questions: would you want this on the interior side of the door, exterior, or both wired in series? what keeps someone from just taking it out of the wall and hot wiring it?
First thing i thought of was the exposed screws. Remove those, cross the wires and im assuming it would unlock? Feel like the lock picking lawyer would rip that thing apart.
@@Walterz930 The key device is for if the system is down and the lock is in failed secure mode. This would then lock your emergecy service outside and unable to get in without smashing the door down, then I don't think they need any key .. lol this is a poor security device and Ubiquiti should stop making locks.
It looks like the instructions have an option for some weird screw head that I'm assuming is one-way. You could of course still get it out, but there would be evidence as you'd have to use a screw extractor or a dremel.
@@MactelecomNetworks will this work if you add for example the access reader where you wave your hand will this work in combination with unifi access rescue keyswitch
Hey Cody. I’m thinking about one of these for a business my wife is starting. We live in Calgary and would need one of these in case the G2 Reader Pro fritzes out on the extreme cold days (below -30). Can you turn the key to activate the rescue keyswitch and then remove the key and replace the cover? ie. Can we open the door for the business for the day, bypassing the G2 Reader, but not leave the key in all day? That would be awkward.
wow.. This is secure?! Ubiquiti should stop making physical security devices. All one would need to do is litterally rip the rescue keyswitch out of the wall and touch wires like they are in a movie.. This is very poorly designed!
Ya they need some type of tamper sensor or a way to tell if the wires had been taken out of the key and disable the feature. I’ve already brought it up to them
@@MactelecomNetworks exactly! If it has a way of knowing this, without it being able to be tricked by a shim or magnet, definitely would be an improvement!
I like the clips that you show on your channel, they are very interesting. I wish you more success

In the uk these switch’s would be used on the inside to unlock the door for emergency services to enter and exit as they please

great video! I wish i could get my hands on a Access starter kit
Ya those are like gold right now! Haven’t seen one in stock in a very long time

so it we pull the key switch and tie the two wires together we can get into the door?
we need lockpicking lawyer to test this out
He would hack this one in 5 seconds like a majorty of his videos because this device is very poorly designed.
I suspect he would unscrew the key switch and either bridge or disconnect the wires on the back (depending on how the switch was set up).
@@lockpickinglawyer assuming the lock was not removable, how pick resistant do you think it would be?

How do you mount it to the door? Isn't it easy to remove screws and just short wires to open door? thanks for answer.
Interesting comment - For this reason I'd want it on a back door if went for it
@@MartinHiggs84 I was expecting some digital secured connection, like in alarm systems, but not NO, NC contacts only.
@@symeks2 might be assuming you already have an alarm system that would trigger if not disabled.
What's the range on this? I don't see why we would need the rescue to right next to the hub
Got mine for a maglock. Gonna try to setup with one of my back doors
Ya I didn’t try it with the maglock but fairly similar wiring
Strange question but have to ask. I'm going to be doing this setup with the battery soon. I assume the battery charges when on power?
So with a screwdriver I can pull this "lock" out, cross the wires, open door, put everything back and there is no evidence of break in?
Thanks.
Can Unifi Access connect to a fire alarm system?
Yes it can, and be set to fail open if the alarm triggers. You may need to add in an additional relay; but it works
Yikes, better epoxy that thing into the wall real good, it has 3 wires I assume its monitored for tamper?
Unfortunately not 😬 I brought this up to them will see what happens
I'm surprised it isn't a push button as having keys during an emergency situation might not be likely.
so any body could just come up and push the button and walk in..........

Standard keys witch is cheaper and does the same thing.
Not the purpose of this video.
Yeah Ubiquity just whoop side a product with no purpose. Should’ve had you in the team….
hello! If I have a battery connected to the system and the power goes out, can I still have card access?
