The thing i hate about google my business, is people leaving reviews without ever experiencing the product. I would walk past a business and my phone would ping, asking for a review of a business that I had never used, and likewise this would happen to my business, people leaving reviews just because they walked past, With no recourse !
I find their are 2 types of Reviews ? Reviews from Friends and Relatives that tell so many unrealistic good things about your business ?? Or ? The Karen Reviews from people who simply want to be difficult to deal with regardless of how much you try to make things right. Not totally sure ?? But i think you can apply to Google to have a Bad Review, Reviewed ?? Google is about helping businesses grow and will review a Bad Review if you report it to Google. Possibly worth find out more IF this is something that has happened to you.
EXACTLY!!! People can randomly leave reviews without even the need to write anything. People can randomly upload photos that is not even related to your business and not even having visited you business and the VERIFIED BUSINESS OWNER has absolutely NO CONTROL. Not even the ability to delete random photos that have nothing to do with your business. Oh yes we can FLAG photos that ultimately does nothing. Like I said in the other comment. Google doesn't provide this platform to help your business. This is all about their ad models and how much money they can make.
Hi Luc, Thanks for this update. I think you're likely correct on the inevitability of business owners needing to pay to maintain listings. Realizing it's just a feeling or prediction.... In your humble opinion, do you think if they were to charge even a minimal monthly or annual payment, it would result in making it harder for the crooks to try to separate business owners from their already claimed profiles? Steve Jobs called it right years ago. Google has no focus and stick-to-it-iveness. I just spent 3.5 months getting our account live after an uncalled for suspension. 3.5 months. Today I learn about this rebrand a new system. Wonder if the transition was part of our frustration. Good channel, by the way. You’ve got a new subscriber.
I'd also like to add that "Google My Business" was officially renamed to "Google Business Profile" from Nov 4, 2021 onwards. Now it's more user-friendly for the merchants/owners and even the customers too.

As long as they make verification better... Currently verification via postage is near impossible because our postage services in South Africa aren't working.

I have a couple questions... 1) I wrote a 100 page guide for business owners on how to claim and optimize their GMB listing. I haven't gotten around to publishing it yet so I guess I'm too late. Creating a listing remains fairly unchanged and the former Google My Business dashboard is still available for now so I feel your guide might still be relevant (although I haven't seen it). The biggest change is the ability to update almost all features of your profile directly in google search. Yes, the change was made overnight and almost took me by surprise but if you set up some google alerts you will be informed as soon as these things happen.

You'll still be able to access the listings. If you manage them all using the same email address the whole list should come up when you search for "my Business" in Google

This is very common for businesses which have moved to a new location. Directories like yelp, bing, yellow pages etc... will crawled websites and add business details to their index. Unfortunately they don't do it often enough and in many instances will have old details. You'll need to contact them so they can update your business information with your new address.

I haven't heard any rumours and quite frankly I would be very surprised if it was the case. It's s great way for google to offer a free website to business owners who can't afford a fully fledge website and to gain more market shares in certain countries who have limited access to digital products. Hundreds of thousands of businesses are already using the product so I doubt it will go away anytime soon.

No you won't. If you are currently managing multiple businesses and search for "my business" in google, you should see the list of all the listings you manage and edit them as usual

How can I remove old outdated photographs--or rather WHY can't I? That seems ridiculous, given that this means that our profile will show services that we have long discontinued and persons that are in no way associated with our business anymore--for all eternity.

Hi, I want to add multiple pin locations of my delivery business on Google maps, so my business name will show up as a pin on Google maps when a search word is entered by a customer while searching in Maps. I see many delivery businesses use the same name and contact information on multiple listings in very close proximity, ex: 3 in the same block. And many more within a 100km radius of the same business. How are they able to add so many pin locations without getting removed? Is it simple as just using the 'add a missing place' option? Also, these are locations that are not verified because the listing has the option to 'claim this business'. They just have a name, phone number, and website. They don't even have a picture. I successfully added a bunch business locations on the map by adding a missing place, but a few days later they all got removed and since then I can't add any new locations, even using different Google accounts don't work, and changing the name and category of the business doesn't work either. Is it possible Google has blocked my ip from adding new locations on Maps from now on? What can I do to be able to add missing places again? I don't want to verify a business address. Thank you.
It sounds like you are a service area type of business which means you should specify the area in which you operate. Pins on the map are only for brick and mortar businesses. From what you are describing it seems your competitors are creating multiple listings by registering addresses. It sounds like these listings don't abide to the Google's guidelines and are not legible (although I am speculating since I have very little info here) .
All the features HAVE NOT been migrated. You can't remove photos from the profile. All it will let you do it add more. I friggin hate this new approach. They announce a new feature when they haven't flushed the thing out yet. They always do this crap. I also hate that you can't control what image is shown and where it's shown. The thumbnail image they use for my business is a really old outdated one and there's nowhere for me to change it. I had to delete the image, with all its thousands of views from the list of photos. Then they go and arbitrarily pick another one that I have no control over.

Have you tried updating the image they use for your profile through the website option? Have you investigated why this is happening? Have your rankings dropped? Is there more competition? Are your listing still showing? has anyone updated the information on them etc...

This is a very good point. I assume you'll receive notifications through the Google app as long as you are logged into your account.

You should be able to remove images you have uploaded yourself

No. For now you can still create a listing just like you used to.

Can you check the message functionality for your profile hasn't been turned off. Jus log in to your dashboard and go to messages
