The price of being unique. Coil are physically no longer but should we ignore the major cosmic reflections emanating from their timeless work? Seldom has a musical group led us as close to illumination as Coil have. Respect and Remembrance.
So sad i will never get to see John Balance/Coil live now. Well at least i'll get to see Kate Bush my other favorite this September. This footage is amazing. thank you so much for sharing. RIP John your music and influence will live on forever.
@@2f126 he was a massive alcoholic, unfortunately, he died by falling off a balcony, awesome band, both main members dead now, both geniuses and will be missed.
@@2f126 Jhonn was known for dealing with substance abuse in his last years. If you analyse lyrics in The Ape of Naples you will find themes about death, sustance abuse and self harm.
Not necessarily, alcohol in many ways is the most destructive of all drugs. The vast majority of other substances they experimented with are actual experiences that you only need to have a handful of times. I don't believe they ever got into heavier substances like heroin, or crack.
Sophia Marie You make a good point, and that's the insane part, that alcohol is the legal one out of all these substances. Alcoholism and alcohol related deaths seem like a necessary evil in society. I get sad though, thinking about John. I think if he had just handled whatever issues he had in his life, through therapy or something else (maybe he tried, what do I know), he most likely would be alive today. All those drugs (among which I include alcohol, of course) don't get you anywhere in that regard. I've had periods of complete madness, because of drugs. My father drank himself to death. Now I'm stone cold sober, and I've never felt better. I still feel like shit on a daily basis, but I'm working on it.

Wow. I had no idea how far away Jhonn had become. He appears to be positively haunted.

A man who had taken excessive amounts of everything imaginable has his life end because of alcohol. It's kind of insane isn't it?

Nope. Just a ironically named drunk.

Balance looks rather unbalanced here. He was a creative force that is greatly missed. :(
