    I have the same one. I think in general it is pretty good for the price. The image quality is good, the focus is precise, there is not to much delay or lag in the image and the adjustable LED's is a nice feature.
    But i do have two complaints on mine:
    1. The aluminium stand is connected to the shielding on the USB cable, and i have many times zapped my laptop with static electricity causing it to shut down and restart, I solved this by using a powered USB hub between my laptop and the camera.
    2. The threads on the height adjustment on my stand was bad when i got it so it has a tight spot on each revolution.

      +Wankel Motor Haven't got those issues.
      I'm actually very surprised at how good the video is. I expected it to be really laggy, but with good light levels from the LEDs it scrubs up reasonably OK.
      Colour saturation definitely suffers from low light as well.
      In the Windows camera app there is an exposure adjustment, which helps a bit.
      Cheers Rob

    That is a very nice piece of equipment. Everyone should have a USB microscope just for the novelty of it if nothing else. As for poking into tight places like a car door or a pipe or whatever I have one of those cameras on a 3 foot flexcable (1 meter). It is very hard to figure out what your looking at and how big it might be. I thought I would be able to use it to check brake pad thickness without taking the tire off but the judgement of thickness is hard to get right. Thanks for sharing.

    This little microscope is great for finding steel splinters in your fingers when removing them with a pick and tweezers.
    Better than the loupe that I normally use.

    • @markfryer9880
      @markfryer9880 7 лет назад

      Splinters of any kind can be hard to find and determine if totally removed, so this little unit could be just the ticket.
      No doubt you will be giving this a workout on the lathe Rob.

    Now that was interesting. I do not use Windows so the software might be a problem, but my head does not fit where I want to use the loupe:) The stand is flimsy but just a bunch of turning so I am sure you could remake it.

      Hi Juan. It's an interesting little gadget, and while not as convenient as a loupe, it can get into tight places.
      When I get time I may cut a gear with it, just as a demonstration.
      I take it you may be using Linux ? Basic web cam software from the repository should work, as that's all this gadget is - it just has a different focal length.
      Cheers Rob.

    Hi, I have the same scope, I am also impressed, but I hate a bit the horizontal wiggle. No Idea how to fix it. Do you?

    • @Xynudu
      @Xynudu  9 лет назад

      +leachim235 Looking in from the bottom of the column, you can see that twist is controlled by a cross pin riding in two slots. A slightly bigger diameter pin would solve the issue.
      However, I don't see how the screw column comes apart, and don't wish to break it
      May have to investigate further.
      Cheers Rob.

    • @DocMicha
      @DocMicha 9 лет назад

      Yes I tried it a littlebit, but its hard to get the pin out without destroying the threads and that would be a pitty.
      Greetings Mike

    • @Xynudu

      I had a look at the ADSM201 video and it is a better product.
      The new stand is much more rigid, and the 1080p capability is also a major step up.
      Of course it's a lot more expensive, but for high end users it's a definite improvement.

    Me again Rob. One last question. I have tried a web cam and the problem I had was the camera is backwards. When you put this camera over your right index finger and pull it towards you. Does it show it coming towards you on the monitor?? The web cam I have shows you finger or tool going the opposite way. Hope this makes sense.

      +Lin Bayford
      Hi Lin,
      If I point the camera away from myself towards a wall, then put my finger between the camera and the wall, when I move my finger it shows the correct direction of movement on the screen (as your eye sees the movement in real life).
      So if I move it away from me, the camera shows that direction of movement.
      Same thing for moving the finger right or left.
      Cheers Rob

    I have one of these too, and quite like it except for the shiny aluminum finish. Sadly, the USB plug has a loose connection and I don't think that's something I'll be able to repair.

    • @Xynudu
      @Xynudu  6 лет назад

      Hi Barry,
      The shiny base plate is a silly idea, but it's easily remedied by putting a small piece of matt finish paper/manilla folder on it. Plus you can move the item around with the paper. Works well. It's been so long since I did this video I can't remember if I mentioned that or not.
      Cheers Rob

      Yes, these will focus from a few mm out to infinity - can be used as a web cam.
