  • In this video I demonstrate the newly implemented Pike Wall formation ability, used by a loreful pike unit I've added for Empire factions as part of my total overhaul mod for Warhammer II which I plan to port to Warhammer III. I also briefly show the Dwarfs, who have been reworked to fit the new balance as established by the mod.
    More videos will come as this mod continues to progress.

    I miss formations like that in the new Total War games, very good.

    This mod keeps getting better and better. My only criticism is the use of the mega Faction unlocker instead of Mixu since that seems to be the more popular one especially when using mods that add factions.

      Thanks. Mega Faction Unlocker isn't actually integrated, I just used it in conjunction with the overhaul mod itself.

      @@juggernaut9994 ah my mistake. I got confused with the description since there are overhaul mods that incorporate other mods into their code. I imagine there maybe submods to balance other mods for this but I'm definitely eager for this. As fun as Warhammer can be there is a noticeable decline in quality compared to Shogun, Medieval and Rome. Only reason those games aren't played more for me personally is because of their age and how...I don't want to say difficult but esoteric managing the campaign ui and other elements can be compared to more modern titles. If Medieval 2 or Rome aged as well as other titles to be more accessible I would bet they would be played more than their modern counterparts. I can't wait to see where your work leads you in making warhammer feel like a proper total war from the Golden age.

    The formation could be tightened somewhat. Have the rows get in closer together (men behind moving forward a little) like an accurate pike wall.

    Hell yeah. Pikes are even a unit in the tabletop

    Medieval II upgrade visuals were a really neat feature, having it again would be AWESOME.
    Regarding the visuals of the pikemen;
    No upgrade;
    Maybe you could make them have only a chestplate and all floppy hats?
    Maybe you could use the plushy arms from the artillery crew?
    Bronze;
    Look the best out of the bunch.
    Silver;
    Floppy hats don t really fit anymore there, all helmets would look better imo.
    Gold;
    I really don t like the full plate, as it makes them look more like knights then actual statroopers.
    Maybe you could make the now silver the new gold and add a new scheme?
    Image the now silver, but with the armored legs of the pistoliers and all floppy hats.

    You must be a magician man, I have never thought I would see actual formations in warhammer! Of course it cannot be as op as it is in the video, since the ai doesn’t register it as pikes and always charges it, but thats only about stats.
    One thing I’ve noticed is that the dwarven and elven units are as big as the human ones, with 200 men, then 160 and so on. Shouldn’t be dwarven and elven units smaller? Hard to believe that elves can put together army as numerous as humans.

      Dwarfs and Elves do have smaller unit sizes than human factions, usually 40 unit models less. And as regards the pikes, given that the mod is early in development, it may be re-balanced later on.

    that pikewall looks about as OP as it probably was IRL good on ya. Also will this rework have any campaign overhauls? i assume likely so and are you able to adjust bodyguard units because i'd rather have Thorgrim with hammerers as the lore shows and how is magic going to be different in this mod?

      You're not the first one to tell me that Hammerers are a better fit for a bodyguard unit for Thorgrim. And yes, this mod is meant to overhaul campaign as well, once the battles have been perfected. Magic is more or less still powerful with some spells rebalanced to be more viable, but given everything else at your disposal magic should not feel mandatory to win.

    Hope and wish that the Empire will have Pikemen in the future update and Dogs of War faction to bring a variety of units from different races as canon in this current game(no mods).

    If you overhaul the campaign would it be too hard to have the battle and campaign overhaul separate just for the people like me who only care about battles. Or is that no feasible/obnoxious.
