stray kids not only has their own producing unit called 3racha, which consists of the members Bang Chan, Changbin & Han, who write & produce their whole discography, they also cover every genre and even created their own genre with the song “gods menu”. no matter what type of music you’re looking for, stray kids has you covered. they also don’t have official positions anymore like “rapper” or “vocalist” because all 8 members cover everything. anyways, stray kids world domination.
SKZ actually, in general, has less of pop sound than general kpop music. Maybe because you saw some of their more pop sound, you associate them to pop, which is fine but if you explore more of their music you will find how their music actually sounds like. Venom is not even their most experimental sound (Side Effect, 3rd Eye, The Tortoise and The Hare etc are very experimental).
They're one of the biggest/most popular groups in the world and are considered not only leaders of their generation but at this point are challenging and in many cases breaking records/achievements of monster groups from earlier generations. They're not that popular in _Korea,_ true, because that's just how the domestic market rolls. But internationally, they're massive and growing at a phenomenal rate. Check all the year-end "best of" lists from various music sites and publications -- SKZ show up repeatedly, sometimes even as the only kpop group in the entire worldwide list. They're the tenth-highest-earning entertainment act -- of _all_ entertainment, no matter how long those artists have been around or what their field is -- in Korea, despite being relatively unpopular domestically and being less than five years old.
tl;dr -- I think someone might have misinformed you about their popularity. 😆 (Popularity isn't everything, of course. We'd love their music just as much even if they were nearly unheard of [which is kind of how they functioned for the first couple years], and there are plenty of talented artists who don't get nearly the recognition or popularity they should. But in SKZ's case, they've earned their top-tier-and-growing popularity over several years of struggle and have the genuine talent and skill to back up their popularity.)
There's minimal focus on choreo in this because it's a b-side. The song does have choreo, and they've blown up the internet several times with it in live stages, including MAMA last week. But most of the many, many b-side videos get minimal, if any, choreo included, as the choreo focus for each album is saved for the title track that's highlighted during the comeback promotions. Which in the case of the album that includes Venom -- ODDINARY -- is the title track Maniac.
I definitely don’t think pop when I think of Stray Kids. Please react to more of their music. They performed Venom and Maniac live on Mama 2022 recently. It was fire and choreographed ! Please react to more Stray Kids. They are a rap heavy group. Check out 3Racha and Heyday
I definitely wouldn't say this was experimental for them lol, this song was very much on brand - if you're looking for experimental listen to the 'Tortoise and the Hare' from them

Ok, yeah, the comments during the last couple minutes about "aggressive" being something different for them and this being them "trying something new" and different from their "usual style" has me absolutely convinced that you really are accidentally confusing them with a different group in your memory. I'm not joking and I'm not dissing with any comments about this -- I genuinely think that's what happening here. Because there's no way these comments would make sense if you were thinking of the actual SKZ songs you've listened to (barring Secret Secret).
I rewatched your older SKZ reactions to verify this theory. Some of your commentary:
"It's so aggressive!" "That was the fastest three minutes of my life." "They're so crazy." "The chorus drops way too hard; no one's ready for it. It's just out of control." "Everything's just crazy. The energy's at an all-time high." "Their style is this rap, hard style, electronic pop blend...a blend of like five genres in one. They're unique. I'm having trouble breaking this down." "What _is_ this?!" gasped out in a shocked voice. "This beat goes so hard for no reason." "This band is _big time_ They're at the top. They are top tier" (after noting all the elements indicating their large budget). Comments about them being a hybrid of electronica, pop, rap, trap, dubstep, something inexplicable. Complaint about vocal sections distracting you from how hyped the big rap sections were making you.
With all of that, it's pretty clear that "They're a lesser-known, less popular group with a reliably standard pop sound" is probably an impression you got from a different group and are now accidentally associating in your memory with SKZ simply because you haven't listened to them for many months and heard only a few songs before you stopped listening.

4:07 pop kind of sound? I mean, they've experimented with a lot of genres of music but pop is definitely not the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear stray kids.
You should listen to more of their songs, you won't regret it. When I hear the word stray kids the first thing I think of is energetic music that goes hard but they also have calm songs, ballads, rock, a lot of rap and more.
"Pop kind of sound" might be one of the most inaccurate descriptions I've ever heard about SKZ. 😆 I just checked the SKZ reactions on your channel, and the only one that might venture near that is Secret Secret. I think it might just have been so long since you reacted to them, and with relatively little exposure to them overall, that you either don't have a clear recollection of what they sound like or you're confusing them with a different group. They're one of the most rap-heavy, hip-hop-centric, experimental groups in the entire industry.
One of the reasons they aren't very popular in Korea is specifically because they _don't_ have a pop kind of sound. They're too hard, too experimental, to ever-changing for the mainstream Korean market. They're considered to have created their own genre because they literally don't fit into the approved pop path they would have to have followed to be accepted by the domestic mainstream. They're so regularly accused of making "noise music" and existing to create loud chaos, they made an entire fourteen-song clapback album about it.
While they'll incorporate elements of pop, just as they'll incorporate trap and grime and drill and samba and jazz and r&b and funk and house, they're about as close to having an overall "pop kind of sound" as they are to having polka. 😆 Their non-pop sound is _why_ they're famous.
Totally. Pop definitely does not come to mind when it comes to their music.
A shame that they are not more popular in Korea due to not being conventional Kpop sounds. They are just as talented as any seniors groups, and fellow 4th gen groups. And I am excited for their future because it seems they are open to learning new things, and keep improving. Truly hope they will continue to push the boundaries.
I actually don't know what you heard from StrayKids before but they're one of a few groups that are absolutely not known for pop ... Like they literally have waaayyy more other genres then pop in their discography... They're known to be a rap heavy group with more hip-hop style (I mean 3Racha literally is a predebut hip-hop subunit) that's why they're compared to other more poppy groups less popular in Korea (but in Korea only) - StrayKids are actually the second biggest male korean group in the world rn, not only do they lead their generation (4th gen) but also are a real concurrent for other older, popular groups - they break many records, topping many charts, winning awards - achieving so many things no Korean act/ male korean group/ 4th gen group ever did. And on top of that they're well known as a so called "self produced" group because they literally produce everything themselves. From composing, arranging or lyrics,... They did it since the beginning and still do it. Just another uniqueness that should be pointed out about them. I really think you should listen to more StrayKids if you want because they're really talented artists and then you might see their other genres that are absolutely not pop music.
This is a group where everyone can do everything. To see all of them rap, I recommend "Maze of Memories." There's no music video but plenty of color-coded lyric videos out there for it. They are all really good.
I recommend more Stray Kids. They are extremely talented and it will give a better idea of who they are.

They are one of the most popular kpop groups in Korea at the moment, competing with BTS in some aspects. this year they got number 1 spot at the billboard 200 twice, which is especially cool since this was the first time they ever entered billboard 200 (they didn't have american label before, that's why).
I would actually call "venom" their typical sound. aggressive beat with lots of rap - this is what come to the mind of a casual listener when they hear "stray kids". experimental song - yes, but agressive and with lots of rap - as they like.
this MV has less budget, because it is a bside. a bside also doesn't have a choreography. "venom" actually does have one, but it is completely absent in the MV because I guess one of the members was injured and couldn't dance properly.
They're rising and popular!! Always killing it with their self produced music. 👍 Not your ordinary kpop band.

Stray kids is actually VERY rap and edm heavy, they also have a Choreo for this just not a dance practice so u can see the choreography in their live performances.

I don't know if I'd say they have a specific sound other than they really mix genres and play with music and there is usually really great beats, big drops and strong rapping in most of their music. You might check out Freeze or something from their new album Maxident (again, all new stuff there too). Since you like rap their producing unit 3racaha has a self title song that is awesome. Taste by the "performance unit" danceracha is awesome too. I feel like you can't go wrong with their songs.

Stray Kids definitely have pop songs but overall they don't have that normal k-pop vide, at least I wouldn't say they do. Their sound is actually closer to Venom - like this song is what I expect from them. I don't know what you've reacted to but you should definitely check out the rest of the Oddinary album along with Red Lights and Domino from the Noeasy album and Taste from their latest Maxident album. Tortoise and the Hare is an older song but it is fantastic - should give you a feel of their diverse sound and style. Thanks for reacting to Stray Kids! A very popular group 😀

Oh trust me. They aren’t small 😂 they are considered the next BTS by some because they have such a large fan base around the world. They were literally head to head with BTS in the mama worldwide fan vote. Jumping back and forth between first and second place. In the past no one has ever come as close to beating BTS in a fan vote

Glad you reacted to Stray Kids! My ult group. They have such a variety but their rap line is fire. I would recommend HeyDay and 3Racha which were recent. Plus as other commenter suggested, watch The MNET MAMA 2022 performance (you’ll need to put something on screen to obscure view or it will be blocked by MNET). Might want to watch Maniac MV first though to get the references and appreciate what they changed for their live performance.
I definitely recommend watching some more skz. They are absolutely amazing. If you like rap I recommend their song 3RACHA (named after their producing subunit) and any other 3RACHA songs (all on RUclips) otherwise I also recommend songs like Tortoise and the Hair, All In, and Boxer. You get to see the other members take part in rapping in those songs. I honestly don’t know a single song of theirs I would willingly skip and they mix it up a lot so you can listen to literally any song and find something new that you might enjoy
Although they don’t have positions anymore, Changbin and Han are the best rappers in the group and rap the most. If you ever want to just hear their raps I recommend their SKZ-record songs “I Got It” (Han), and “Cypher” (Changbin)

Hi! there is a difference between M/V and "Video"... M/V's are for the title track of the album, with choreography, but "Videos" are for other songs on the album and sometimes there's a choreography but lately it's just been different stories without any dance moves.
There are dance performances of these songs but not in the form of a music video.
Also I don't think pop defines Stray Kids well. They do so many more genres. A lot of Hip Hop, rap, sometimes trap, EDM, funk or rock, always with a lot of experimentation in sound effects. (NOISY MUSIC lol)

I'm not hating at all... But "Not as popular" had me gagging! LOL. 😂 Nah, they're only like one of the biggest in Korea and internationally (no, not BTS level but still hugely known and popular in the Western world, I'd even say second behind BTS (for guy groups, not counting BP here)). There's a reason their videos are always top quality - they make the money to be able to spend the money. Stray Kids are it, dude. 🙃
