    I recently installed the Winegard platinum antenna in my attic. I figured for $60.00, I would give it a try. It had been a while since I had bought a new antenna. This was my eighth. I know you're proud of me :), but... I like to tinker, so two of them I built myself. Two were indoor antennas to play with. Anyway, the HD7694P didn't get the strongest signal, but the signal was rock solid, very little fluctuation, allowing the tuner to lock on at lower signal strengths. I now get all 4 major networks with virtually no pixelation. I am ecstatic. Thanks for all the help. I'll be visiting your patreon page soon.

    I bought philips indoor antenna from target 16 dollars in seattle. It has rabbit ears and circle, so it receives vhf and uhf channels from abc on channel 4 all the way to univision channel 51. In total I get 28 channels and it includes the main networks abc, nbc, cbs, pbs and fox. I am so happy with it and no need for stupid cable 😁😁😁

    I actually am using the Clearstream 2 Max in Pittsburgh and receive WQED pretty clear without any break up in the signal. Luckily, I am 4 miles away from the broadcast tower so that may be why it comes in so clearly. I have the antenna outside pointed pretty close to the correct direction.
    It is nice to see antennas with large VHF elements still around.

    I'm 35 miles south- east of the Phila. towers and the CM 5016 works fine for picking up channel 6 (vhf-low) which was my main concern. Channels 3, 10, 17, 29 all come in fine too. I'm getting close to 100 channels total from this medium size antenna. It's mounted 25' above ground and even with the neighbors house as an obstruction it still serves me well.

    Those long elements will also work well on the F M broadcast band (88 to 108 Mhz).This will work much better than that cheap dipole made of speaker wire tacked to the wall behind your receiver.Take note that not all F M receivers use a 75ohm coax jack (F connector) Many receivers use a combination of spring clips or thumb screws for your antenna hookup.If using coax you will have to first strip about 2 inches of the outer jacket off the coax.then split the ground shield and center wire.Make sure to put the center wire on the terminal marked 75 ohm and the ground shield to the ground terminal.If you reverse this it will not work.An easy mistake to make.If you have any left over RG 59 coax this is a good place to go ahead and use it.Rg 59 performs very well on these lower frequencies (88 to 108 Mhz) and is easy to work with

    In an older video I saw; that to see any improvement in performance, you basically need to double the antennas size. I have this small 3 ft yagi style $39 Amazon special in my attic. It works great all week long, until Sunday afternoon Football and it decides to have issues.
    This thing looks like the big brother to mine, I may look further into getting one. It would help if you showed the way it comes out of the box. I assume the arms fold out? So I get it to where I’m gonna install it, then open the arms up. I mean, it’s a big antenna. I’m wondering if I can still fit this into my attic alright?

    I'm using a RCA directional antenna that's rated for 65 miles that I bought at Walmart in 1989, along with a RCA Preamp amplifier on a 35 foot pole, I'm getting 42 OTA digital channels with this setup, I'm receiving all the Tulsa TV stations that are 140 to 150 miles as the crow flies north, northwest from where I live in the mountains of southeast Oklahoma, not to mention, I'm also receiving all the Fort Smith, Arkansas TV stations to my east, northeast about 50 to 60 miles and I don't even have to turn my TV antenna. I'm getting the Grit channel, METV channel, HNI channel, GET TV channel, LAFF channel, Bounce channel, COMET channel, Mystery channel, Cozi Tv channel, Court TV channel, the alphabet channels ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and PBS, and several other oddball channels, I'm so glad I cut the satellite cable about five years ago and saved myself just over $100 per month, why pay for the pathetic commercials when you can watch them for free, I mostly watch the GRIT channel and METV channel with the old westerns, and I don't waste my time watching the pathetic far left lying propaganda fake news TV channels known as the Alphabet networks. About the only time I have any pixilation is during heavy rain or extremely thick fog.

    Is there a discrete difference when it comes to the bands, for example does it require a different type of element to pickup channel 6 compared to 7 or is the low/high VHF more generality used to explain it requires different elements styles to pickup channels lower on the spectrum.

    Looks like a good antenna. I asked Channel Master if they would make a Masterpiece Series version of their CM-2020 as the general situation in the Montreal area is Northern Vermont for me anyway is 75 miles away. All stations there except ABC are on UHF and the CM-4228HD pulls those in beautifully except ABC WVNY which is on Hi-VHF 7.1 which is a peek-a-boo Station. Channel Master recommended the CM-5020 but that has Lo-VHF elements and there are no Lo-VHF Stations in this area. Their UHF section is a disappointment as it's only good for 60 miles, 15 miles short. It's UHF section can't match the CM-2020. It looks like they need to add another model to their Masterpiece Series. It looks like these antennas overall while solidly built fall short on UHF performance. I wonder how the HD Stacker would compare to them?

    Hmmm...looks a lot like the old Radio Shack $29.95 small antenna with the long elements straightened. I guess Digital made the costs on this go way up. My dad was a long time long distance(DX) TV watcher who with the 75-120 mile antennas picked up stations from northern South America to northern Canada from our house in Houston, Tx. No tower, just a strong mast and a rotater. A copy of White's Radio Log (which included TV stations) lived on top of the TV. Since he also thought of himself to be a decent technician, I grew up regularly hearing THUMP followed by a string of cuss words when he would get on the wrong side of the plate output feeding the picture tube. Those were the days! Nothing quite like watching the Nebraska morning shows in living color...from Houston. I learned a lot about the geography of the US just from helping my dad with his hobby. It made me curious. No there was no Google to look up the station - just maps, encyclopedia's and the White's Radio Log. Oh, the THUMP...that was his elbow hitting the side of the TV cabinet once the shock caused an immediate withdrawal of his arm.

    Is there any way we can add those long elements to an antenna we currently use, thus improving its abilities? I have spare parts/elements from an antenna that got damaged by a fallen limb, and I wonder if I can add them somehow to an existing antenna.

    • @writerpatrick
      @writerpatrick 3 года назад

      You could make an antenna from the parts then add it as a second antenna, but you have to be careful how you connect two antennas or it can reduce reception.

      ^what this guy said but at that point you're better off just purchasing a new antenna with low VHF capability rather than screwing up one you have now.

      @@AntennaMan - How could I screw it up? The existing elements are screwed on, wouldn't screwing on longer ones be beneficial? I'm not talking about soldering anything on or splicing wires, just trying to add longer elements.

      @@Locksnut - Well, I'm gonna give it a try. The spare elements are about 2 feet longer in length, and I think I can screw them on the way the existing elements are screwed on. If it doesn't work, I can always just put the other ones back on. Just surprised no one knew if this COULD work. I'll let you know if it does, could save people a lot of money of having to buy another antenna when a simple modification could do just as well.

    Where I live only a Religious TCT Network Station that used to be on Virtual 26.1 to 26.3 (RF26) took a 32 million dollar payout and moved to VHF Lo (RF5) since moving I have since never seen it again. Station was WNYB Jamestown, NY. They had a powerful UHF signal that went north of Toronto, Ontario from the hills of Jamestown, NY. Gave all this up to go to VHF Lo (RF5) and take that 32 million dollar payout.
    In my market got VHF Hi Stations at RF13, 12, 10, 8 and 7. Every thing else is UHF 14 to 36. So buying that antenna with VHF Lo is no good, for me.
    The Stupid FCC are total idiots! Should have retained 14 to 69 and got rid of VHF so we could all have smaller element Antennas. England got rid of VHF. FCC has caused a bloody mess of the TV Band.
    Now UHF does go far too. I have got WDIV 4 Detroit (RF45) since has moved to (RF32) in Brantford, Ontario.

      You're right! Where I live it's all UHF except for one station, which is on VHF 10. Thankfully nothing on low VHF. The entire antenna situation would've been made a lot simpler (and smaller) if everyone had been forced to UHF.

    Aren't the other two tested boosted?

    • @AntennaMan
      @AntennaMan  3 года назад +1

      The other two have built in preamps that make up for signal loss in long cables. These "boosters" don't make a difference in reception if the cord is short which is the case for all of my antenna tests. I use a 7 foot cable.

      @@MaynardFreek Not really. You ground your tv antennas so as to divert static electricity AWAY from your TV set caused by lightning storms. It has no other effect on picture quality or the performance of the tv antenna itself. When you ground your tv transmission line, you either use a ground rod, or you ground it using a cold water pipe, and as stated, it diverts static electricity from you tv set.
