Then they lost tracking of the package and when I claimed a file they finally made it to ship the sh the next day - but still a week to late...
Oh. I just saw thaz they put their own stickers on there. That should definetely be enough to sue them and should get their website and company closed...
Great video! But you should have peeled the green "always verified" sticker off first to see if they even cut your seal. I would like to know if they even opened it. I doubt it. but if they signed off on it being real. then technically its their problem now. Im not saying that you should file a claim and scam them. But they put that sticker on it over the "factory" seal. So it really does not make sense to me.
My question, Danny, did StockX take back the money they sent you? Since you had to put in your billing information you would think they would do that or do they have to go through PayPal and file a charge back? Just curious about the results. Great video still
Have you ever used a PayPal account mah boi yhey can still hit him with a charge back and make the account negative they probably just don't care as they're a multi million dollar company they probably care more about the employee negligence
It was a fee to test their bogus policy that they charge thousands of people for. I'd say they got off cheap and it was money well spent. I guess now they put a body tag on the gpu to foreshadow the early death of your electronics that the staff yeeted across the warehouse.

Wish amazon was a worry free buying experience. They will give you your money back thankfully but took like 4 days because i guess they thought i was lieing. I bought a new gigabyte 6650XT for 400 bucks and got the package in 4 days opened it and got a literal shoe stuffed with small children's cardboard books..
Stockx should thank you for opening their eyes. I don’t know what other people think.
I'd rather keep waiting for a good deal on craigslist or Facebook marketplace, rather than pay that website that much money.
Off to sell my old hard drives see you guys later 😂
This was awesome I’m glad you showed they just take money for nothing alll the time but people hate on you for the 250 you got shit they should pay you more for showing where they need help
This is pretty scary to see how easy it is to fake the "verification process".
This will give shady people ideas.
Yea I'd contact StockX to return the $ ASAP before you get into legal troubles.
Since there was a refund given , this has to be illegal to do
I hope I've misinterpreted the comments,, and you haven't just commited a crime on camera, lmao
I definitely will not be using stockX after this...
Dude found the infinite money glitch
you can use rubbing alc to remove the seal sticker and once the rubbing alc drys off it will become sticky again you can do this to those INSANE seal stickers that are impossile to take off without ripping if its a clear stickers with no cuts it will be easy to remove like the one in the video was easy to take off if you just use alc because it cant rip its not pre cutted
Yo. let me set one thing STRAIGHT.
Homie just found an infinite money glitch since StockX didn't try and get money back from him and they fully refunded his friend
Money glitch 🥶 made like 500 dollars profit basically
That's not how math works. The buyer got zero, the seller made 270ish dollars. StockX made -270.
nice control on the video. made sure no one got hurt and they stood behind thier service
He was in utter disbelief when he saw the HD LOLLL
Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today."
good on them for not giving anyone a hard time, but regardless I would never deal with them. this is a fine example of their flawed authentication process.
In the end, you found an infinite money glitch 😀
Amazing work Danny!
Keep the $278 from StockX dont return it unless they ask for it.
If they havent noticed they dont need it back.
Plus they have already made their money back by scamming other people with processing fees.
While the end result might have been worth it, you DID take the refund from them, and filmed it in this video, which means you actually scammed them and this could blow up in your face...I know they didn't hold up their end of what they charged you both for, but that still won't legally give you the right to keep that money. Fingers crossed this ends well Danny.
He sent it to a friend not a random.
@@rengokusimp4266 Not the point at all. They both knew it was fake and still requested and received a settlement payout from them, filmed it all,and didn't notify them that they did it. That's fraud. Yes they messed up and lied as well, but I'm sure they have lawyers and such protecting them, not so much Danny. Just don't want him getting in any trouble.
@@rengokusimp4266 he still received $277 and matt received $378
Yeah I think Danny needs to do the right thing here too
A multi million dollar company is not gonna care about a few hundred bucks.
Bro found a money duping glitch
You're the nerd on a budget, but I'm the nerd of a freaky frenzy
I think it depends on who inspects it. Because I bought one from there and when it got to me I opened it and it had the stock x tag on the gpu around where you’d screw it into the case. Didn’t mind it was there was just happy it was legit and ram as it should
Since this is the first time you used StockX will they block you from selling again even though they didn't contact you?
I started dying laughing as soon as i started the video seeing the heat gun on the sticker lmaoo
this guy found the secret money duplication bug
I'm seeing a lot of snowflakes crying about "you give money back" I say don't you are proven a point that StockX lie and do not check the items case closed.
I literally used to work at stockX and their authentication process was shit but graphics cards they didn't care, no seals are ever broken. Also majority of the packages were thrown out of the truck when unloading it. Cool place to work tho lmao
This was a great way to test them! You did everything right.
I was thinking they could possibly x-ray the packages to check the insides, but this still wouldn't confirm if the right graphics card is inside. Just that it's not a stone.
If they are adding their own seals anyway, I don't see a problem with them breaking the seal to check the item.
You need to reach out to StockX and show them how you did this so they can better train their folks! Excellent experiment though!
lmao those mfs aren't gonna change anything
If you didn’t come clean to StockX, isn’t this video just evidence of you defrauding them of $277? 😂
im late to this video but the reason they didnt contact you as the seller is because they explicitly say before u confirming they will open the product to verify itt but they didnt
techbymatt is a tech youtuber but why his audio sound like its from 1998
Cause he's using a headset mic and just talking to his friend on a video chat, not the maker of the video. In his own videos he uses a better mic and the audio quality is good.
good video, stockx is enabling scalpers. Hope they go bankrupt or sewed. Also, did you get beat up the last 3 minutes of the video?
i got scammed on amazon the sellier name is gift wrap to prevent shipping damage, i ordered a 4060ti is never came
and amazon said they can refund me
Don't blame this guy.
Nice video good information hopefully the fix there loophole in there system to avoid it next time with others.
this is great, I love seeing scammy companies exposed!
That's why I always record how I open entirely the package. Video proof :>
If they're going to stick their owne "Authentication sticker" on it, they may as well open it and male sure its the correct product. It's so easy to fake things these days (case and point, this video), if they're going to take the brunt of the cost of a fake product shipped, they may well go the whole 9 yards.
I’m going to start shipping staplers instead of 3090ti’s
Processing fee aka relaying a shipment of a box lol
The real scammer here is stock x. About 100 extra bucks in fees for a graphics card. I'd rather buy it brand new at best buy or amazon.
Did they ban your account? Like did StockX do anything on your end at all? So what I'm seeing is you still got the money and you were never contacted.
Yes, he got off scott free, as he said
he shouldnt of cut the label he should of peeled the stock x verified label off to see if the new sealed label had been opened first
Great video man, can't believe you actually exposed them so bad.
Must be a new policy, they definitely didn't do that here
They probably actually authenticate more expensive items
You and a friend should do this over and over again. 🤣🤣🤣
That should definetely be enough to sue them and should get their website and company closed...
didn't they just put the sticker over Danny's sticker as verification?
Great video! But you should have peeled the green "always verified" sticker off first to see if they even cut your seal. I would like to know if they even opened it. I doubt it. but if they signed off on it being real. then technically its their problem now. Im not saying that you should file a claim and scam them. But they put that sticker on it over the "factory" seal. So it really does not make sense to me.
Bro found infinite money glitch
Awesome. Good to know. Now all I need is a bunch of old GeForce boxes and a heat gun
StockX doesn't even check sneakers! What makes us think they are going to check computer components!
My question, Danny, did StockX take back the money they sent you? Since you had to put in your billing information you would think they would do that or do they have to go through PayPal and file a charge back? Just curious about the results. Great video still
Dude this is a MONEY GLITCH
@@Slicksoles nobody is saying it isn't... calm down dude
wait he pulled the money out of the account so stockX couldn't claw it back.... so they effectively stole 277 dollars from stockX....
Cry
@@Jesus-ps4db ong
Have you ever used a PayPal account mah boi yhey can still hit him with a charge back and make the account negative they probably just don't care as they're a multi million dollar company they probably care more about the employee negligence
It was a fee to test their bogus policy that they charge thousands of people for. I'd say they got off cheap and it was money well spent. I guess now they put a body tag on the gpu to foreshadow the early death of your electronics that the staff yeeted across the warehouse.
